Hi, my name is Lian. I live in Winchburgh with my fiancé, Stuart, and my two little girls, Maddie and Connie, and I run classes in the Edinburgh North West areas. I am originally from Manchester and before moving to Edinburgh travelled the world working on a cruise ship. After meeting Stuart, we decided to put down some roots in Scotland and start a family. I attended lots of baby classes with Maddie, she spent most of the time sleeping but for me it was invaluable - being able to chat to other mums going through the same things at the same time. Also, being new to area meant I was able to meet, what have become, lifelong friends. In June 2020 I had my second daughter, Connie, in the middle of a global pandemic. My maternity experience was very different. Not having the opportunity to go to classes and share experiences with other Mums made me realise even more how important these baby groups are, not just for my baby but also for me. So this got me thinking about my future and where my passion was, then I discovered Tots Play and knew I had found exactly what I wanted to do. I wanted to offer the same opportunity for new mums and the experiences I had to Edinburgh North West. I immediately jumped at the chance to bring this fantastic programme to families in the area. My aim is to offer you and your baby a relaxed and friendly environment, where you can spend special time with your little one playing, laughing, learning and bonding together. Each class brings with it a unique structured play programme, where you can share experiences through activities such as baby massage, yoga, music, sign language, sensory play and much more all in one place. About Us The Scottish Universities’ International Summer School (SUISS) offers an intense, challenging and diverse programme of study that takes place annually during the months of July and August in Edinburgh, the world’s first UNESCO City of Literature. We offer three courses in Text and Context: British and Irish Literature from 1900 to the Present, one course in Creative Writing, and one course in Contemporary British and Irish Theatre and Performance. Our literature courses offer extensive examination of Modernism, Contemporary Literature and Scottish Literature, while our Creative Writing course allows students to develop their personal writing portfolios. The Theatre and Performance course, which explores both theoretical and performative approaches to drama, coincides with the Edinburgh International Festival and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and is delivered in partnership with the Scottish Playwrights’ Studio. We are located at the University of Edinburgh, and run by a team of hard-working individuals, led by the Administrator and Co-Directors. This core team, along with our advisory committee, oversees the lecture programme and management of the summer school each year. In the summer, we employ volunteer student hosts, who are SUISS graduates themselves. They are on hand to address the needs and concerns of our visiting students. Our very talented tutors, who are usually in the process of completing a PhD in a literature related field, instruct the seminars. Around 4 million people visit Edinburgh every year, many of them for the Edinburgh International Book Festival in August – the largest public celebration of the written word in the world – but many to explore the literary city and all it has to offer the book lover. Edinburgh is an acclaimed centre of learning. The National Library of Scotland (NLS) is a copyright library, and holds a copy of every book published in the United Kingdom. One of the largest and finest collections in the British Isles, the NLS provides outstanding facilities for research in all fields. The resources of the NLS are complimented by The University of Edinburgh Library, the extensive collections of which are designed to meet the needs of both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The Scottish Music Therapy Trust is run by a team of volunteers students, music therapists, academics and other professionals dedicated to promoting music therapy. If you are interested in joining the team and becoming a trustee, please get in touch via our Contact page. Chair: David Jones David is not a Music Therapist! He is a keen amateur musician with a background in disability awareness. He has sat on a number of committees advising both the public and private sector on how best to support the needs of the disabled community, not only in Scotland but throughout Europe. The SMTT allows him to combine these interests in music and in disability. Trustee: Dr Philippa Derrington Philippa is a Music Therapist and Programme Leader of the MSc Music Therapy at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. Trustee: Duncan Campbell Duncan is an Edinburgh based Music Therapist, having graduated from the MSc Music Therapy course at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, in 2018. He has clinical experience of working with adults and children with learning disabilities, ASD, mental health and also working with Alzheimer’s/Dementia. Currently Duncan is working full time within NHS Lothian’s CAMHS. Trustee: Nadine Allan Nadine is a registered Music Therapist who graduated from the MSc Music Therapy course at Queen Margaret University in 2020. She is currently working with ELM Music Therapy in Aberdeen and the shire. Nadine has clinical experience of working with children, adolescents and adults with additional support needs and mental health difficulties. She is currently working mainly with children who have profound multiple learning disabilities in schools, as well as co-running a Sing and Sign group. Trustee: Hannah Quigley Hannah is a student on the MSc Music Therapy Course at Queen Margaret University. Before beginning the course in September 2021, she studied Music at the University of Edinburgh where she gained experience delivering community music workshops in schools, mainly for children with additional support needs. Trustee: Tilly Mütter Tilly is a student on the MSc Music Therapy Course at Queen Margaret University. After completing her undergrad in Canterbury she became the Music Lead at The Sunflower Federation Schools in Hertfordshire; for students with additional needs and profound multiple learning disabilities, where she used music to help improve the student’s individual targets.

