The school has been fortunate to have had a rebuild under the Building Schools for the Future that was opened fully in September 2013. The new building provides an inspiring and modern learning environment for the students and the teachers to focus on learning. Sun Bear Yoga has a key focus on making yoga fun and accessible to all. In this funny old time we believe it's super important to take extra care of our kids and their families' emotional and physical health. Sun Bear Yoga combines yoga, play, fun, dance, drama, music, acro, storytelling, relaxation and mindfulness to nurture positive wellbeing and encourage community support and socialisation (team work- yay). Why is yoga good for kids? It improves concentration and co-ordination, develops body awareness, calms the racing mind and boosts self-esteem and inner confidence. Our mission is to create a space for some much needed time out, fun without distraction, giggles and to provide the opportunity for an emotional reset. We want to give kids and their families the tools to cope better with the daily stressors that come with modern family life. We believe in equality, inclusivity, tolerance, compassion and respect and these values form the foundations of our classes. All of our classes are completely secular and there will be no focus on religion. EVERYONE is welcome. We believe in spreading love and happiness to all. Kindness is our superpower! We offer classes for children 0-16y during term time and we run family yoga events out of term time. Right now our classes go up to 12y but as of September they will be available for 13-16y and we will also have dedicated classes for children with certain additional needs in Autumn 2021.

Hello there, my name is Alex Koster and I am so happy you have found my website. I am a mindfulness, nature pedagogy and ecotherapy practitioner with a passion for all things Health and Nature – I believe both are intrinsically related. This passion extends out to a strong commitment to respect, protect and lovingly connect to our environment and Mother Nature, as we can’t have healthy humans on a sick planet. My professional background is in education/nature pedagogy, mindfulness, ecotherapy and holistic health modalities (see full details below). I am also the author of the multi-award-winning book “Roots and Wings – Childhood needs a Revolution”, a handbook for parents and educators to promote positive change based on the principles of mindfulness. Apart from my professional interests, I am the mum of two beautiful daughters, and like any parent, I want my children and future generations to grow up healthily and have a future on our beautiful Earth. There is no doubt we are living in challenging times and we are all affected by global changes in some way or another. The terms eco- and climate anxiety are becoming a firm part of our vocabulary and we need to rethink our approaches to education and healthcare. The RYA Competent Crew course is aimed at beginners to the world of sailing, with little or no experience, who want to become active crew members rather than just passengers. After the course, you will be able to steer a yacht, handle sails, keep a lookout, row a dinghy and assist in the day-to-day routines of sailing a yacht as well as rope handling and general duties. No age limit. 5 Day Sailing Course - £695 RYA Instructor/Student Ratio max 1:5. To take this course, you must have completed at least 5 days, 100 miles and 4 night hours on board a sailing yacht, and must be 16 or older. 5 Day Sailing Course - £695 RYA Instructor/Student Ratio max 1:5. Or if completing the Yachtmaster Offshore prep you will arrange with the school to book a RYA Examiner to take the 8/10 hour practical exam soon afterwards. To take this course(Coastal) you will have completed at least 15 days, 300 miles, 8 night hours and 2 days as skipper on board a sailing yacht, and must be 17 for Coastal and 18 for Yachtmaster Offshore for which you will need 2500 miles and three skippered passages over 60 miles plus 50 night hours. 5 Day Sailing Course - £695 RYA Instructor/Student Ratio max 1:5. This course is a requirement for anyone who owns a fixed or handheld marine VHF radio. The Short Range Certificate (SRC) is the minimum qualification required by law to control the operation of VHF and VHF Digital Selective Calling (DSC) equipment on any British flagged vessel voluntarily fitted with a radio. Blantyre Soccer Academy is a registered charity SC 043613 whose objectives are to advance public participation in amateur sport of football by promoting the game of football through the provision of recreational facilities and activities. To improve the fitness and health of the persons for whom the facilities/activities are primarily intended and to provide a safe environment to encourage and promote the development of football, health, self-esteem and friendship within the community of Blantyre and its environs. This is achieved with age groups of children from 3 years to 19 years of age also an adult amateur team and an over 35’s team. We also are a Full Disability Club and provide a full player pathway. In our R & C, the committee of the Academy outline the genesis, rationale, objectives and future proposed development of the association and where we see ourselves progressing towards in the short, medium and long term. WE ARE A REAL COMMUNITY CLUB - "Building a Better Blantyre One Person at a Time" Blantyre Soccer Academy as a whole has, since its inception in 2010, been organised and run solely by volunteer coaches and administrative staff and exists as a non-profit making venture. As a self-funded organisation of volunteers we of course rely very much so on the goodwill of the local community we seek to serve. We aim to provide facilities and equipment and it will be available to anyone irrespective of race, colour, religion, sex, sexuality or disabilities. We aim to promote a respect for diversity and encourage people to take pride in themselves and their team mates through the game of football. As such we source sponsorship from local sympathetic businesses and other individuals who share the mission aims of our project. Like all such organisations which exist and thrive and are dependent on the goodwill of the local community, we are always seeking to source alternative mechanisms for funding so as to ensure our organisation continues to thrive and play a vital role in our local community in terms of social cohesion and integration. Blantyre Soccer Academy plays a highly significant role in providing diversionary activities, interventions and opportunities for young people in the Blantyre area, although we stress we are not limited solely too young people from Blantyre and positively welcome those from other districts to participate in all our activities. We strive to promote positive living, nutrition, discipline and exercise and in-still in our young people the advantages of a healthy lifestyle. Blantyre Soccer Academy seeks to provide our young people with positive role models and regularly invites successful sports persons to visit our young people so as to encourage them to participate in the diversionary and positive activities promoted by our club. Blantyre Soccer Academy is, in line with our attempt is currently seeking to increase our participation numbers to 500+ active young people over the next 12 months.
