The Family of Learning Trust is a small Trust serving Calderdale and the adjoining areas. The Trust is committed to a local approach, unlike some other large academy chains. Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful is an independent charity dedicated to creating a cleaner, greener and more sustainable Northern Ireland by delivering on improving environmental education in every school in Northern Ireland, increasing public engagement for communities in need and raising environmental standards for the places where people spend time: where they live, work and relax. Underpinning this is our survey work reporting on neighbourhood cleanliness across Northern Ireland with the Borough Cleanliness Survey, Northern Ireland Litter Survey and the Marine Litter Survey. Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful is expanding volunteering opportunities with a focus on creating a new societal norm of taking responsibility for where you live. This is delivered through campaigns including Adopt A Spot, The BIG Spring Clean and the Clean Coasts programme. Supporting volunteering is a key strand of the public-private-NGO partnership that makes up Live Here Love Here.

The Six O’Clock Club started life in January 2013 as an opportunity to bring together a group of business owners and professionals, entrepreneurs, innovators and investors, for after work drinks in London. There was no agenda and no “rules” beyond encouraging visitors to grab a drink at the bar and talk to the people around them. It’s the first step in the “know like and trust” process and assuming you’re not painfully shy (which we’re also addressing) one of the most natural things in the world, get involved in conversation and see where it takes you. Over time relationships have formed, a Facebook group started, conversations have continued and the reasons for meeting have developed. The Six O’Clock Club still presents opportunities to meet and “network” with other business owners but it’s become a great deal more purposeful. It’s become a place of learning, a place to seek and offer support, a resource for knowledge and experience and an organisation with a collective voice that represents not just it’s thousands of members and supporters but their friends and families, colleagues, clients and suppliers too. It’s become a cause, and as such it’s coming of age with an offer that’s much broader than it’s original purpose to bring people together for after work drinks. It’s become a community of business owners and professionals with a real desire for change in the world.

The success of RVAA that started over a decade ago is nothing short of remarkable. The academy started with just six members and now has over 400 and a whole load of accolades and achievements. Former dancer Toni began RVAA 12 years ago in clitheroe, operating from school halls but the organisation quickly outgrew them. We want everyone to enjoy gymnastics, its such fun very friendly and great for building social confidence. The academy started purely as artistic but Toni went on to add rhythmic gymnastics to the class timetable. As it has flourished RVAA now offers disciplines in Men, Womens, rhythmic, pre-school & general gymnastics. New to our timetable will be Parkour. The members of RVAA have the opportunities at regional & national level at various competitions throughout the year. With a current coaching staff of 12 fully qualified British Gymnastics coaches, 6 junior leaders & 4 qualified teachers.

This means that the school adheres to very strict guidelines with regards to the safety and welfare of its students and the quality of training offered by all members of staff. We take great care to make sure that dance is a fun activity for all students, helping with early years development, musicality, strength, posture and concentration. Developing skills which will benefit children throughout their lives regardless of whether they decide to dance as a profession. For any children who do show the talent and desire to pursue a career in the industry there are many opportunities to audition for a variety of additional programmes. The school cares about creating strong, technical dancers and is certified to teach the Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) programme, it is also a licensed Pirouette Surgery school. Both programmes are offered as workshops and incorporated into class work. Miss Alex has taught students who have gone on to be associates at the Royal Ballet School and Central Ballet School, attended the Royal Ballet School at White Lodge, English National Ballet School, the Brit School, Sylvia Young and Italia Conti. Students have also performed in companies such as English Youth Ballet and London Children’s Ballet.