Penicuik High School is a co-educational, non-denominational High School serving Penicuik and the surrounding area within Midlothian. The current school building with its imposing frontage has been on its present site since 1937 and the school has a reputation for offering a wide and stimulating curriculum and supporting young people to achieve academically, socially and culturally. Amongst some of its famous alumni are: Sir James Hamilton (the first Dux of the school), the designer of the Concorde’s delta wings, Scotland’s Grand Slam captain, Jim Aitken, Football internationals Craig Paterson and Billy Kirkwood, former Chief executive of NHS Scotland, Malcolm Wright, celebrity stylist to the stars and royalty, Denise McAdam RSM, Rosemarie McIlwhan, Director of the Scottish Human Rights Centre. We are equally proud of the many young men and women who have passed through our doors and are now making valuable contributions both locally, nationally and internationally. Many of our current students have parents and even grandparents who attended the school and this link to the past is important to our ethos. One of the key aims of the school, supported by its current PRIDE values is to develop all our young people and provide the best education possible so they are able to become productive and fulfilled citizens who progress into positive working lives and careers. In order to do this we need to work in partnership with all parents/carers and community partners to offer the widest possible curriculum that develops personal and social skills and ensures they attain suitable qualifications to progress to positive destination after school. This means we must be here to celebrate the many successes of our young people but also be prepared to work with you and your young person when things go wrong and they need support and guidance to continue to develop and mature. About the Migration Museum The Migration Museum explores how the movement of people to and from Britain across the ages has shaped who we are – as individuals, as communities, and as a nation. Migration is a pressing contemporary issue and is at the centre of polarised political and online debate. But there’s an underlying story of comings and goings stretching back many centuries. And this story goes to the heart of who we are today. Britain has thousands of museums, but none comprehensively focused on this important theme that connects us all. The time is right for a highly relevant, accessible visitor attraction that shines a light on who we are, where we come from and where we are going. From our current home in the heart of Lewisham Shopping Centre, we stage engaging exhibitions and dynamic events, alongside a far-reaching education programme for primary, secondary, university and adult learners. We have a growing digital presence and convene a knowledge-sharing Migration Network of museums and galleries across the UK. The story so far The Migration Museum was founded by Barbara Roche, who first made the case for a migration museum for Britain almost 20 years ago, stemming from her time as Britain’s immigration minister, and from visiting similar museums in other parts of the world – notably Ellis Island in New York. Barbara assembled a founding team of people from different professional backgrounds who shared her passionate belief that Britain’s migration history should be placed at the heart of our national story. Together, they began to scope what a national migration museum might look like. Sophie Henderson, a former immigration judge and barrister, came on board as Director in 2013. Between 2013 and 2017, the Migration Museum staged pop-up exhibitions and events and ran education workshops at a wide range of venues across the UK, including the Southbank Centre, the National Maritime Museum and City Hall in London, the Museum of Oxford, Leicester railway station, and the National Records of Scotland in Edinburgh. My teenage years... IMG_20200922_093644_1.jpg were spent hanging out in the school art department (regardless of what class I was supposed to be in!) and it was there that Mr Alston, my wonderful art teacher directed and nurtured my love of art. Studying Art & Design and then Illustration, was a great foundation to my art career and helped me refine my skills as an artist. But as a naïve graduate, passionately producing illustrations and trying to make it in the freelance world - I soon realised it was going to be more difficult that I thought! I'd been working in Children's Services for 15 years running Youth Participation Projects, managing a Gypsy Roma Traveller Project and delivering a provision of services for the most hard to reach communities. This provided me with the most amazing experiences, as well as allowing me to use my art to benefit these groups. It's been a wonderful journey of