Evancliffe Leathercraft have developed a wide range of unique hand crafted leather products. Evancliffe Leathercraft‘s diverse range of hand crafted leatherwork includes Belts, Bags, Purses, Leather Hand Bound Journals and much much more.  Many of the items have developed from a customer saying, “Can you…” and Evancliffe Leathercraft saying “Yes!” Evancliffe Leathercraft offer a wide range of Leatherwork Training Workshops to suite everyone. For example students can learn to make a Leather Belt, a Hand Bound Leather Journal and Bags etc.  You can also learn about Wet Moulding & Stamping and Marbelling Leather amongst other things.  As a part of the learning process the student will often come away with an additional small leather item as well. Evancliffe Leathercraft are constantly developing new workshops, so if what you want to make is not on the list, please contact them to discuss the possibilities. Evancliffe Leathercraft‘s training workshops are usually run from Evancliffe Leathercraft‘s Weardale base which has stunning views overlooking Weardale in County Durham. Wendy’s professional background in Teaching has ensured that Evancliffe Leathercraft’s workshops have been developed with learning in mind.  Each Workshops goals are achievable and they can be adapted to suite different learning styles.

We offer secluded luxury camping in one of two yurts and four beautiful log cabins. We also run a wide range of traditional woodland craft courses throughout the year. The site extends to approximately 6 acres, of which 3.5 acres is made up of ancient woodland. We are creating a Forest Garden, an innovative and highly productive way of gardening where an open woodland ecosystem is created using a mix of both common and unusual plants, trees and shrubs - most of which are edible! Forest Garden Shovelstrode is the brainchild of Lisa Aitken and Charles Hooper who both share a passion for horticulture, self sufficiency and the firm belief in the need to preserve our heritage in traditional rural crafts for future generations. The project was conceived in 2009 whilst Charles was being filmed on the Greenwood episode of BBC TV’s programme Mastercrafts and Lisa was simultaneously learning about Forest Gardening. Since opening for business in 2010, the Forest Garden has taken shape and many guests have visited to either enjoy a yurt or cabin stay, or have taken part in one of our woodland crafts courses.

ABOUT US Allegro School of Gymnastics was founded in 2015 after huge demand from parents that were taught by our Head Coach Sam in local schools. It was felt that there was a need for a local gymnastics club with one strong rule in mind – to teach children quality gymnastics skills and technique, with fun and play a close second. Our main club is now based at Newstead Woods Sports Centre but due to huge popularity and success, we now have a second, permanent location at Bromley Football Club. Our previous centres at Ravens Wood and Darrick Wood have enabled us to grow and expand, and we now provide Squad, Recreational and Pre school classes six days a week. Newstead and Bromley both house all four full-sized Olympic pieces including bars and beam and our Pre School unit provides smaller pieces alongside the full size equipment to help build confidence in out younger gymnasts. As parents ourselves with over 20 years of parenting experience and coaches that are ex high level gymnasts, we feel that we can understand and relate to our gymnasts individual needs as children in a much more supportive and positive way whilst having the technical knowledge to ensure that all skills are taught safely and progressively. We understand that most children are desperate to do a backflip and a somersault, but we teach the children to understand that the basic skills need to be learnt properly first and then when they are all put together the children are rewarded with the skills they have been so eager to perform.
