Over 2,000 members of City’s community took part in the innovative stakeholder engagement programme, sharing over 13,500 ideas and contributions through a series of in-person and online staff sessions, focus groups, workshops, a student engagement day and the interactive and anonymous online platform, the Big City Conversation. These were compiled to produce the draft vision and strategy outline which was approved by City’s Council in Spring 2022.

I’m Amy – mummy, wife, founder of Born to Bee Happy and early years expert. Ever since I can remember I’ve been early years mad! Being a teacher I am passionate about education. I just love learning! I truly believe in lifelong learning and I am always looking to develop myself – every day is a learning day. Even as adults I think we have so much to learn, no matter what age. I really enjoy furthering my own knowledge, even when it comes to studying and completing a Masters in Early Years. I also think we have a lot to learn from children, just watching them, learning about the way they develop, and how they play in the present moment is fascinating - I love seeing the theory in action! I’ve been working in education and early years for the last 15 years, teaching all ages from babies to adults in a variety of roles. Most recently I have been supporting and training professionals working in the early years sector, to improve standards and outcomes for all children. I believe that the early years are the most crucial time of anyone’s life as this is when all of the foundations are laid. This is why as an early years inspector, I'm passionate about ensuring early years provision is of the highest standard.

We are a group of teachers, musicians and technologists who specialise in composition, improvisation and performance using iPads. Ben Sellers and Travis Snyder began running music workshops with iPads in a Hackney community centre in 2011, developing an approach that combined outstanding musical outcomes with implicit development of musicianship and theory. They transferred this approach to both formal mainstream and SEND/ALN contexts, codifying their methods into what became the 2014 textbook ‘Teaching Music with Garageband for iPad’, and a popular teacher training scheme. In 2016, Travis returned to California to become the head of Assistive Technology for the San Francisco District School Board. 2017 saw the publication of several new resources, including a second edition of the Garageband textbook and an increased focus on training partnerships with Music Education Hubs. Since 2018 we have gained an increasingly strong reputation as SEND/ALN specialists, working with MEHs up and down the country to improve provision through co-delivery and bespoke training and resources, including a complete ‘SEN/D Curriculum’ with Leicester-Shire Music Service, and a set of projects for the Charanga education platform. We were nominated twice in the 2019 ‘Music Teacher Awards for Excellence’. Though our reputation has grown, we remain a small and focussed team, working hard to develop in young people the skill, desire and drive to use music to enhance their lives.

Kathy King is a Science and Psychology specialist who has worked with a variety of vulnerable groups including young people with special educational needs, including social, emotional and behavioural problems, and the homeless. She is passionate about showing others the power of being active in nature and using outdoor activities as a tool to improve wellbeing. Her research has proven that participation in a 6-week Forest School programme can increase attendance and reduce exclusion rates from mainstream school. Applying the fundamentals of the holistic Forest School approach in all that she does, Kathy believes this can create positive changes in behaviour. Kathy made a life-changing decision to leave teaching and enrol on an outdoor instructor programme after experiencing high levels of work-related stress and anxiety. The 2-day a week course provided an opportunity to master new skills and focus on what she considered to be most important in life. It was on the water that the idea for the Wild Camp Training Programme was born. This is a project aimed at young women who are currently out of education, employment and/or training (N.E.E.T) and is designed to empower and increase physical and mental health. Since then, the charity has evolved to deliver after school clubs, forest school sessions, holiday clubs, 1-1 outdoor activity sessions and group days out.

Our teaching faculty is comprised of experienced traders and educators who have a huge amount of experience not only working behind the dealing desk but most importantly profitably trading capital over many years. Having worked in the industry and seen tens of thousands of retail traders speculate on the financial markets, all too often people make mistakes and lose their capital. Even when trader gets a trade “right” and the market moves in the direction that was anticipated, unfortunately the trade can get wiped out in the process. All too often this is due to a poor understanding of leverage and risk management. Trading can be very rewarding but without sound fundamental underpinning and tried and tested methodologies, the trader is at a statistical disadvantage and is likely to lose. This is compounded when individuals try and chase their losses or use untested methodologies which will ultimately lead to capital loss. The Mercury Internet School of Psychological Astrology (MISPA) is devoted to teaching psychological astrology. The aim of MISPA is to provide a high standard of tuition in psychological astrology so that the astrological chart can be sensitively interpreted using modern psychological thought. Our tutors have worked as practicing astrologers, teachers and consultants for many years. Many of the tutors were trained or worked for many years with the Centre for Psychological Astrology (CPA) under Director Liz Greene. Since the CPA decided it no longer wanted to offer any assessment, grade system, or qualification John Green set up MISPA to provide an astrological education to Diploma level for those who do wish to pursue a qualification and to teach psychological astrology to students all over the world. We are very happy to have Liz Greene’s continued support in this school and what we do. You can read Liz Greene's introduction to the school here. MISPA offers online classes, webinars and courses deigned to allow students to discover the power of astrology in their lives and use it as a tool for understanding themselves and their clients better. I’m the eldest of three girls, and as we were growing up, our mum made wedding dresses, upholstered furniture and created most of our clothes on her sewing machine. So I think it was inevitable that one of us would grow up with a creative streak. I’ve always enjoyed making things, not all of my ventures have been successful, but since moving into our current house and being somewhat uninspired by the range of beige lampshades on offer on the high street, I decided to learn how to make my own. Since that day I’ve become addicted. I feel lucky to have found a way to combine my love of beautiful fabrics with interiors – and spread the lampshade love to homes across Yorkshire and beyond. It’s something I take great pride in. I’m passionate about helping clients find that perfect fabric to match their new scheme and make them something unique – something they couldn’t find on the High Street. I also love teaching people how to make their own, on my lampshade making workshops – the smile as their lampshade starts to take shape is priceless.
