LONDON

Our mission is to provide young people (7-13 years old) with the opportunity to learn about art history in depth via hands-on experiences that bring subjects to life in a fun and engaging manner. Whether your child loves painting and drawing, has a fascination with puzzles and riddles, or has recently started to develop strong views about the world, Vincent and Frida will help to cultivate in them a lifelong curiosity about the art they see around them. Our courses will teach students a number of valuable skills including the ability to closely and carefully study artworks, analyse visual information, draw connections with other sociopolitical topics, question historical beliefs and form their own opinions on a broad range of subjects. The immersive and fun courses will run during school term time, with 9 sessions per term. UPCOMING EVENTS Our classes can be booked as a trial lesson (subject to availability). Trial lessons demonstrate our course structure and allow students and parents alike to experience what makes our teaching methods so compelling and unique. Each taster session will focus on a different topic. Schedule for the Autumn term 2020 (starting on 3rd October ): Art of Mesopotamia (oldest naturalistic image of a human) Ancient Egypt (importance of afterlife) Ancient Rome (grandure and opulance) Ancient Egypt (first portraits) Byzantium (creating heaven on Earth) Ancient China ( guóhuà or the beauty of stillness) Medieval Art (bestiaries and magical creatures) Gothic Art (stained glass to dazzle and enchant) Overview of Early Art (recap previous learning and have fun playing games) Sessions will be held online on ZOOM and face-to-face in The Observatory, 64 Marchmont St, London, WC1N 1AB. Salford,

Short Supply is a bridge between emerging artists and arts organisations, producing exhibitions, workshops and talks to create enriching environments that allow us to platform, connect and exchange knowledge alongside emerging artists in the north west and nationally. Being the change we want to see and all that. For the last two years, we’ve balanced Short Supply with full time paid work to pay the bills (like most artists, we see you Rishi). We’ve also relied on the generosity of artists, designers, organisers, space-givers, all-round-good-eggs to share their time with us. This is how the artist-led scene works most of the time, a good deed for a good deed, we love it but we think we all deserve a bit more than that. Short Supply has become a full time job, as we move towards getting our own space, commissioning artist work, spreading artist-led activities beyond major cities and partnering with more and more organisations who need our help to link up with you lot. We’re very excited about it all, but even our quick little mitts can’t keep up with our current email load. Over the next year, the goal for us is to become self-sufficient, to finance projects on our own terms while sharing our knowledge, resources and time with you. Our Patreon page is to help us get there, to allow us to take more time off the day jobs to focus on sustaining and growing the support that we’ve been giving so far. Notable projects include our graduate art prize MADE IT (exhibitions at HOME, Rogue Artists' Studios, Paradise Works), our Arts Council England funded tour around the north west Goin Places Doin Bits, collaborations with Islington Mill, SOUP, Manchester Pride, UKNA and our programming for organisations like Manchester Art Gallery, Institute of International Visual Arts, The Whitworth and Culture Warrington.

Neuroscience of Dance

neuroscience of dance

This project is the vessel through which I teach about the brain mechanisms of dance in a fun, engaging manner so that everyone can access and get the maximum benefits from dancing. Oftentimes, the focus in dance science and dance education is turned to the body, leaving behind it's connection to the mind and brain. Understanding the brain mechanisms in dance can improve performance, make classes more inclusive, prevent injury and optimize both learning and teaching. In the workshops I provide the theory in a dynamic fashion, always applying it to practice promoting embodied cognition and equipping dancers with easy-to-apply techniques. In a fast-paced world where we are often disconnected from ourselves, my focus is to use the body as a tool of learning and give the what and the how in a practical and interesting way. Part of the workshops is dedicated to initiating conversation and exchange insights. Experiencing and sharing experiences leads to greater knowledge that includes subjective and objective aspects of knowing. My approach is based on scientific evidence-based knowledge, my background in dance (performing, teaching), coaching, and mental health experience. By being embedded in academia and being an active student, I keep up-to-date with the most recent information in a constantly changing neuroscientific field. From this project, I have developed my own evidence-based method called Dance Integrated Healing which enhances all the healing properties of dance. The Dance Integrated Healing method is now being employed by the Dutch Mental Health Association. https://www.facebook.com/DanceIntegratedHealing
