Step & Praise Company has been built upon Christian beliefs and the desire to use the gift of performing arts as an encouragement and inspiration to others. Our aim is to promote a standard of excellence in dance training and performance for children, youth and adults whilst maintaining a positive and uplifting environment. We desire to see children of all ages participate in the performing arts without having to be exposed to inappropriate themes or language. We hold different styles of performing art classes throughout the year, with dance being the main area of our services. Located in Stratford Atherton Leisure Centre, Step & Praise have formed termly dance classes suitable for children between the ages of 3 – 11 years old. Separated into three age abilities; Tots, Beginners and Intermediates, these classes have been designed to help our students receive an in depth understanding about Street Dance, Hip Hop Dance, Afrobeat, Ballet and Contemporary Dance. Students training with us will get the opportunity to explore dance in a safe environment in addition to having opportunities to perform in theatres across London.

Gemini was founded in 2008 by Jodie McRae, working together with her sister Lucy to provide dance classes for the community. We aim to bring each student to a professional dance level as well as enhancing their confidence and wellbeing. Each student is valued for their individuality and encouraged to reach their full potential in a creative and friendly environment. Since opening, Gemini has successfully recruited more than 200+ students with the intention of encouraging more students to take up after school activities. The name Gemini represents Jodie’s Star Sign and is symbolised by twins. Sisters Jodie and Lucy known to family and friends as “The Twins”, are the principals of Gemini School of Dance. Gemini offers professional tuition in a vast range of dance styles and disciplines, across all levels of experience for both Boys & Girls. Our dance styles include; Street Dance, Boys Hip Hop, Baby & Toddler, Pre-school, Commercial, Lyrical, Jazz, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Singing, Cheer Dance, Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Gymnastics, AcroDance and Adult classes. Additionally, Gemini is available to provide entertaining lessons at parties and provides a range of themed classes. Diamond Dance was established by Sian Pargetor in 2010 and started with a few basic lessons on a Saturday, to include a baby class, Tap, Ballet and Modern examination work. It wasn’t long before the timetable grew and additional classes were added. It began with the addition of an Acrobatics class, quickly followed by Street dance, private lessons and Festival class and in more recent years the addition of Contemporary and Musical Theatre. The first ever Diamond Dance show was held at the Community Centre back in 2011 with a small showcase. In 2013 Dance Infinity was established and is now a bi-annual show put on by all the pupils at the school. With the schools growth in 2013 and 2015 the shows were performed at Blue Coat Theatre and new from 2017 Dance Infinity moved to the Albany Theatre. Diamond Dance is involved in many Community events and has been seen at the Coventry Blaze Ice Hockey, Godiva Festival, local fetes, Supermarket events, and Chaplin’s Princess Ball to name a few. Sian is keen to take part in these events as it gives the pupils extra performance opportunities. Please get in touch if you would like us to perform at your event. Pupils can expect to be given incredible workshop opportunities whilst attending Diamond Dance both at the Studios and outside events. A favourite is the bi-annual trip to Butlin’s Skegness where Diamond Dance take part in the British Theatre Dance Association Gala weekend. However, it’s not all about the dancing. Sian made friends for life when she was a dancer at the Sylvia Bird Dance School and hopes that the pupils of Diamond Dance will make these same lifelong friendships. Therefore, you will often see us on trips to the theatre or the parents on a night out. It all adds to the friendly atmosphere that is part of the school. For many years the school was based at its local Community Centre and hired the space per session. However, in August 2017 Diamond Dance moved to its new premises and their own Dance Studios. Diamond Studios consists of three studio spaces, a parents waiting area and even hosts a “chill out room” for its pupils. The space is available to hire and you should contact the studios if you are interested in this.

