Poppy Gonzalez is a highly experienced piano teacher based in Brighton, East Sussex who receives outstanding results with her students. Studying piano from the age of five at the renowned Childs Pianoforte School, Poppy furthered her studies attending the Purcell School of Music Watford and the Royal Academy of Music, London. Poppy specialises in teaching and inspiring children from as young as four years old in a fun and very easy way to understand. Younger beginners can enjoy making music very quickly with the aid of colours and stickers helpful for children who do not yet know their ABC, (this is just a teaching aid and not a colour 'method').  Having previously taught at the Childs school where she was trained, her own school in Buckinghamshire and in nore recent years, a summer school in Marbella; Poppy's reputation as a dedicated, passionate teacher of quality has grown over the past 18 years in the Brighton & Hove area. Pupils can play for fun or make progress to the Royal Schools of Music exams, school music scholarships and diplomas; always receiving the most excellent results. Lessons are also available for those who have 'tried and given up years ago' - it is never too late to learn! "Poppy Gonzalez is an exceptional and talented piano teacher, with a dynamic character and a warm personality. She encourages her students to have fun and stimulates excellence in their piano playing".  Valerie Childs - (Childs Pianoforte School)

The Thomas Aveling School is a very successful non-selective mixed school; we are a happy school, a school for all abilities and a school for the local community of Rochester. We create a culture of high expectations and success for all students and staff. This is grounded in a supportive ethos where each student is treated as an individual, with their needs and ambitions supported by a great pastoral and children’s team. A student’s well-being is of equal importance to their academic progress, the support we offer is outstanding. As well as supporting students of all abilities to make fantastic academic progress, Thomas Aveling provides an excellent all round education valuing Music, Drama, Sport and the Arts highly with exceptional facilities – we regard these subjects as providing the soul of the school and give students additional opportunities to excel. The standard of teaching at the school ensures strong progress is seen in the core subjects of English, Maths and Science without affecting the time given to creative and practical subjects - students enjoy the full breadth of experiences. As a previously designated Training School, we take staff development very seriously. We are a leading and founding member of Kent and Medway Teacher Training. We lead the Medway Valley Partnership of training schools, and over 15 teachers are trained every year at Thomas Aveling, many of whom are then employed within Thomas Aveling or the wider Trust. Everything we do as a school is grounded in our 5 Student Virtues – the characteristics we want to develop in all our students – Ambition, Resilience, Respect, Pride and Creativity. Students are given a massive range of opportunities in and out of the classroom to develop these virtues. Our website can only ever give you a flavour of what Thomas Aveling has to offer, please do come, and visit us at one of our Open Events to meet our fantastic students and amazing and dedicated staff.

Sittingbourne yoga

sittingbourne yoga

I started going to yoga classes when I was just 16, tagging along with my Mum who had been going for years to her favourite teacher Sam. Yoga stayed with me throughout my adolescence, and I always found a class wherever I was, whether at University, on holiday or when I moved away from home. When I settled in Kent, I found an amazing teacher, Rebecca Papa-Adams, who was teaching at my local gym, and I was hooked, I went to yoga several times a week, practiced at home and started becoming interested in the non physical side of yoga. Rebecca convinced me to start my teacher training, even though my immediate plans included marriage and babies. I began my 500 hour teacher training with the British Wheel of Yoga in 2015, shortly after I got married, and unbeknown to me I was already pregnant on the first day of teacher training. I studied for 2.5 years with the British Wheel of Yoga and formed an amazing circle of mentors, teachers and friends throughout that time. I ended up studying and teaching throughout both my pregnancies, which added a whole other dimension to my journey. Seeing the amazing physical and mental effects of yoga whilst being pregnant encouraged me to begin pregnancy teacher training in 2019 soon after my second baby was born; he even joined me on my teacher training days. Yoga provides a lot of different things for different people, but for me it has been present for most of my adult life keeping me grounded, physically mobile and calm. It's opened my mind to other areas of health that I would have never explored otherwise. It's not about being the most flexible or being able to meditate for hours on end, but having strategies and coping mechanisms to live a happy and vibrant life. The classes I teach all include an element of strength, so that when you do stretch, its safe and controlled. I'd love for you to join me at one of my classes, whatever stage you are at.
