Some of the people behind Neosome: Jo-Anne Tait – CEO and Co-Founder Jo co-founded neoSome in 2019 with her friend Colin Hetherington which started with the virtual oil rig. She has a varied background as a singer-songwriter, geologist and engineering educator. She has developed virtual worlds for education, and is passionate about using immersive technologies for learning and accessibility. Strong history and skills in Marketing, PR, Communications, Graphic Design and IT. Owner and editor of Ethical Marketing News, the number one Ethical Marketing Resource on the web. Colin Hetherington – Co Founder Colin developed our multi-user virtual oil rig in 2010/11, and developed a number of processes relating to OpenSim software. The rig model has been used to test immersive tech software due to its complexity. Colin has a background in art, photography and elearning technology. Colin died in 2021 but he still remains an integral part of neoSome.

Once upon a time there was a small group of Business Analysts and they had a simple yet great idea: A Business Analysis conference for BAs, created and hosted by BAs ...and so BA Life was born. What follows is our story and the thinking behind BA Life and its creation... BA Life | What's in a name? BA Life is an acronym which describes both the idea and the people involved in its inception; its full title is 'Business Analysis Learning & Innovation Festival Edinburgh'. The 'Business Analysis' part is easy, all involved are Business Analysts with many years of experience. The 'Edinburgh' ending is because that is our home - and when the COVID craziness finally subsides, that wonderful city will be where the live 'in person' conference will take place. We then have the middle part... BA Life | Passionate champions for the growth of Business Analysis and BAs Like all great disciplines, Business Analysis has grown and developed and in turn has gained a highly regarded reputation in the IT world for the incredible positive impact Business Analysts have on a project and business as a whole (yes, we know some folk have still yet to catch up on this fact, but they'll get there!) Helping small and start-up businessesOur Founder Nikki started her business at the age of 23, in her final year of university. She hit upon an unmet demand for clothing and lingerie to fit bigger busted girls. She had no prior textile or business experience, but knew there was a market for the product. With almost no cash, she set out to launch her start-up business but hit multiple challenges along the way – not understanding how to promote her business online, how to generate sales, run online ads or manage her own SEO, and no budget to pay someone for help, she had no choice but to figure it out through a matrix of failed experiments, free online information and training workshops where they were affordable (and not many were!) Eventually, one sale became two, and two became ten, and within a couple of years the business took off – by 2010 Nikki had been awarded the Natwest Everywoman Artemis Business Award and in 2011 appeared on Dragons Den, securing private investment of £250,000 after the show had aired. This enabled her to scale her brand, re-shore production to the UK and eventually culminated in running a factory in Preston with over a dozen machinists, and supplying her brand to the high street. But her frustration remained around the lack of practical help and support for startup business owners. Training courses seldom left her with any usable information to implement – they would talk about the benefits of Facebook marketing, or SEO, or Social Media but never gave enough information to actually go and do it yourself.

A few words about us at Cyber Benab. We are an online meeting place which aims to increase awareness of cybersecurity through online events, such as weekend bootcamps and intensive training courses. About us Our mission at Cyber Benab is to develop a community of cybersecurity aware enthusiasts and experts with the knowledge to defend critical data and infrastructure for individuals, businesses and government. Dr. Fraser, our Operations Director has developed cybersecurity and computer systems administration training courses for both private sector organisations, such as the Flatiron School in New York, and outreach courses for disadvantaged groups, including retraining for programmes for immigrant engineers at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. More recently, he has contributed to cybersecurity workshops as part of Vaugh’s College CSTEP programme which aims to increase access by minority and economically disadvantaged students to academic programs at the college level in scientific and technical fields. Cyber Benab is one of 108 UK security startup companies nominated to take part in the 2021 Cyber Runway accelerator programme which is sponsored by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). During 2022, Cyber Benab in collaboration with the Digital Policy Alliance and local outreach groups will play a leading role in delivery cybersecurity training to disadvantage groups in the UK starting with the London Borough of Lambeth. In recent years, digitisation has exploded in every aspect of the global economy. This development has increased our reliance on mobile devices to interact with friends and family, work, shopping, news, lifestyle, social media, banking and finance.
