Equip Training became a limited company in 2016 under the name of Equip Training Associates Ltd. The founders, Dennis Hylton and Steve Garrod, first met when Dennis, then working as an external verifier, made a routine visit to a training establishment where Steve was head of driver-training. That was the start of a successful five year working relationship. They eventually realised that between them they had a combined 30 years of teaching and assessing experience in vocational training, so the logical step was to set up their own training company. Initially, the company was set up in Steve’s name, Steve Garrod Training Ltd, in 2012 as Steve’s name was well-known within the driver-training industry, but with Dennis’ expertise and infectious enthusiasm for teaching, referrals and enquiries came in from prospective customers from outside the industry, so the decision was made to change the company’s name as it was no longer ‘all about Steve!’ Equip Training provided Dennis and Steve with the perfect vehicle to offer clients from all walks of life the support and guidance they need to successfully achieve nationally recognised teaching and assessing qualifications.

Hi! I'm Adrian and the founder of Teachappy. I've been teaching happiness and wellbeing to primary school children and teachers since 2010. My passion for children and teachers' mental health and wellbeing comes from my own experience of suffering poor mental health after I had graduated. I learned that there is nothing more important than your emotional wellbeing. On my road to getting better, I also discovered the 'science of happiness', based on thousands of empirical studies, showing us simple evidence-based things we can do to look after our physical and mental health. In 2017, I set up Teachappy to share that knowledge with others, so we can all lead healthier, happier lives in and outside of school.

Brian is the Founder of In2Change since 2006. Working in Category B/local prisons, Brian realised the “missing link” to the rehabilitation of prisoners and their families. Working alongside prisoners together, they designed and created programmes that targeted disadvantaged families, ex-offenders and young people through education and crime awareness. The creation of In2Change, in which Brian played an integral part, was to utilise the untapped knowledge and aspirations of offenders who had made a poor judgement and find alternative solutions to give something back by making a positive contribution to society.

Landmarks started to offer day services and post-16 education in March 1995, where the curriculum was largely practical and land-based, working in farm buildings in Creswell, Derbyshire. Since that time Landmarks has grown and developed its educational offer so that by the time of writing this welcome, Landmarks supports over 150 post-16 and day service Learners, all of whom learn a variety of essential life skills from our five sites located across the East Midlands and South Yorkshire. We have changed our curriculum from purely land and animal-based to include several vocational subjects such as; hospitality, catering, cookery, retail, administration and labouring. These additional subjects support our learners to make informed choices about the type of vocations they would like to follow. College life at Landmarks involves being taught in practical, real-life situations, whilst being supported by highly trained and experienced staff who are experts in working with learners with additional needs. It is important for me, as it is for my team, that whilst learners are with us, they focus on developing knowledge, skills and behaviour that makes a real difference to their lives. I hope from reading the case studies and outcomes featured within this website, you can see what difference that focus has made to our learners’ lives. I am extremely proud of all our learners’ achievements, either becoming more independent so that they can attend activities they enjoy or securing employment for the first time in their lives. Indeed, we are so keen to support our learners that when you leave Landmarks, should you need support to maintain employment or seek advice you can contact our dedicated ‘After College, Aftercare’ team. I do trust that you will enjoy exploring our website and getting to know us a little better. Of course, it is only by visiting Landmarks that you will truly get a feel for the place.
