I love to experiment with printmaking techniques that can be done at home. Currently though, I am really enjoying painting portraits using acrylics. This is a painting of my husband Alexei and my dream dog.My name is Gaby Weigert. From the start I spent every spare minute creating, making, cutting and sticking. My favourite thing to do was when my parents asked me to look after a visitor's younger child and I would create activities for them often creating a lot of mess! I complete my degree at Glasgow School of Art in Textiles where I got to experiment with loads of dyes, printing processes and techniques. I continued my love of printmaking at Camberwell College of Art with an MA in Fine Art Printmaking

’m Vicky, I’m a wife, mum and Textile Artist and I love being creative, I studied a Textiles Degree at Winchester School of Art and have recently finished my City and Guilds in Machine Embroidery which was an absolute joy to do and has helped inspire my more recent work – combining it with hand embroidery techniques to enhance it. I enjoy dyeing and printing my own fabrics to create interesting backgrounds, blending colour washes, printing and mark making to create unique pieces of art to stitch onto. I work from my home studio in Surrey which has provided me with a rich source of inspiration from nature – from the colours and texture of bark to the serenity and beauty in the local landscapes.

Hi, I'm Skye. I’m based in Frome, Somerset and am the face behind slow stitch club. After studying fashion design at university, I graduated with a very different view of the industry, and wanted to push against it. From that point on I continued to learn and educate myself; about the vast quantities of clothing that is sent to landfill, the devastating environmental impacts of textiles production as well as the horrifying truths about garment workers and their lack of rights. The importance of caring for and extending the lives of the clothes that already exist in the world became hugely important to me, and I set out to help teach others about learning to fix their clothing through the practice of visible mending.

Wayward Weaves is a Stroud-based studio offering workshops in Saori, a form of weaving from Japan that encourages improvisation and free expression. Picture In Saori, there are no rules and no mistakes, just pure absorbtion and immersion in the weaving. Through Saori you can explore a wonderful world of colour and texture using just yarns, threads and your imagination. Beginners can learn to weave in an intuitive and relaxed way whilst more practiced weavers can find new inspiration, exploring techniques without a pattern or plan. Saori enables everyone to enjoy the rhythm and creativity of weaving regardless of age, experience, aptitude or disability. The basic skills are fun and easy to learn and most people are able to start creating their own unique textiles within minutes.

Meadows is a romantic and feminine collection inspired by Victoriana, prairie-style, and folklore. Centred around dresses, the collection is inspired by various sources. The white cotton styles with a focus on embroidery and lace draw their inspiration largely from Victorian undergarments. Floral printed cotton which is inspired from the Victoriana revival of the 1970s. The collection also dips into a wide selection of historical inspiration from Tudor to The Renaissance, and fuses them with a modern sensibility. Meadows is designed in Hackney, East London, by Australian born, Central Saint Martins graduate, Louise Markey. Meadows is committed to make clothes which are made in a safe, ethical environment where working conditions are fair. We pride ourselves in sustainable practices and ethical manufacturing. We embody innovative cuts, bold colours and fine fabrics which are produced ethically and encourage slow, sustainable fashion. We have boutique-sized factories in China which are meticulously and consistently monitored by our supplier agents. Our factories have signed on to our internal ethical and safety compliance documents which we manage, inspect and enforce internally. We conduct frequent audits and have a supportive relationship with our manufacturers. These audits cover areas such as worker safety, gender equality and payment of a living wage. Meadows has made a long term aim to source more sustainable fabrics. We use industry standard textiles dyes which undergo rigorous testing before being used in the market and only Oeko-Tex certified printing inks. We are currently in the process of moving our products into Global Organic Textile Standard certified organic textiles and aim to source wool yarn exclusively from suppliers who adhere to the Responsible Wool Standard.

Artroom Gallery was established in September 2007 with the aim of highlighting talented UK artists and designer-makers, giving the public the opportunity to purchase special, unique, hand - crafted artworks. Lancashire and northern artists feature prominently, many of whom are members of Lancashire Makers, some from Garstang. Artwork is carefully selected by owner Helen Carr with the emphasis on beauty, quality, and originality. The Artroom Gallery streams with light making it an ideal space for viewing art and craft. Helen has a degree in art history and will offer advice and knowledge about the artwork offering help with selection, sourcing and hanging of pieces. The gallery presents a range of affordable, unique hand-crafted artworks including paintings, prints, ceramics, glassware, and designer crafted, jewellery, textiles and items made of wood.

Most recently Wrapped By Sarah has expanded its reach by now producing luxury home accessories using Africa fabrics. It’s aim is to change how traditional African prints are perceived and show that they too can hold space beautiful spaces. Our core ethos is wanting women to live their best lives, to live fiercely, boldly and to be their unapologetic self. Alongside creating spaces that reflect the community and evoke joy. We all love feeling good and know what when we do this feeling flows into all aspects of our lives which will positively impact our communities.

Langport

For Every Cloud was established by Donna Vale in 2013, a creative venue based in Langport, a small town in the heart of the Somerset levels. Having graduated with a first class honors degree in art and textiles I wanted to create a space where people can learn, have fun, relax and make friends, this is really important but I also wanted an environment where visitors wouldn’t feel overwhelmed. My business mission statement ‘where friendship and creativity meet’ sums up the ethos of what we do at For Every Cloud. A shop and gallery stocking local art and craft features alongside my own. Workshops are held in the gallery space and studio, which is also used to teach screen printing. Both spaces can be hired by tutors and artists alike utilising their skills to teach popular classes such as needle felting. The workshop list is varied and attracts people from as far as London, France and Denmark who come with friends and family to stay in this beautiful part of the country, booking days to make and take… and of course have tea and cake. From experimental textiles to bookbinding, etching with Perspex to calligraphy, there is something here for everyone. I work alongside local B&B’s and cafes to provide an all round experience, offering bespoke events for hen parties, corporate functions and children’s birthdays and more recently, a summer school for adults. As well as workshops I create bespoke calligraphy and stationery for weddings, sublimation printing for personalised gifts. A signmaking service is also available for all your business and personal needs. Whether you need a new shop front or graphics for your vehicle, we are happy to help with the design and installation.

Thornton

South Square is a collection of 19th Century workers cottages, in the old Yorkshire village of Thornton, famous for its Brontë connections and its impressive 20-arch viaduct. Renovated as a community arts centre in 1982, South Square Centre is now home to ten studio spaces for a variety of artists, as well as a gallery, community spaces, archive, fine art framers, bar and a cafe. The centre hosts community events and activities for all ages, including an ongoing workshop programme and provides community spaces available to hire.