Marina started the Marina School of Dance in Whitchurch in October 2009 after graduating from the Royal Academy of Dance. The school started with just Ballet and quickly added ISTD Tap and Modern classes into the timetable. We currently have a massive range of classes including Acrobatic Arts, Street Dance, Contemporary, Musical Theatre and most recently Latin. Our team of teachers is constantly growing and all our teachers are encouraged to continually update their knowledge and training in order to give our students the best quality lessons. Marina and the team are members of many teaching organisations in order make sure that all lessons are the most current and up to date syllabus, this also means we can enter students for exams if they wish. Marina School of Dance follows the Royal Academy of Dance Ballet Syllabus, the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing Tap, Modern and Contemporary Syllabus and The Acrobatic Arts syllabus. After searching for a ‘home’ for many years we moved into our new studio in Overton in September 2020, whilst still continuing with our Whitchurch classes to be able to provide lots of options for local families. The new studio means we can offer a huge variety of classes and really make the most of the beautiful facilities. With shows, exams and performances every year there is always something exciting to look forward to. New pupils are always welcome, with or without any experience. We pride ourselves on including and providing opportunities for every single child. All children are encouraged to do their best and to work hard, whilst still having an amazing time and making lots of friends. Becky Hi, I’m Becky, the Principal here at The Dance Zone. I began dancing at the age of 4, learning Freestyle, Ballroom and Latin American. At the age of 14 I became a Student Teacher and fell in love with teaching. I enjoy studying the theory side of dance and went on to take the Associate Teacher qualification in both Ballroom and Latin American with the IDTA; and Ballroom with the ISTD. I now have the pleasure of passing this knowledge on to any of our student teachers who wish to train to become qualified dance teachers and fulfil their own dance dreams. Quite some time ago, I discovered a love of authentic Street dance and still enjoy attending classes in this discipline. Over the years I have achieved qualifications to teach Zumba, Zumba Toning and Mash It Up Fitness, all great and fun exercise programs. I have had the pleasure of partnering students at competitions in the Blackpool Tower Ballroom, something I will never forget. I do not have a favourite style, I just love to dance; even my holiday every year is at a dance convention! Yes, dance is my passion, but it’s more than that, it’s who I am. Amy Amy Hi, I’m Amy, and I’ve been dancing at The Dance Zone since it opened in 2011 but have been dancing for 13 years. I have been a student teacher since 2017, I also take lessons in Tap dancing elsewhere. I have loved growing up and spending time with the other amazing student teachers and getting to know all the kids. Going to dance just provides me with a good opportunity to have fun and learn something new at the same time. Beth Beth Hi, I’m Beth, and I have been dancing since I was 3 years old. I started off doing ballet then moved to The Dance Zone at the age of 6. Dance was always something that I have loved so it’s amazing I have been able to continue dancing my whole life. I competed in several competition as part of a Street dance crew. I have taught dance since I was 12, I love being able to share my passion with the kids and being able to teach and dance with them. It’s rewarding to see the kids perform knowing that you helped to lead and encourage them. My favourite style of dance is street as it’s fun and allows for you to add your own style to routines. I have grown up with The Dance Zone and had the opportunity to be taught by and dance with amazing people and have amazing memories.

