The School of Education has a long history of both teacher education and adult education that stretches back over 100 years. We are located on the award-winning Jubilee Campus and enjoy strong partnerships with many schools and other organisations locally, nationally and internationally. As well as training 300 new teachers each year in the UK, we run an innovative PGCEi course in over 15 countries. In the latest Research Excellence Framework, the vast majority of our outputs were assessed as internationally excellent, with over half given the highest possible score of 4*. We have a longstanding relationship with UNESCO, several large-scale European projects, and strong connections to US funders, including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Much of the school's research portfolio is aimed at having a real impact upon learners, organisations and educational systems. As part of our commitment to research excellence, the school has a thriving doctoral research community of students from around the world. The school has a broad programme of postgraduate taught courses, largely focused on professional learning. One distinctive strand of our postgraduate programme is professional counselling education which emphasises humanistic and person-centred approaches. The school is also home to the Centre for English Language Education (CELE), which offers innovative presessional academic English courses to enable applicants to reach the required level of academic English to start their degree course. CELE also offers academic language and communication skills courses and consultations to students whilst studying their degree. Our staff are experts in their fields and members of the school's staff have been awarded student nominated Lord Dearing awards for the quality of their teaching. Founded in 2018, Multiply Music Group is a privately owned business with headquarters in Buckinghamshire. Liza is a native German speaker from Düsseldorf. After studying linguistics and engineering she travelled with Cirque du Soleil where her passion for coaching, teaching and multilingualism was born. She came to Scotland in 2011 after working in a variety of countries exploring, learning and using different languages. It is for this reason she understands and empathizes with the challenges of learning a new language. She now lives in Edinburgh with her partner and two children who they have raised to be bilingual. Liza has been working as a teacher for over 10 years, teaching in a variety of settings from group classes and business classes through to private on to one tuition covering both adults and bilingual children. She has gained the experience needed to create a relaxed, fun but effective teaching method that enables students to become fluent in a short time. She understands that learning a language is personal and everyone learns differently. She likes to tailor lessons to suit the particular needs of each student. Liza also offers coaching sessions for multilingual families and works closely with parents and caregivers helping them to find strategies to make their own personal bilingual or multilingual journey successful, irrespective of the chosen language(s).

I am a photographer and educator based in Hampshire, on the south coast of the United Kingdom with some 30 years experience combining photographic assignments with lecturing in Media and the Visual Arts. In addition to undertaking a range of professional photographic assignments for corporate and individual clients, I have been engaged by a number of colleges, education centres and other learning establishments in both the public and private sectors, working primarily with post 16 and adult learners. I have accumulated an extensive knowledge of photographic techniques and technologies along with additional specialist skills in new media such as video/moving image production, desk top publishing, graphics and design for the web. As a photographer I believe it is extremely important to sustain personal development, to continually extend my knowledge and refine my skills. I have always maintained a commitment to independent creative practice through self directed projects, a number of which have been exhibited in galleries across the UK. As a fully qualified teacher I am highly motivated to share my knowledge and enthusiasm for the visual arts and I fully subscribe to the ethos of lifelong learning.”
