Developing my business on Instagram has taught me to be more ‘Me’. It’s given me the power to try new things and built my confidence in ways I never expected. It’s why I’m so keen to help guide and inspire other small business owners, taking away the stress around content development and my favourite social media platform, Instagram. I’ve worked in marketing all my career (20-years, yikes!) a large part of it for travel and hospitality brands. I spent a big part of this in Sydney, Australia, which I’ll always think of as my second home. It’s probably why the ocean is my happy place and my brand colours are ocean inspired. I love nothing more than heading to the coast to reflect and recharge.

The Buddy Bag Foundation was founded in 2015 to help make a difference to children entering emergency care; with over 48,000 children entering emergency care each year. The foundation is run by a team of volunteers who supply buddy bags containing essential items to restore a sense of comfort and love to these children. I’ve loved working with The Buddy Bag Foundation for the past 5 or so years. It’s great to give up time & really feel like you are making a difference. We’ve been able to pack bags, I’ve even taken my son along so he can appreciate just how lucky he is. We look forward to hosting more events in the future.

The Latin motto of our college is Pro Petri Fide which means For the Love of Peter. Jesus made Saint Peter the leader of the Apostles and it was on Saint Peter’s faith that Jesus said he would build his Church, Bishop Milner Catholic College is part of this Church and our faith is indeed the faith of Peter. Therefore, our college is committed to offering Christian love and care to each person within it irrespective of their faith background. As such, everyone is valued as a gift from God and treated with utmost respect. Our History Up to 1960 there was no secondary school in Dudley for Roman Catholic children. At the end of 1956 approval was given to build a three storey Roman Catholic secondary school for 400 students. Construction of Bishop Milner Catholic School began September 1957. The build cost of this new school was estimated at around £191,000, it was to include a gymnasium, science and art rooms, a library and a large assembly hall. As the school buildings neared completion, it was decided that the school would be named after Bishop John Milner, the vicar Apostolic of the Midlands. The official opening took place on 21st September 1960 and was conducted by the Most Rev. Francis Grimshaw, Archbishop of Birmingham. There have been many changes to the original building over the years. In 1963 a three floor extension was added to the main building along with a new dining hall. In September 1981 a “Secretary’s” block was also opened. In September 1994 a new large two storey building was built, which included drama and dance studios. In 2003 construction was well underway of what was to become the Bishop Milner Catholic College of today , with multiple ICT suites, Learning Resource Centre, study areas and many new class rooms to replace the 1960s buildings.

Whether it was singing karaoke, listening to audiobooks, or devising a radio station in his bedroom, Mark has always appreciated the power of the human voice. His love for radio started at a local level, in the glory-days of personality-based breakfast radio. That love affair was sparked at his city’s famous BRMB, but a succession of cost-cutting measures, takeovers, and technological advances would slowly snuff out that candle. Episode one Mark studied Media & Communication at Birmingham City University, specialising in Internet radio. He graduated the year the term “podcasting” was coined, but it would be a further four years before he’d pluck up the courage to pick up a mic and plug it into the Internet. But in 2008, the podcast bug finally bit, and Mark started what would be a 14+ year career helping people make podcasts, first in exchange for beer, and then for money. The little company with the robot fist for a logo In 2016 Mark founded the media hosting company Podiant, which took him to the British Podcast Awards, and saw him present at International Podcast Day in 2020. The product served millions of listeners across thousands of podcasts, and in 2021 Mark sold Podiant so he could focus on working more closely with individuals and small teams, to set them up for podcasting success from day one. From the ear to the brain to the heart Mark founded Origin in 2021 to help impact entrepreneurs build trust with their audiences, and catalyse change. He does this through a combination of consulting, training, coaching, and production. It centres around driving messages from the ear to the brain, where – through consistency and authenticity – they eventually land in listeners’ hearts.

My name is Alice Liley and I run the Tumble Tots franchise in the Worthing area. Classes have been hosted here for over 30 years and I have been leading since 2020. I brought my own son to Tumble Tots in 2013 and immediately fell in love with the Tumble Tots programme. I watched as my son developed confidence, self esteem and the essential skills of agility, balance, climbing and co-ordination that are so important in the early years. We had such fun together that when the opportunity arrived to lead other families and children through the programme I jumped, with both feet, at it! I have been stitching since I was eight and am a self-confessed thread junkie. I buy amazing threads, get them home and wonder what I shall do with them! I make bags, panels, pictures and cushions. My work includes technically correct embroidered pieces, freestyle work, and I make and embellish felt. I use whatever technique I feel suits the project and I’ve always got at least three or four things on the go. I also knit for fun, and do extreme knitting making rugs and throws. Crewelwork is my favourite technique, and I love to experiment with threads and fabrics using a crewel design style. My current inspirations are butterflies and dragons. I taught myself many techniques and in 2005 achieved my RSN Certificate. I have worked for an embroidery company but now prefer to work freelance as I can ‘play’ more. I ran Zweigart’s UK distribution for a while, which gave me a good insight into different fabrics and how they can be used.
