I started with Lynne after a received a deferred pass on my Army officer selection board: Main Board attempt, subject to a physical re-show on the obstacle course. I began a highly focused, high intensity work out focusing on core and grip strength over a 10-11 week period. At every point I found Lynne’s instruction, support and lesson program to be of the highest quality. After a number of hour long session I felt fully prepared for the obstacles both mentally and physically in a way that I had not previously, and was consequently able to put in a great showing on the obstacle course.

Giulia Drummond is a singer-songwriter, percussionist, poet and actress creating mystical atmospheres with her hauntingly beautiful voice and musical talent.    Her musical background is filled with charmed sonorities from all over the world, from Afro-Brazilian chants to celtic music, visiting buddhist and hindu mantras, hebrew, sephardic, gypsy music. By exploring different music traditions, she also explores the languages, singing in Portuguese, English, Spanish, French, Italian (different Italian dialects), Gaelic, Latin, Hebrew, Haitian Criollo, Yoruba, Ladino, Romani, Swedish…   In constant research for as many influences she can find, Giulia refers to her practice as Magical Music. Her gigs are more like musical rituals, in which her deep voice, accompanied by a shruti box and different kinds of drums are the magical instruments, and songs take the audience to many enchanted landscapes.  Giulia’s first album balão de poemagia (meaning something like poemagic balloon) was released in 2018.   Celebrated as a musician in Brazil through her teaching, monthly concerts of new music and theatre performances, Giulia moved to Scotland in 2019 where she quickly became known on the Scottish music scene in Edinburgh.  She regularly performs, collaborates and curates music sessions at the infamous Captains Bar in Edinburgh and Leith Folk Club, collaborates with Flamenco Nova and is a company musician of dance theatre company Slanjayvah Danza - performing traditional Scottish, Gaelic and Spanish music and song in their award winning show, 6 Feet, 3 Shoes.   In 2020 Giulia released her second album, vôo dos balões entre as brumas (balloons flying in the mists).     Prior to Giulia’s artistic career she worked as a psychologist in the Museum of Images of the Unconscious, an artistic sector within a big psychiatric complex called Instituto Municipal Nise da Silveira. The museum is dedicated specifically to the use of artistic expression as treatment in mental health.

I graduated from Kingston University in 2020 with 2:1 honours, specialising in guitar. At age 9 I began learning music through private guitar lessons from an experienced tutor. This greatly improved my playing and inspired me to start teaching others. During my studies at Edinburgh College and Kingston University, I took on voluntary and part time work teaching guitar. I taught in many styles while also tutoring students of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. I always focus on the student's needs and let them choose their own musical path. Music is for enjoyment, whatever that may be for you!

We're a Forró dance group in Edinburgh. We hold regular Forró classes, socials, live music events and workshops with international teachers. Fridays 8PM Beginners Class, followed by open-level social @Boteco do Brasil Wednesdays 8PM Intermediate Class, followed by social @Boteco do Brasil Our community-led Forró group is crazy about dance, music and socialising! Forró is a beautiful Brazilian partner dance. The dance from the north-east of Brazil has become hugely popular across Europe due to its beautiful music and social spirit. We are a highly diverse and international group united by an interest in dance and Brazilian culture. As a group we organise regular classes, workshops and socials. We do this as a not-for-profit group and re-invest any gains from classes back into the group, e.g. in the form of workshops.
