Dan was born in Cleveland Ohio and until the age of 24 grew up in rural eastern Ohio in “Amish Country”. At the age of 24, Dan took up ballet classes as part of his physical therapy for injuries sustained in a severe car accident. As a complete fluke, that led to him being accepted into a local prestigious performing arts college in the aptly named Painesville, Ohio a few years later. During his study for a BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) in fine performing arts, he danced for several small companies and had a one season premier dance gig for the Ohio Light Opera Company as well as a decent stage acting career, singing in musicals and light opera productions. That led him to an acting career which included 3 years, in residence and touring, with The Abbey Theatre in Dublin, Ireland, television and film spots and more stage acting in London. Due to a second almost identical car accident in England, Dan took up ultra-distance running, clocking up approx. 35,000 career miles while training for and carrying out events in many countries around the world to raise money for children’s charities and hunger issues. His charity vehicle for those events is responsible for raising roughly £2 million. His Karate career began as a gift to himself for his 50th birthday in 2008, as he decided to move away from ultra-distance running. Having seen and been inspired by his son at karate training at an after-school club, he decided that Karate was a physical pursuit that he strongly connected with; athletically, due to his long career in running, artistically, due to his previous involvement in ballet, and ideologically. This fresh start at a turning point in his life has now lead to him start his own dojo, and to commence teaching others, mainly children, the art of Karate-Do after 10 years of training. Despite this being a relatively short period, Dan believes that he can call on and incorporate his own experiences from previous endeavours, bringing in training ideas from the world of ultra-marathons, classical ballet and stage performance, to the way he teaches karate to those who train at his dojo. The dojo officially opened on August 8th 2018, to mark his 60th birthday. All are welcome and there are no excuses good enough for him for anyone to not take up karate as a healthful, exciting pursuit. Karate and Karate Do is for everyone. Gamabate (try your best)

Teddy's Playhouse

We are two professional mums with backgrounds in performing arts who share a passion for early learning adventure and magic. When our toddlers were still in infant-hood we spent months attending classes for babies and toddlers hoping to find one that offered live music, performance and movement with a focus on language development and social awareness. We couldn’t find anything that matched our vision, so we decided to combine our skills and develop an unrivaled concept in early learning baby and toddler classes. Performing arts, a platform for early learning! It’s been proven in countless case studies that music aids in a child’s early development, but we were looking for something more than simply music classes, we were hoping to find classes that offered a platform to develop a child’s confidence and social skills, classes that would help toddlers to shine and prepare them not just for nursery and school but for their later years. Teddy’s Playhouse was formed in December 2016 with a vision to create a magical adventure for infants and toddlers through music, song, rhyme, performance, role play, dance and movement; all of which are keyed to supporting language skill development, social awareness and confidence building. Our classes for babies and toddlers fire-up ‘little imaginations’ Our classes are structured to fire-up, nurture and aid in enhancing ‘little imaginations’. Our classes for baby and toddlers are fun, interactive and themed with live music, sensory learning objects, puppets and characters from well known and loved nursery rhymes, lead by professionally trained actors and musicians.

The Rose Arts London was always a childhood dream of mine and it was manifested through a pain in my life, with the loss of my Grandad; Charles Alexander Gardner. He, alongside my Mother and Nan, supported me with my dance and drama training, performance career and attended all classes, auditions and performances. When he passed away, it pushed me to embrace my artistry and passions. The Rose represents three things: A dedication to my Grandad; His favourite flower A name influence; My middle name Rosetta and my mother Rosemarie The flourish of each child who trains with us. As a seed they begin but as ‘The Rose’ they grow. Experience My training began at Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts and have been training in every discipline, since the age of 3 and teaching dance and drama since the age of 14. Ballet, Tap, Modern, Contemporary, Lyrical, Liturgical, Street Dance, Jazz, Commercial and Musical Theatre. Further to this, I attended college studied Performing Arts, obtaining distinctions in the art form, allowing me to receive an unconditional offer to University, where I obtained my degree in Dance Practice and Performance. I have had an extensive career in the arts, through stage, film and television and have received such amazing opportunities I am truly grateful for. About T.R.A.L. T.R.A.L. is a place for all Rose Students to discover, train, explore, create, challenge and motivate what they learn here and to ignite their passion, of why dance, drama, sport and song is such an amazing artistic outlet, which not only teaches creativity and utilises talent but also discipline. The role of the arts builds character and self-esteem and at The Rose Arts London, one of the assets that I hold as an important part, is the family friendly atmosphere. This delivers a guarantee from us, that our space is a positive and productive learning environment, where our students can grow, most importantly learn, and create in an energetic, confident building atmosphere. Myself and our teachers, who have work(ed) within the industry, aim to continually make The Rose Arts London a success, with the passion we hold and with which, our goal is to impart our experiences, knowledge and love of the arts to our students. I have been blessed to be able to open a school, attended by such passionate students, to be able to witness how they will develop in years to come. For whatever reason you decided to take a leap with us, whether it to be a creative outlet, confidence builder, opportunity to meet new people, train to become a professional or all the above – I expect all to work hard, train hard, practice, be respectful, be challenged, but most importantly enjoy every moment of the journey.
