In this exciting, educational and intriguing full day sea glass course, you will be shown how to make your own solid silver jewellery pieces incorporating sea glass and take away your own unique pieces to wear and treasure or as gifts for loved ones.&nbsp;In case you are wondering, sea glass is simply broken glass found on beaches and it has been smoothed by the sea and wind to provide a really effective and beautiful stone. We can provide the sea glass or you can bring your own. We have had people who have found sea glass on a beach that has special meaning for them and this can be used if it is the right size, shape and texture.Our instructor, Louise, is fully qualified as a senior tutor and holds an Art Clay Higher Diploma and has been teaching sea glass jewellery making for over ten years. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced jeweller, Louise is on hand to help you create your own designs from silver clay and sea glass. You&#39;ll be guided by Louise to help you make at least three jewellery pieces depending upon size and complexity of your pieces for you to treasure and take away!&nbsp;Louise has a relaxed, informal approach with the aim of having fun as well as learning and creating lovely pieces of jewellery. Please come and experience the course yourself and add new items to your jewellery collection!What actually happens on the course?Louise will introduce you to the art of making silver jewellery incorporating sea glass. There are three main methods to embed the sea glass in your jewellery piece:&nbsp;1) a stand alone silver bezel which clasps the sea glass&nbsp;2) a silver clay piece with a bezel added to clasp your sea glass&nbsp;3) a silver clay piece with a ring to hang the sea glass in a pendant.&nbsp;Depending upon the complexity of your pieces and what you want to make, you will normally use all three methods to make three different pieces.&nbsp;In her introduction, Louise will tell you about silver clay and will explain how the clay will become solid silver pieces of beautiful jewellery enhanced by the sea glass by the end of your course.In the course, as mentioned, you will try the three different methods to make three different pieces.1. &nbsp;Bezel claspYou will think about the design of your piece. You will learn how to prepare your sea glass and your bezel before placing the sea glass in the bezel. You will then clasp the bezel before finishing your piece with polishing and adding a ring if it is to be a necklace pendant.2. &nbsp;Bezel in silver clayYou will learn how to prepare your silver clay before embedding the bezel. You will follow the&nbsp;silver clay manufacturing process*&nbsp;before finally adding the sea glass into the clasp and applying the finishing touches to your piece.3. &nbsp; Silver clay sea glass hanging pendantYou will follow the&nbsp;silver clay manufacturing process*&nbsp;to make the silver clay pendant incorporating a hanging ring. You will also learn how to drill sea-glass to create a hole to hang on to the ring before finishing your piece.With the silver clay methods, you can add small sea treasure pieces made from silver clay in which case you will then learn how to create silicone moulds of sea treasure and use them to make sea themed silver charms&nbsp;*&nbsp;Silver Clay manufacturing processJust a word on this process and what it incorporates. It starts with a piece of silver clay which you will mould into your own design. Louise is on hand to help you with this and the whole process. Louise will then show you how to fire your piece. This process removes particles in the clay to leave a solid silver piece of jewellery of Hallmark quality. You will then polish your creation. This whole process never ceases to amaze people, transforming a piece of silver clay into a final polished solid silver jewellery piece for you to show off with pride.At the end of the course you have created your gorgeous, unique nature inspired Jewellery. Nicola Slee is a theologian, writer and spiritual director. Author of numerous books exploring feminist theology, liturgy and spirituality, and much more. Her academic posts are: Professorial Research Fellow at the Queen&#39;s Foundation, Professor of Feminist Practical Theology at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam &amp; Visiting Professor at the University of Chester.

Nicola will help us to explore how our language and imagery for God plays out in prayer and spirituality, taking into account feminist and other critiques of dominant patriarchal and hierarchical God language and imagery. The evening will include input from Nicola, use of prayer and poetry, conversation in small groups and interaction with the speaker. 

