Insight Academy is an online global academy. Our global online courses teach such as public speaking, entrepreneurship, drama, STEM, interview strategies, revision techniques, and English for cultural and academic purpose. Our mission is to create young leaders for a global community that innovate solutions to real world problems. We do this through a philosophy of "learning by doing"; our courses are short, fun and interactive and bring students together from different cultures and nationalities. Through our courses, we shape thinking, inspire achievement and create future leaders with a global mindset. A portion of profits from some of our projects are donated to helping students from disadvantaged backgrounds achieve places at their dream university.

I work with natural elements to record places and periods of time, mainly using plants and their naturally occurring dyes. After a rural upbringing I moved to London in 2000 and have lived and worked here since. I graduated with a degree in Fine Art from Goldsmiths College in 2003 and recently completed the Artist Teacher Scheme at Oxford Brookes University with distinction. I am currently working as a freelance artist and teacher having previously taught art and photography in mainstream education for over a decade, becoming a head of department before deciding to concentrate on my own artistic practice after giving birth to my son. I continue my love of teaching by delivering workshops and courses. My current practice explores the change and growth of plants in my garden and other places which have significance to me. I work with time-based processes and alternative printmaking techniques, using pigments in plant dyes and rust, to record periods in time or the status of plants at a particular moment. I am interested in the unpredictability of these processes and the effects that they have both on the plants used to create them and the environment they are created in. I am currently investigating how nature can be used to record periods of time by creating work in the environment, documenting the effects of natural elements such as rain. I have work in private and public collections internationally and have exhibited nationally including at the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair for the past three years. I completed a residency in 2018 as part of the New: Defence arts project in Essex which culminated in a solo exhibition of the work I created.

My experience with yoga had been lightly scattered in-between other activities throughout my life, probably becoming more prominent in my early twenties and primarily used as a form of physical exercise. I was one of those people who left before Savasana because it gave my mind too much space and time to run free - in all honestly I found it relatively torturous and uncomfortable. At this point movement was for physical gain and mental distraction - which I’m sure many people can relate to. I had experienced issues with my mental health from a very young age and in 2015 was diagnosed with BPD. During that year I had two hospital admissions for issues relating to severe self harming and substance abuse. During my time as an inpatient we were offered yoga as a form of therapy, which I utilised but could not fully hold space for at the time, although the teacher gave me hope which was enough. Upon leaving I discovered the practice of Ashtanga with my wonderful teacher Mo Still based in Aberdeenshire. The structure, asana, pranayama and power filled me and I practiced daily. I don’t want to suggest that yoga can fix all problems, physical and mental, but what I will say is that having a practice to call my own and follow daily was crucial in my recovery.
