My name is Heather Dugdale and I am a local lass who has always loved animals, especially dogs and horses.  My Grandfather had a small holding in Kilwinning where he bred Clydesdales and Springer Spaniels,  so I think it’s definitely in the genes.  After many years of working with the Council as an IT Technician I decided to start studying dog behaviour and science based training in the hope that I could become a Dog Trainer when I retired, lucky enough for me I was given the opportunity to take early release (sounds like a prison sentence!) and follow my passion . In 2017 I gained an Ofqual recognised level 4 Diploma in Canine Behaviour Management and Training from Animal Jobs Direct,  and passed an Animal Behaviour and Welfare course from the University of Edinburgh,  successfully completed a Dog Emotion and Cognition course with Duke University and  went on to assist a fully qualified Kennel Club Instructor with her Canis Dog Training Classes which where invaluable,  and gave me the hands on experience I needed to start my own classes. I continued my education and became a member and accredited trainer with the IMDT , having passed my exam with a distinction in 2021.  I gained membership of the APDT in June 2023, which is a highly valued organisation in the Professional Dog Training Industry,  and with this rigorous exam came the opportunity to be listed on the ABTC register, which is a Council that sets and maintains standards of knowledge and practical skills needed to be an animal trainer, training instructor or animal behaviour therapist and is used by shelters and vets.    At present I am also a member of the Kennel Club,  and my club is listed for the Good Citizen Award Scheme, which is probably the most well-known training scheme in the world,  but you don't need to sit any exams,  just have fun training and if you change your mind as you become more confident,  why not go for it!  so if you would like to find out more then please visit  https://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/training/good-citizen-dog-training-scheme/ [https://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/training/good-citizen-dog-training-scheme/] . I also provide 1-2-1 training for those people who need to set their own timetable. In the near future I hope to become a Kennel Club Accredited Instructor for both Companion Dog Training, assistance dogs, and the Good Citizen Award scheme,  this kitemark of quality and excellence is also highly valued in the Dog Training Industry.   In the distant future, I hope to become a fully qualified behaviorist and add this to my list of services.    I think training should be fun, and I believe happy dogs make for happy owners, and that’s why I chose the name Heathers Happy Hounds.  So come and have some fun!

Who Can a Neurodevelopment Program Help? When I tell people that I am a neurodevelopment therapist, this is the most common question, and if you are looking at this website, the chances are you are looking for help for yourself or you child and most of all you want to know if you are in the right place. So simply put, neurodevelopment therapy is a way of giving the brain and neurological system a second chance at development. When some of the developmental stages are missed, primitive reflexes don't get a chance to develop properly or develop and remain active when they should have gone away. A reflex is an action that the body has no conscious control over, such as closing your eyes when you sneeze. We are most familiar with the moro reflex in babies, when they startle and fling their arms wide, then cling and cry. Reflex movements, which start from 5 weeks in utero, build the nervous system, allow the brain and body to organise and develop so that eventually you can stand, move, think and function with ease. When these processes don't develop as they should then problems can develop such as poor focus, balance, impulse control, anxiety, social interaction, reading and writing, sensory processing and other issues. Children then get labelled and lose their confidence. In many cases, all that is required is a reorganisation of the neurological system. A neurodevelopment programme can be used as a stand alone therapy or can be used alongside any other programme or treatment.

Penny Parks Training is the authorised training provider of Parks Inner Child Therapy (PICT). Parks Inner Child Therapy provides rapid and painless resolution of trauma & childhood abuse to the many victims worldwide. Although originally devised in the late 1970s this therapy model has continually evolved to remain at the cutting edge of the resolution of trauma, childhood abuse & emotional challenges. It is probably the most effective model available with the most significant feature being that it can bring about change gently as there is no need to disclose any details of traumatic events. The rapidity of its effectiveness has been enhanced by the introduction, in 1996, of the PICT Quick Change model, devised originally to cater for clients from overseas; where resolution may be completed in a series of 5 consecutive days of 4 hour sessions. (The QC 4 hour sessions can also be offered in weekly, 2 or 3 day formats). Penny Parks Training also provides a valuable resource to clients, practitioners and health professionals, as well as anyone interested in the topic of childhood abuse and its related subjects. Penny Parks herself was consulted as an expert in the field by health professionals, the media and in legal cases. Whilst this site is a comprehensive resource in the field of Child Abuse (recognition, treatment & training), if you cannot find the information you require please contact us directly and we will endeavour to provide the help you are seeking.