Nicola Slee is a theologian, writer, poet and spiritual director. 
Nicola has wide-ranging experience of adult education and has a particular interest in feminist theology, practical theology and the role of poetry and the arts in Christian education and life. She has written numerous books and articles, exploring feminist theology, liturgy, spirituality, and much more.
She is Professorial Research Fellow at the Queen's Foundation for Ecumenical Theological Education, Birmingham; Professor of Feminist Practical Theology (the Queen’s chair) at The Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and Visiting Professor at the University of Chester.

She would really love to see more strong, memorable women in crime. In bookclub fiction, voices that have stayed with her are Adduni in The Girl With The Louding Voice, Cyril in The Heart&rsquo;s Invisible Furies and Molly in The Maid. Recently, Kitty in How To Kill Men and Get Away With It had Laura secretly rooting for her serial killer antics.Laura loves to be engrossed by a pacy, twisty, surprising plot. It doesn&rsquo;t need to be overly complex &ndash; sometimes the simplest ideas are the best. She wants to be thrown curveballs she never saw coming and be kept guessing until the last page. Books Laura has devoured are Nightwatching, The Housemaid, The Last Mrs Parrish, Fourth Wing, None of This is True and&nbsp;American Dirt.Books that play with genre also capture Laura. Novels such as Wrong Place, Wrong Time which combined a crime mystery and the story of a mother&rsquo;s love with a speculative element and The Time Traveller&rsquo;s Wife, a high-concept love story which crossed time and age.Laura is a huge fan of true crime and would love to read a fiction version of podcasts she has been gripped by. She really enjoys cold cases being reopened as a result of new evidence or technology which exposes past injustices such as on Bone Valley, In The Dark or Who Killed Emma?&nbsp;She is particularly drawn to stories of deep deception or &lsquo;scams&rsquo; such as those by Anna Delvey or Coco Berthmann, Tinder Swindler or Fyre Festival.&nbsp;Laura is always intrigued by anything involving investigation into cults, such as in BBC Sound&rsquo;s World of Secrets.She also loves nothing more than sobbing her heart out over a book and being left emotionally wrung-out! Whether it be a devastating historical tragedy or star-crossed lovers torn apart by destiny. &nbsp;Books that have broken her heart include The Bridges of Madison County, The Kite Runner,&nbsp;The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, Birdsong, My Sister&rsquo;s Keeper, Cilka&rsquo;s Journey&nbsp;and Four Winds.In non-fiction, Laura is looking for an untold story or perspective or an unexplored area where you have expertise or real-life experience. As a reader of non-fiction she wants to be &nbsp;engaged in a relatable, accessible way. She loved the evocative settings and personal journeys in The Salt Path&nbsp;and The Wild Other. The laugh-out-loud More Than A Woman had her ordering this for many friends. Three Women and Educated are brilliant examples of non-fiction books that read like fiction. Laura studied law at university and spent over 20 years at Virgin Atlantic which allowed her to indulge her passion for reading whilst travelling.
On deciding to pursue a career in publishing, Laura joined the Darley Anderson Agency where she worked across the Women’s Fiction list, reading submissions, handling contracts and supporting authors on their path to publication and beyond.
She co-founded Greenstone Literary with Tanera Simons in 2024 and is excited to build a list of authors.
Laura is looking for commercial crime, thriller, suspense, bookclub, historical and romance fiction as well as select non-fiction.
Above everything she wants to be entertained. Laura is looking for a book you can’t wait to talk to someone about, in the same way as a new film or the latest release on Netflix. A book that engrosses her from the first page to the last, desperate for someone she knows to read so they can discuss as soon as possible.
It will always be an original hook that draws Laura in, a whole concept that can be summed up in one line that immediately stops her in my tracks and makes her think.
Character and voice is also crucial. Laura is a huge fan of Mick Herron’s Jackson Lamb, Richard Osman’s Thursday Murder Club cast and Lynda La Plante’s Jane Tennison. She would really love to see more strong, memorable women in crime. In bookclub fiction, voices that have stayed with her are Adduni in The Girl With The Louding Voice, Cyril in The Heart’s Invisible Furies and Molly in The Maid. Recently, Kitty in How To Kill Men and Get Away With It had Laura secretly rooting for her serial killer antics.
