In her 91st year Beth Chatto set up the Education Trust to develop educational opportunities through The Garden for everyone. The aim of the Trust is to inspire, educate, and to promote enjoyment and wellbeing for all through gardens and the outdoor environment. Established in 2015 Beth Chatto Education Trust has developed a varied annual programme of courses, workshops, projects and activities for adults, children and community groups. The programme consists of firm favourites that are retained each year and new courses that keep the programme current and interesting. There is something to suit everyone whether you are an experienced horticulturalist or a novice keen to try your hand at something new. We offer RHS Theory qualifications, practical gardening courses, one-day creative workshops, lectures, school visits, Forest school and children’s holiday garden activities. These can run for a morning, a day, termly or up to two years for the RHS qualifications. The Beth Chatto Education Trust aims to facilitate people to access the outdoors, enjoy learning in our gardens and connect with the environment to enhance wellbeing. Many of our courses are based in the Beth Chatto Gardens in our purpose-built education building, the 'Willow Room'. In addition to the formal gardens, we also have a separate ‘wild garden’ which we use with children and for hands-on practical learning. Courses and events can be found and booked on our website. Our work is focused on the care, resettlement and rehabilitation of individuals involved in the criminal justice system and those at risk of offending as well as the welfare of their families and dependants. We aim to provide training opportunities and key life skills to individuals, helping to find work and somewhere to live, and provide the support necessary to continue their rehabilitation. LAT’s vision is that all individuals involved in the criminal justice system should be treated with respect, empowered to achieve their full potential and given equality of opportunity. Who We Are Enable (Sheffield) is a charity based training organisation for people with disabilities. Our aim is to offer a quality care and training opportunities to meet their individual needs. Our training areas deliver themed subjects and topics relevant to suit our learner’s abilities and skills. First opening for business in 1994, with the intention to make a difference to the lives of people with disabilities in Sheffield. From the offset we have always involved our learners in the decision making process, and this is, we believe, the key to our success. Enable (Sheffield) has grown to become a well established and renown training provider for disabled adults in Sheffield, but began life in very humble beginnings. Founder Alan Finchett rented a room in a local school, for disabled adults from the area to use, initially repairing and recycling toys and bikes but gradually more activities were added to the schedules. Within a year, with more learners attending, space was getting tight so it was soon time to move to bigger premises. Skip along 8 years and demand was so great for places that work started on our purpose built building. Exactly 10 years after starting, Enable was ready to move into their new home. The centre has been designed specifically to meet the demands of disabled people, offering a bright, spacious learning place for all.

Mark’s Story Mark had huge problems at school. He had little social skills to be able to cope with learning and as a result was unfocussed and behaved aggressively. He was at real risk of exclusion. The team at The HIVE encouraged his involvement in Croydon Children’s University™. Mark has been a success story, wanting to come to the activities, wanting to learn and build up his points. Both school and his parent’s say Mark’s participation in Croydon Children’s University™ has made a huge difference to both his behaviour and the way he is now able to cope with all that life throws at him. At SlamFresh, we believe poetry can make a big difference to young people’s lives. But the need to create a nurturing and supportive environment in which to write has never been greater. Although the popularity of the art form, particularly spoken word, continues to grow on an unprecedented scale, last year, for the first time in our country’s history, poetry was nearly made an optional GCSE subject. As well as this, the recent closure of schools has meant that young people from lower economic backgrounds have been put at an even greater disadvantage than they already were. Cut off from schools, many of these young people simply have not had the space or resources to access creative opportunities, at a time when they need them more than ever. SlamFresh is a CIC based in the Newcastle upon Tyne which aims to address these problems. We run workshops that focus on the contemporary styles of spoken word and slam poetry, styles of writing which we have found can engage some of the most reluctant students. SlamFresh work in partnership with schools and community centres to mentor young people in writing, editing and performance. We have 3 company directors, Rowan McCabe, Michael MacDonald and Jeff Price. Rowan McCabe and Michael MacDonald (stage name Donald Jenkins) also serve as the two primary facilitators for the workshops, although guests may be brought in on a freelance basis where required. The directors met through their work as professional poets. Collectively, they have spent over 40 years working with children and young people.

We are very proud to maintain a 100% pass rate in all our student's instrumental and vocal music exams making us Edinburgh's favourite music school for private music lessons. One - to - one tuition Lessons are available for a range of instruments including voice, piano, guitar, violin, viola, cello, saxophone, clarinet, flute, recorder and drums. We offer one to one private lessons in our studio in Meadowbank or online lessons. Groups We offer a range of music group activities including our Baby music groups (for ages 0-5), youth singing groups, performance coaching workshops and summer school music groups. Please contact us to find out the groups that are currently available. Concerts At ESM we believe that learning to make incredible music is just not as rewarding if you don’t share it with others. We provide monthly showcases at Edinburgh's Jazz Bar in addition to end of term concerts. This gives our students plenty of opportunities to showcase their progress and develops our pupils into confident performers. Unfortunately, due to current restrictions surrounding concerts, we are unable to host any concerts at this time.
