Youth Engagement Solutions Ltd (YES) is a charity based in North West London, formed in the summer of 2015, after previously existing as a project within a parent charity. We work from our office in Wembley, but deliver across NW London and beyond. Our Aims YES aims to improve the lives of young people aged 10-30 , from all backgrounds, across the capital. We do this through: Employment Enterprise Education Mentoring Health & wellbeing for individuals and families Physical activities and football / football coaching Enrichment programmes and intervention Highly rated sports and educational workshops What Makes YES We work on the ground with every customer to watch them thrive, grow and cheer them on! Our Objectives To improve social mobility and community cohesion among 10-30 year old Londoners from disadvantaged backgrounds, by: Increasing youth access to employment through support, training and education – Over 260 jobs secured since 2016. Promoting and supporting physical & mental health and wellbeing of young people. Reducing offending, re-offending and antisocial behaviour – Over 400 young people aged between 4-17 have been involved in our prevention youth projects. Providing opportunities for young people to positively affect their surrounding environment through work experience, projects and education. Challenging young people’s attitudes and the stigma attached to accepting help. Developing Cricklewood Wanderers Football Club through the English Football League System or “Football Pyramid”.

We are all very proud of our academy and its successes. In June 2022, Ofsted visited us and judged the Academy 'Good'. We offer funded Nursery provision and a thriving Primary Phase. We are also delighted about our greatly improved examination results and that Swindon Academy is the number one school in Swindon, and in the top 4% of schools nationally, for Progress 8 measures. Additionally, we are proud of our popular Grammar Stream provision from Year 7, which provides a unique educational experience for very able students from across Swindon. We also have the most comprehensive provision of enrichment activities for students in the area and we are able to offer entry to our welcoming and successful Sixth Form to students from other schools. The Young Reporter Scheme has been running since 2008 in partnership with Newsquest Media Group. It is a quality programme, delivering lectures and teachings to help mould young people, not only into the world of the media, but also into worthwhile careers for the future. Starting with two pilot schools and a handful of students in South West London, it grew exponentially and since then we have taken thousands of students through the process. Initially, students from the two pilot schools, wrote for The Local Guardian online newspaper but as the scheme grew, we extended the range of titles and now they write for Newsquest’s range of online newspapers throughout the entire of the UK. The scheme is open to Years 10, 11, 12 and 13 and students start their ‘writing career’ uploading articles directly onto the Newsquest websites, within specified deadlines and categories.   What is involved?  • Students sign up for eight months writing one article per month  • ALL articles are published on our online newspapers  • The scheme runs from September through to April of each academic year  • All those completing the scheme receive a written recommendation  • At the end of the scheme, there is a chance to go forward and compete for prizes  • Winners receive an undergraduate day at a London University  • Top thirty-three students attend a Media Award Ceremony  • One student from each age group becomes the face of Young Reporter for the next year   • Students doing Duke of Edinburgh can do the scheme as one of their skills   Costs  There is a minimal administration charge from the school and an additional cost for each student All monies received purely cover the running costs of the scheme, supporting students and mentoring sessions, as we are totally self-funding.
