Welcome to St Hubert’s Pre-School at Warley Baptist Church, where we want every child to be inspired to grow, play, learn and develop by providing your child with a safe, nurturing, holistic and caring environment for children ages 2-4 years old. We pride ourselves in ensuring your child gets the very best, to enhance their learning whilst in our care and this is reflected in our recent Ofsted inspection, where we have been classed as OUTSTANDING with the following comments. Leadership is inspirational. The management team demonstrates an uncompromising commitment towards achieving excellence in all areas. Self-evaluation is highly reflective and continuous, reviewing all areas of practice to identify more-successful ways of working. Leaders demonstrate an excellent capacity to maintain this quality over time. Staff have an excellent knowledge and understanding about how children learn and develop. They attend a variety of training courses meticulously matched to the learning needs of the children they care for. This strong focus on developing the skills and knowledge of staff results in all children making exceptional progress in their learning and development in relation to their starting points, The key-person system is embedded effectively in practice and staff are highly effective in supporting children’s emotional well-being, particularly when they first start and when they move from room to room within the playgroup. Children thrive at this welcoming, all-inclusive provision. Close attachments between the children and the staff are obvious. Children’s behaviour is exceptional. The manager and staff accurately monitor children’s development to highlight any areas where they might need extra support. They quickly help them to catch up if needed. The manager also looks at different groups of children to see if the setting can make improvements to support those particular cohorts.

Last modified: 04/10/2019 International courses and workshops for researchers writing for refereed journal publication Great writing is not primarily about grammar or even about word choice. It’s about structure, and more specifically about putting information where readers have been trained to see it. However, this is not what most people are taught. Writers are often handed a lot of “rules” that do little or nothing to improve their writing. You probably know them: Avoid passives. Vary your language. Shorten sentences. Paragraphs must have an explicit topic sentence, 3 supporting sentences and a concluding sentence. Jargon sounds academic. Data equals thinking. Write the way you talk. Fix your grammar and you’re fine. Word choice is everything. Sentences should be under 29 words long. Never start a sentence with but, however or because. Never split infinitives. And so on… These are both disempowering and (in the main) untrue, yet many teachers continue to dish them out. This course is different – really different. In the 10-week course, five class sessions are concerned with structures that will help participants produce a first draft. The next five sessions cover, in detail, a dynamic system for altering that first draft, making it understandable to others without following any of the above ‘rules’. The intensive 5-day course begins with a first draft, and consists of morning group sessions based on that draft, followed by afternoons revising (first for structure and content, but in the last three days also for readability). A selection of topics will be omitted from the 5-day course. The course continues with email support as needed until the article is submitted to a refereed journal (and through the entire revision and acceptance process)

Thank you for visiting our website. This page is to help you understand a little more about our background and ethics. As the Managing Director & Lead Trainer of 1st ACT Ltd, my role is to co-ordinate the training, the syllabuses, the trainers and the venues to make your experience the best it can be. We've made changes over the last 10 years, all based on client feedback. My personal First Aid background goes back to 1990, when I joined the British Army and was being trained and fully prepared to serve in the golf war. First Aid is obviously a priority for all our military personnel, but when you feel it could be needed soon, it definitely makes you sit up and listen. At least it did with me, so much so that I wanted to know more and more about the amazing human body. After leaving the forces it appeared to me, to be a natural progression to enter into the Emergency Services, so after a few years with Wiltshire Fire Brigade I moved onto London Fire Brigade in 2000. With our First Aid knowledge and some with training backgrounds, my colleagues and I were asked to assess and then train First Aid for a few large companies based around the South East of England. I setup and established 1st ACT in April 2007 (becoming a Limited Company in April 2015) with the aim of making life saving skills affordable to all without dropping any of the high standards often found in larger organisations. With 1st ACT Ltd you still get the same wealth of experience and high level of training but at prices our competitors simply cannot come close to on Ofqual regulated courses!
