Our enthusiastic, friendly and experienced team, led by Jax Williams, are ready to help you get creative! Throw a pot on the wheel, join a weekly pottery class, create handprints & pawprints, paint pottery or visit our shop to buy handmade ceramics. We love introducing everyone to clay – dogs are welcome too. One of the great things about clay is that there’s no right or wrong. Just creativity, pleasure and the opportunity to unwind. Our exciting, interactive ceramics studio in North Devon is surrounded by beautiful rural countryside, just a five-minute drive from RHS Rosemoor Gardens.

Sundragon Pottery is a “not for profit” Community Association, run as a members club. It began life in late 2013, when Becky Belcher, Fiona Scanlan, and other refugees from the seven potteries that closed down in Birmingham (due to funding cuts), set up the studio to have somewhere to “play with clay”. It has flourished because of the hard work, determination, and benevolence of our members. We offer a variety of membership options and courses for experienced and aspiring potters of all ages and abilities, as well as one-on-one tutoring and pottery parties.

A pottery retreat where potters come to develop their throwing skills with the help and support of potter Jo Osman, and her apprentices Lyndsey, Derek and Yoko. Feast on Jo’s delicious breakfasts and biscuits and Penny’s fabulous lunches. Our 2022 courses are fully booked. 2023 courses to June are now available to book on our courses page. July-December courses will be advertised via our sign up newsletter in the first instance in February and then released on the website. We have a small showroom in the studio with a range of functional and decorative stoneware and porcelain available to buy. You are always welcome to visit the pottery, but it is best to give us a call if you are travelling here specially. The studio will be open for our Christmas Sale from the 3rd-11th December.

From prehistoric storage jars to tiles on the space shuttles, pottery and ceramics have played a key role in innumerable human endeavors. If you looking to try out some pottery classes here in Dorset, why not begin your journey now and start creating pieces yourself. Here at Cedar Pottery, I will guide you through the various techniques in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Hand building, throwing on the wheel, sculpturing can all be tried. Glazing can be fun too and I will help you to understand this interesting part of the art of pottery. You are more than welcome to visit the studio to find out more about the environment you will be working in, the classes available and have a chat about what you want to achieve. There are six places per pottery course meaning we can tailor the classes to suit you, your level of skill and your creativity! It doesn’t matter how much potting experience you have – total beginner or happy hobby potter. I can offer one-to-one time to tutor each individual, and so the making schedule can be flexible. I am a thrower, but can also tutor in hand building and sculpture work and will take you through the various techniques needed to throw good pots. Currently I have two electric wheels. We run 2 hour taster courses, 1/2 day and one-day courses and for those who want to really develop their skill, then we have a 8 week intensive course.

Cyan Clayworks is a working ceramics studio and social enterprise, where we make tableware (Chris) and sculptural handbuilt vessels (Fiona). Both of us have been working in ceramics since the mid 1990s, making work for exhibition, teaching, working in community settings, and undertaking commissions. At the studio we offer regular courses for adults, bespoke workshops, and individual tuition. We have also worked with professional artists, designers and students. Other services include a membership for keen amateurs who want to access the studio to make work untutored. All services must be booked in advance. Visitors are welcome (but strictly by appointment only); get in touch to arrange a visit.