learning and a fantastic platform in which to build my business. In 2016 I decided it was time to give up the office job and focus all my time on my community art work. It's been a brilliant time and I'm delighted that I still have daily experiences of working with such amazing people, from our wonderfully interesting communities. I hope that even if it's just in some little way, I am able to make a difference to the lives of those that I work with, through the medium of visual art. Audrey But freelancing for a few years whilst volunteering in the community, opened many new doors and ideas of what I could do with my visual arts. I went on to complete a degree in Community Arts and continued to work with community groups. This is where my love of creating art in the community became well and truly set. My passion for mural painting was formed following the completion of two large scale mural commissions in Scotland. Then with London calling, I completed my next 30 metre indoor mural at a special needs adventure playground in Hackney. In 2007 I was introduced to the medium of mosaic and I just completely fell in love with it!

Atlantic Bow (Communications) Limited was originally set up in 1994 by David Walls and the late Alexander Grant as a consultancy and project development firm. Dr. Stewart Massie was appointed Technical Director in 2009. We specialise in market research, risk management, open and distance learning, as well as research into combining information and communications technologies with legal, financial, commercial, educational and other professional services. We have worked largely in the fishing, seafood and aquaculture sectors. In particular, our EC funded report "The Seafood Industry of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland and the West Coast: The Problems of Remoteness in a European Context" (EC Ref. UK-11-Focus, August 1997) had a major impact on the UK seafood industry and has been the basis of much of our subsequent work to date. More recently we were awarded an FIFG grant to carry out an "innovation" development project that looked at the vital question of the standardisation of data to facilitate data exchange across the seafood industry as a "proof of concept" project. To demonstrate the practical application of the draft standard specification that was developed, there was specific focus on quality management, compliance certification and audit in the field of organic aquaculture. This project was successfully completed in June 2008. The outcomes can be viewed at the AQuaManage section of our Scotsea site (see below). This has led on to the formation in 2016 of a new company, Evolve O-Pro Limited, which was set up to develop software to assist the professional or expert with the task of complex reporting, data collection and analysis. We have always been known for being a fun and approachable club. Currently we have around 40 members shooting all styles of bows. The club primarily consist of recurve and compound archers. There are still the odd few who shoot longbow, bare bow and more traditional styles. Some club members also practice other types of archery such as Clout, Flight and Field but unfortunately the club does not have the facilities to cater for these. Over the years the club has produced several top archers. Some of our juniors shot on the Scottish squad and team, representing Scotland all over Britain. We have Scottish record holders, British record holders, even a British Under 15 Junior Boy champion. The seniors have represented the club over the years with Scottish, British and even Olympic champions. Loreburn Archers certainly does have a good pedigree behind it and it is something we are extremely proud of. The club practises all year round. Our indoor season runs from September through to March. We currently shoot at St Joseph’s College Sports Hall. The outdoor season runs from March to September. Through the summer we practise outdoors at the Crichton Playing Field, when it is not raining or too windy to shoot. Directions can be found on our contact page. If you are thinking about taking up the sport, we run a beginners’ course once a year. Completing the beginners’ course is the only way for a novice to join the club. However if you have been a full shooting member of a club in the past, please get in touch with us to inquire about joining. Archery is a sport that is open, to all irrespective of ability. We encourage anyone and everyone to come along and have a shot, the club’s minimum age limit is set at 12 years old. Each November the clubs runs an open indoor competition attracting up to 80 archers from all over Britain. Loreburn Archers also run a number of Come and Try sessions at local Gala days during the summer season which introduces archery to a wider audience as well as raising funds for the club.