Established by Jenna Walker in 2013, after a number of years teaching in the North Berwick area, Freedom and Form Dance Training provides an opportunity for students to develop their dance technique, build confidence and make friends in a fun, friendly, caring and safe environment. Based at our own premises at The Lighthouse North Berwick, our qualified teaching staff offer a wide range of dance styles for both children and adults of all ages. We believe dance should be fun and some of the disciplines we teach include: Ballet via the prestigious Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus. Modern and Tap by Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD) syllabus. Acro Dance following the Acrobatic Arts programme. Street Dance, Musical Theatre and much more. Over the years our students have taken exams to a very high level and we proudly hold a 100% pass rate. The Rose Arts London was always a childhood dream of mine and it was manifested through a pain in my life, with the loss of my Grandad; Charles Alexander Gardner. He, alongside my Mother and Nan, supported me with my dance and drama training, performance career and attended all classes, auditions and performances. When he passed away, it pushed me to embrace my artistry and passions. The Rose represents three things: A dedication to my Grandad; His favourite flower A name influence; My middle name Rosetta and my mother Rosemarie The flourish of each child who trains with us. As a seed they begin but as ‘The Rose’ they grow. Experience My training began at Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts and have been training in every discipline, since the age of 3 and teaching dance and drama since the age of 14. Ballet, Tap, Modern, Contemporary, Lyrical, Liturgical, Street Dance, Jazz, Commercial and Musical Theatre. Further to this, I attended college studied Performing Arts, obtaining distinctions in the art form, allowing me to receive an unconditional offer to University, where I obtained my degree in Dance Practice and Performance. As an ex-English teacher in a busy secondary school and a current Guide Leader, Gemma can bring those skills into her dance and drama lessons to make them fun but purposeful. Gemma currently teaches Street, Freestyle, Musical Theatre / Drama and Ballroom / Latin classes with the support of other teachers and dance coaches. Gemma is continuing to develop her own personal portfolio whilst supporting other students and trainee teachers along their own dance pathways. Current qualifications include: Fellow with the IDTA with qualifications in Freestyle, Latin, Ballroom, Rock 'n' Roll and Musical Theatre; ABD Acrobatic Dance, IDTA Anatomy and Physiology Diploma. Emily Harris, Teacher Emily (BA Hons) joined our team in 2017 and is packed with enthusiasm. Whilst her speciality is Ballroom and Latin, she is also qualified in Freestyle and happy to help in all genres. Emily has been dancing from the tender age of 3 with experience in ballet and tap as well as the above mentioned styles and is keen to share her knowledge and enthusiasm with other dancers. Her degree in education and special needs is just another asset she brings to our academy, further enhancing our inclusivity policy. DBS checked annually and First Aid trained. Jordanne Wood, Teacher Jordanne has been dancing since she was 2 years old with experience in all theatre subjects including ballet, tap, theatre craft, modern jazz, acro gymnastics and cheerleading. She attended the Pattisons College of Performing Arts in Coventry. She soon went on to complete her IDTA professional qualifications and then went into teaching full time. She also has a young child of her own bringing her maternal instincts into class. Like many of our teachers, Jordanne is continuing to work through more IDTA dance qualifications whilst she is teaching with the aim of eventually becoming an IDTA examiner. Jordanne's current qualifications include associate with the IDTA in Freestyle, Ballet, Tap and Modern Jazz; BGU level 4 in Cheerleading. DBS checked and First Aid trained. Liam Pincher, Teacher Liam began his dance journey as a contemporary dancer, but slowly moved to street dance styles the more he learned about them.This took him to study an urban dance course in London, and even to study Urban Dance in America! Over the years, he has gained experience in a variety of street dance styles including hip hop, House, popping, locking, and breaking all whilst experiencing battle culture, performance opportunities and teaching. He's always very excited to have the opportunity to share everything he's learned with fellow dancers and has already made a positive impact on many of our students. DBS checked and First Aid trained. Emily Hunt, Teacher Emily started dancing at the age of three in Ballet, Tap and Jazz, gaining medals and performing in regular shows with her sister. Progressing through medals and competitions, Emily became a finalist in the 'British Amateur Junior Modern Sequence' at the age 14. Leaving the competition world behind she began studies for her Pre-Associate exam in 2010 where she won the 'Bill Tasker Award' before proceeding on to her Associate exams where she was nominated for the 'John Dilworth Award'. Emily has a 2:1 Ba Hons degree in 'Professional Dance Teaching' from Buckinghamshire New University as well as her IDTA professional awards. Her specialism is Classical Sequence but she is also an experienced Ballroom, Latin and Freestyle teacher. DBS checked and First Aid trained. Dance Coaches We are really lucky to have a group of amazing volunteers who assist with our classes. Aged only 12-18, these girls have a fabulous rapport with our other students and can be essential in making new members feel welcome and helping less experienced dancers with steps. They all undergo First Aid Training and have DBS checks at the appropriate age.