Laura loves to be engrossed by a pacy, twisty, surprising plot. It doesn’t need to be overly complex – sometimes the simplest ideas are the best. She wants to be thrown curveballs she never saw coming and be kept guessing until the last page. Books Laura has devoured are Nightwatching, The Housemaid, The Last Mrs Parrish, Fourth Wing, None of This is True and American Dirt.
Books that play with genre also capture Laura. Novels such as Wrong Place, Wrong Time which combined a crime mystery and the story of a mother’s love with a speculative element and The Time Traveller’s Wife, a high-concept love story which crossed time and age.
Laura is a huge fan of true crime and would love to read a fiction version of podcasts she has been gripped by. She really enjoys cold cases being reopened as a result of new evidence or technology which exposes past injustices such as on Bone Valley, In The Dark or Who Killed Emma? She is particularly drawn to stories of deep deception or ‘scams’ such as those by Anna Delvey or Coco Berthmann, Tinder Swindler or Fyre Festival. Laura is always intrigued by anything involving investigation into cults, such as in BBC Sound’s World of Secrets.
She also loves nothing more than sobbing her heart out over a book and being left emotionally wrung-out! Whether it be a devastating historical tragedy or star-crossed lovers torn apart by destiny. Books that have broken her heart include The Bridges of Madison County, The Kite Runner, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, Birdsong, My Sister’s Keeper, Cilka’s Journey and Four Winds.
In non-fiction, Laura is looking for an untold story or perspective or an unexplored area where you have expertise or real-life experience. As a reader of non-fiction she wants to be engaged in a relatable, accessible way. She loved the evocative settings and personal journeys in The Salt Path and The Wild Other. The laugh-out-loud More Than A Woman had her ordering this for many friends. Three Women and Educated are brilliant examples of non-fiction books that read like fiction. Laura Williams is literary agent at the Greene and Heaton Literary Agency. She is seeking literary fiction, commercial fiction, psychological thrillers and high concept Young Adult.
Laura is actively building a fiction list and a small non-fiction list. She is currently looking for literary fiction, edgy commercial fiction, psychological thrillers and high-concept contemporary young adult, as well as narrative non-fiction of all types. Her taste is quite dark, and she loves gothic, ghost stories, horror and anything sinister. She also loves books that make her cry, from big love stories to intense family dramas. She is open to historical or horror YA, but not magical or fantasy. 
Meditative or moving novels about modern life, appeal to Laura, sad stories with love and the importance of caring for each other shining through. M03 - Specialised and Advanced Phlebotomy Equipment:
The centrifuge - overview. Safe operation and use. Managing a centrifuge breakage or spillage.
Equipment and practices in unusual situations.
Patients with special needs and requiring specific attention.
Equipment preparation for blood samples that are collected at
0 degrees, 37 degrees C and other non-standard conditions.
A look at advances in technology and how to use the latest devices.

Using the Monovette system in aspiration mode - correct use and applications.
Using the Monovette system in evacuated mode - correct use and applications.
4 - IR Vein Detector:
Demonstration of the IR vein detector for assisting in detection of difficult veins.
5 - Veins in back of hand:
Detecting suitable veins in the back of the hand.
6 - POC testing:
Point of Care Testing - use of glucose meter to demonstrate a typical POC test procedure. Correct use and overview of other POC test devices.
7 - Using lancets (finger collection)
We look at the correct use of lancets for POC testing and whole blood micro-collection.
8 - Using lancets (heel collection)
We look at the correct use of lancets for neonatal blood spot tests (Guthrie Test).
9 - Capillary collection
Using glass capillary tubes for micro-collection. Correct use and handling.
10 - Microtube collection
Correct use of BD Microtainers (and similar micro-collection bottles) - collection and handling.

In YA, she is looking for much the same as in an adult fantasy, but with younger protagonists and a closer focus on relationships. She wants to see the tropes she knows and loves in new and exciting forms and her favourite YA books often centre around belonging and becoming.
