She graduated from Royal Holloway, University of London in 2020 with a BA degree in English and History, before joining Kate Nash Literary Agency in 2021. Saskia loves commercial fiction that features complex and dynamic characters and is fascinated by stories containing document inserts or written from multiple perspectives. Saskia enjoys commercial and book club fiction and is particularly looking for cosy crime from any period (whether contemporary like Janice Hallett and Richard Osman, traditional Golden Age murder mystery or historical), WW2 historical fiction in the vein of Heather Morris or Markus Zusak, twisty psychological thriller with a unique hook, LGBTQ+ romance, underrepresented voices and perspectives, YA thriller or romance, and locked-room thriller. Saskia would like you to submit a covering letter, 1 page synopsis and the first 2,500 words of your manuscript in a single word document. Our first barbershop opens on George Street, it had three floors and was frequently visited by city gents, Sheffield workers and visitors to Sheffield. This was the beginning for generations to come. We opened a hairdressing salon in the basement of the Grand Hotel. This was situated right in the heart of Sheffield city centre. The salon was frequently visited by theatre goers and Sheffield people. The Surrey Street barbershop opens and was visited by city gents, Sheffield workers, and visitors to Sheffield. The George Street salon was bombed and destroyed during WW2. Our first suburban salon opens.

The team at Blade Education highly values lived experience as a central part of any successful project. We believe that the answers to many issues begin with valuing what members of any community can tell us about what they need for a successful outcome. Wherever possible, we hold lessons, sessions, and events outside. All ages and all kinds of people get involved in Blade Education projects. People have volunteered for us from the age of 8 to 103. From HMS Leigh, a community led heritage and arts project that connected people of all ages with the history of Southend Pier, also known as HMS Leigh, during WW2. Supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the Arts Council and Southend Borough Council, this project was created as part of the VE 75 celebrations in 2020 and survived to be one of the first post pandemic lockdown in person events in September 2021. Our latest project, Southend Safer Care Leavers has developed a free online information service for young people supporting the knowledge already given and ensuring they are ready to take charge of their own health care. Thanks to all our supporters and volunteers from a wide range of organisations and funders, Blade Education for nearly two decades has been able to offer wonderful learning experiences to thousands of children, families, and the general public. Ladywell Pre-school proudly presents our Nature Reserve / Forest Cafe At LADYWELL PRE-SCHOOL WE WORK OFF OF CREATIVE POSITIVE ENERGY! During the pandemic when indoor trips were a big NO NO we decided to make our own trip facilities onsite, by re vamping our corridor that housed bags and coats into our own Nature reserve and Forest Cafe. Remembrance Day On Armistice Day we decided to focus on one person from WW2. Ena Collymore-Woodstock OBE is believed to be the oldest surviving female veteran of the British Army at 103. We had many discussions with the children about Ena and the meaning behind the poppy. It was fantastic to hear the children could recall the information.

Taleblazers is a Community Interest Company that celebrates the stories of Devon and Dartmoor. We do this by researching tales from our region, rewriting them into original works and performing them as ballads or folk poems. Oral storytelling is an art we are passionate about preserving and we aim to engage young people in particular by involving them in writing and performance. We offer workshops in a variety of educational areas (heritage, natural history, ecology) to schools and historic sites and our workshops are tailored to locations to make them as relevant as possible to the groups we work with. As part of the research and writing process, we get involved with local heritage projects and promote the heritage and folklore of the areas we work in. We believe we can ‘Change the Story, Change the World’ and this philosophy informs our work with young people with additional needs. We operate a number of alternative education programmes based around the natural work, arts and outdoor skills, helping to develop social skills, mental health, resilience and vocational skills.
