DTLLS Online Training Course
The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training online course, previously known as a DTLLS online course (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector), is suitable for individuals already working in teaching, training, or tutoring.
Study Hours
The approximate study period for this qualification is 1200 hours. You can pace your learning to suit your lifestyle. Typically, learners complete this qualification within 9-12 months, although some may finish sooner.
This course is offered at level 5, focusing on theoretical understanding, critical analysis, specific referencing, and detailed reflection and evaluation. It will help you develop more effective classroom techniques and enable you to select suitable techniques and resources for adult education classes. Holders of a Level 4 Certificate in Education will only need to provide evidence of up to 70 hours. To gain the qualification, a minimum of 120 credits is required, including a minimum of 61 credits at level. The course covers description, explanation, evaluation, and referencing.
Assessment
This qualification is assessed through various methods to support your progress:
• 8 observations of your teaching sessions with groups (minimum of 5 students). These observations are usually conducted by another experienced teacher acting as an expert witness.
• A minimum of 100 hours of classroom teaching experience. You will need to maintain a teaching hours log.
• Assignments for each of the seven units in this qualification. The assignments range from 1000 to 2000 words and may require additional evidence such as lesson plans, teaching resources, and related paperwork.
• Personal statements and a record of your ongoing personal development.

You have up to 12 months to complete the required hours for this course. Most learners finish the course within 9-12 months, but the duration can vary depending on individual circumstances.

<h4 align="left"><strong>Duration and Delivery</strong></h4>
<p>This Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training course is designed to be completed online at the pace that suits you. Our Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training course can take as little as two months or 12 months, depending on your previous experience and dedication to the study. This teaching qualification is delivered through our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Our online tutor support is there to facilitate you to achieve your success rate accordingly. &nbsp;</p>
<h4 align="left"><strong>Assessment and Verification</strong></h4>
<p>All units within this course are internally assessed by our qualified assessors and externally verified by the awarding organisation. The assessment takes the form of written assignments, detailed guidance for which will be provided by the tutor once you&rsquo;re enrolled on our online portal. Practical requirements of this course include 100 hours of logged practise in teachers&rsquo; training and at least eight observations (each of one hour), which can be satisfied either through recording your teaching sessions or having your assessor observe you (which will be done virtually via video call).</p>
<h4 align="left"><strong>Progression</strong></h4>
<p>Successful completion of this qualification enables you to enhance your career profile and apply for QTLS status. For example, you can be employed as a state school teacher in the 14+ sector (for GCSE and A-Level students).</p>

<p>You will be assessed via a portfolio of evidence you submit containing five written assignments, teaching observation forms and a teaching log of 100 hours, which demonstrates the achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria associated with each unit. You would attempt most of the tasks through essay style written accounts and reflections of your teaching practices. In addition, some of the tasks would require submitting relevant work such as study resources that you prepared for your learners, lesson plans, scheme of work, ILPs, etc. Lastly, of course, eight of your teaching sessions, an hour-long each, will be observed by your assessor.</p>
