IPAF training is the most widely recognised standard for Mobile Elevated Work Platform operators. These are commonly known as MEWP’s or Scissor Lifts and Cherry Pickers. MHA Training is a fully approved and registered IPAF member and we can deliver a wide range of courses. This can be done at our training centre in Warrington or On-Site at customer premises Nationwide. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) promotes the safe and effective use of powered access worldwide. Set up in 1983, IPAF is a non-profit organisation that represents the interests of member training companies. Over the years, IPAF has played a key role in promoting many of the design safety and testing procedures that are now established in the powered access industry. Companies such as MHA Training in Warrington are responsible for training for over 90,000 operators each year. Those who successfully complete their training at our centre in Warrington, or out On-Site nationwide are awarded the PAL Smart card. The (Powered Access Licence) is the most widely held and recognised qualification for mobile platform operators. The PAL Smart card is valid for five years and shows the machine categories that an operator has been trained on. It also features the holders photo and signature, and can be verified on their website.http://ww.ipaf.org/ IPAF itself does not provide any training, it is provided by approved quality training centres like MHA Training. Approved training centres are regularly audited by IPAF, which ensures the highest standards are consistently met. Class sizes are kept small and courses generally last 1-2 days and are a mixture of theory and practical. To ensure success candidates must then undergo a 30 question multiple choice paper and a practical test. Course material is available in many languages and training centre’s receive regular updates. IPAF’s new E-learning module is part of its full training programme for mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs). The E-learning module delivers flexibility and interactive tools, with the same emphasis on practical training. Together with supervised written and practical testing of operator skills. E-learning can lead to a PAL Card (Powered Access Licence) which proves that the operator has successfully completed the training and is able to operate MEWP’s safely. Benefits: * Flexible. * Trainees complete the theory part anytime, anywhere, on any device, at their own pace. * Interactive. * Engages trainees with games, quizzes, videos and simulations. Operator E-learning does not replace practical training. Trainees who complete the online session must still pass a supervised theory test with an IPAF centre like MHA training. It has been a vital life skill that people have used for members of their own family not just in the workplace. The 3 main goals are to preserve life, prevent worsening and promote recovery. You never know when the need will arise to put these skills to use. THE FIRST AID TRAINING EXPERIENCE. A First Aid training course should be an interactive fun learning experience, not all chalk and talk. This is achieved by using fully qualified trainers/assessors, who are very experienced “hands on” training professionals.  Our trainers are sympathetic to the needs of the individual trainee and adept at getting the best possible standard from the delegates. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FIRST AID AT WORK REGULATIONS: In the event of injury or sudden illness, failure to provide first aid could result in a casualty’s death. The employer should ensure that an employee who is injured or taken ill at work receives immediate attention. HSE will prosecute in cases where there is a significant risk, a disregard for established standards or persistent poor compliance with the law. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HSE FIRST AID AT WORK – IMPORTANT! After 1st October 2013 the HSE is no longer responsible for approving providers of First Aid at Work courses. Providers must be approved by an Ofqual or SQA Awarding Body. Carried out by qualified instructors, the Manual Handling Training course is designed to cover a number of Manual Handling topics. It will enable the candidate on completion to recognise a manual handling problem. It will give them the tools to be able to initiate a risk assessment and lift or carry in a safe manner. THERE IS A MAXIMUM OF UP TO 20 CANDIDATES PER MANUAL HANDLING TRAINING COURSE, HOWEVER WE CAN RUN TWO COURSES PER DAY WITH ONE MANUAL HANDLING INSTRUCTOR. WE ALSO HAVE MORE MANUAL HANDLING INSTRUCTORS AVAILABLE, IF IT IS REQUIRED. THIS MEANS WE CAN RUN COURSES SIMULTANEOUSLY SHOULD THE FACILITIES BE AVAILABLE TO DO SO. The aim of the course is to ensure that safety requirements are appreciated by managers. To enable them to review their own safety systems. It give’s the ability to introduce new controls and possibly implement changes as appropriate to ensure safety in the workplace. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WHO SHOULD ATTEND? The course is designed for managers and supervisors in any sector, who are required to manage health and safety risk and resources within their organisation. It is also beneficial for anybody wishing to get into the Health and Safety profession or Management. The IOSH qualification is an impressive qualification to add to a CV. COURSE DURATION: 3 days. LEARNING OBJECTIVES: On successful completion of the course, delegates should be able to: * Explain ‘managing safely’. * Explain the component parts of a recognised safety management system such as HSG65. * Identify the data and techniques required to produce an adequate record of an incident. To demonstrate the procedure for an accident investigation, recognising the human factors involved. * Describe statutory requirements for reporting and procedures for checking non-reporting. * Describe methods of basic trend analysis for reactive monitoring data. * Define ‘hazard’ and ‘risk’, and describe the legal requirements for risk assessment. * Demonstrate a practical understanding of risk assessment technique and the data required for records. * Describe workplace precaution hierarchies. * Prepare and use active monitoring checklists. To implement schedules for active monitoring, recording results and analysing records. * Outline the main provisions of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations. * Outline relevant health and safety legislation, codes of practice, guidance notes and information sources such as the HSE. Module 6 – Investigating Accidents and Incidents. * 7. Module 7 – Measuring Performance. WHAT DO IOSH MANAGING SAFELY COURSES INVOLVE? The course has seven comprehensive modules. These modules cover risk assessment and control, Health and Safety Legislation [http://www.hse.gov.uk/legislation/], common hazards, accident and incident investigation. Also covered is performance measurement. Effectively covering all aspects of safety management in the workplace. To obtain the IOSH Managing Safely certificate, attendees will need to complete a four day course. The course is delivered using high quality animated graphics. This includes sophisticated, fun presentations to make the content of the course more memorable. With training tools including board games, DVDs and quizzes displaying clear scenarios and essential practical content. We have worked hard to ensure that taking an IOSH Managing Safely course is as enjoyable as possible. Attendees will officially attain their IOSH Managing Safely certificate upon successful completion of both the written and practical assessments of the course. CERTIFICATION: An IOSH Managing Safely certificate is awarded to all those who attend the course successfully completing both written and practical assessments. Candidates will also receive an excellent workbook from IOSH, with all the tools to help them once they are back in the workplace. Understanding of the course material is evaluated by means of a 45-minute written assessment paper consisting of 20 multi-format questions. There is also a practical assessment.
