We are proud to be Peterborough’s first STEM-specialist school, giving young people the chance to follow a unique academic and technical curriculum into higher education or the world of work. The Economics, Business and Enterprise Association (EBEA) is the professional subject association for everyone interested in the teaching and study of Economics, Business and Enterprise. As a registered charity the association seeks to: provide members with professional support promote the teaching of Economics, Business Studies and Enterprise encourage curriculum development in these subjects The EBEA has been supporting teachers since 1937 when it was formed by Economics teachers as ‘The Economics Association’. With the development of business education in the latter part of the twentieth century and a growing interest in encouraging enterprise, the association became the Economics, Business and Enterprise Association (EBEA). The EBEA has played a significant part in the development of economics and business education in the UK in terms of both curricula and pedagogy. The association publishes both a termly journal, ‘Teaching Business and Economics’ and a monthly e-newsletter. Journal articles provide both practical guidance and evidence-based ideas for professional development. As an archive going back many years, indexed by subject, they represent an important ‘body of knowledge’ fundamental to business and economics teachers’ scholarly activity (SoTL). In addition, over the years, the EBEA has published or contributed to all the key texts setting out the latest thinking on subject specific pedagogy and curriculum planning. The association supports the development of new teachers through its Initial Teacher Education Group, members of which come from all the main ITE PGCE providers. Each January the association runs an online new teacher conference full of tips and guidance for trainees. Trainee teachers receive a heavily discounted subscription, giving them access to guidance and resources specifically aimed at their professional development. Through our advocacy work on behalf of members, the association also plays a vital role in working with key stakeholders such as DfE, Ofsted, Ofqual and others to ensure the school curriculum keeps up to date with the needs of young people. Over the years, that has included both consideration of the business and economics curricula at a subject level as well as whole school economic and financial literacy and the development of employability skills. The important work of The EBEA is heavily reliant on voluntary input from members ready to share their knowledge and expertise for the good of young people. Without such unselfish work, we believe, the learning and development of young learners in our subject field would be all the poorer and the nature of a good business and economic education determined by distant policy makers and bureaucrats. We are open Monday to Friday from 8am until 6pm all year round and closed on bank holidays and the period between christmas and new year Clarence House Nursery, set in the leafy West End of Glasgow, has indoor and outdoor facilities. Shirley Hexley, the nursery owner, has been providing wraparound childcare since 1998 for 0-5 year olds. Clarence House has an excellent reputation for having a calm and nurturing environment that encourages children to be independent, develop social skills and explore new experiences. Staff are committed to understanding the individual needs of each child and work closely with parents to consolidate learning and help each child reach their full potential. Clarence House is a small nursery and recent comments from parents have included “higglety pigglety” and “quirky”. Most visitors comment on the nice feeling they get when they come in. Because of the small size of the nursery it feels homely and welcoming. Children are not regulary moved about from room to room and this allows relationships to develop into meaningful and positive friendships that can last through to school. Each event is customised to fit in with the curriculum, specific requirements, diets or projects. Improving relationships with food in a fun way, Food is Fun is a community interest company that reinvests profits to make a difference to people's lives, promoting healthy eating for everyone in the South West. We deliver cooking and budgeting courses and workshops to various groups across Plymouth, teaching the benefits of healthy eating and how achieving a nutritious and balanced diet for the whole family can be achieved on a low budget.   Food Is Fun CIC created what we thought would be a small group to support others with food worries caused by the pandemic. Three years on we've grown our group hugely. It’s been a tough year and food has been a huge part of that for many of us. We’ve been on an incredible journey together – baking, trying new recipes, swapping ingredients when they’re unavailable, sharing money saving tips, growing our own fruit and vegetables and sharing our successes, as well as the lessons we have learned.
