People often tell me that they love watching dance and would love to do it themselves. When I ask them why they don't, I am often met with the answers "I''ve got two left feet" or "It would be too embarrassing". I have even heard the shocking response: "I was laughed at in the last class I attended". Dance is supposed to be fun; it is about enjoying our bodies and seeing what they can do. I have been dancing since I was three years old, I can't imagine living without dance as a way of expression. I would love for those who already love dance, or who would like to be involved in dance but feel too self-concious, to join me in a fun relaxed environment. I truly believe that dance is for everybody.

The idea for this site came as my sister and I were practically passed out after an amazing massage at Rituels d’Orient in Barcelona in 2010, and it was the first step down a path of exploring my passions and sharing them with others. I just thought, wouldn’t it be great if you could offer this holiday to everyone; a safe, easy, affordable spa and hotel break – the kind that you could take your mum on and know that she would enjoy it. I hope that this website can do for travel what Gok Wan has done for fashion • Help you to find a good quality, affordable break somewhere new and exciting, that will replace the same old panic buys • Give you a designer spa holiday experience for a budget holiday price As much as I love looking through holiday sites on the internet, sometimes the amount of choice just gets too much – and then I find myself on Tripadvisor trying to figure out which of the rave reviews are made up and which of the nasty ones are just people who were having a bad day. I aim to only recommend one affordable hotel, spa, sight, top restaurant, everyday restaurant, and shopping tip in each location, so you can easily create your break with no need to search through all the travel websites or experience Jellyfish. London is the exception, but even here, in my home town, I will only recommend the exceptional (and that includes exceptional value.) In October 2009 I had 2 weeks holiday from work. I would have loved to have booked something but I was so burnt out and confused by all the choice that I gave up. I had a nice time – I spent time with my family, went to IMBS for a massage, took up yoga again, did lots of DIY, visited the Cotswolds and even surfed at East Wittering, but I also decided to never let myself get that run down again. So amongst the great spa and hotel breaks that I’ll be sharing here are also ideas for escapes that take a few minutes, hours or just a day, everyday escapes that you can indulge in, if you just can’t face the idea of packing a bag or getting on a plane. We all love to get away, but as the person who gets asked to sort out the travel details, by boyfriends, family and even my work colleagues (who are desperate for me to organise a trip to my favourite Moroccan spa) I also know how great it would be sometimes to just find a value for money holiday at the click of a button – and I hope you’ll find it here! And I hope you will tell me if there are things you want that aren’t here yet, and what you think of these escapes.

Marina started the Marina School of Dance in Whitchurch in October 2009 after graduating from the Royal Academy of Dance. The school started with just Ballet and quickly added ISTD Tap and Modern classes into the timetable. We currently have a massive range of classes including Acrobatic Arts, Street Dance, Contemporary, Musical Theatre and most recently Latin. Our team of teachers is constantly growing and all our teachers are encouraged to continually update their knowledge and training in order to give our students the best quality lessons. Marina and the team are members of many teaching organisations in order make sure that all lessons are the most current and up to date syllabus, this also means we can enter students for exams if they wish. Marina School of Dance follows the Royal Academy of Dance Ballet Syllabus, the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing Tap, Modern and Contemporary Syllabus and The Acrobatic Arts syllabus. After searching for a ‘home’ for many years we moved into our new studio in Overton in September 2020, whilst still continuing with our Whitchurch classes to be able to provide lots of options for local families. The new studio means we can offer a huge variety of classes and really make the most of the beautiful facilities. With shows, exams and performances every year there is always something exciting to look forward to. New pupils are always welcome, with or without any experience. We pride ourselves on including and providing opportunities for every single child. All children are encouraged to do their best and to work hard, whilst still having an amazing time and making lots of friends. We are very lucky to have wonderful students and families who are very supportive of the school, making us one big happy dance family. Welcome to Laura Wilson School of Dance Founded in 2002, Laura Wilson School of Dance, now based in its own dedicated studios in Holmes Chapel, teaches over 350 students a week across a range of disciplines. The main focus of our school is for students to have fun whilst developing an appreciation for music, movement and dance. We teach dance at all levels to children aged from 4-18 as well as adult classes, and we regularly host performances in local theatres and other venues. We also prepare our students for higher-level auditions, with a number of former students successfully entering the English Youth Ballet and Northern Ballet Theatre School.
