Established in 1982, our aim is to take you on a journey to experience the talent, skill, originality and beauty of contemporary craft made by craftspeople based in the UK today. For the past 40 years our seasonal exhibition programme has been bringing together the very best of handmade contemporary jewellery, ceramics, limited edition prints, glass, wood, textiles and works in mixed media exploring specific themes. We also provide an ever changing selection of makers who support and enrich each main exhibition. We support new and emerging makers as well as more established makers and over our remarkably rich history we have introduced thousands of talented individuals to visitors to the vibrant city of Leeds. Everything on display is for sale so we're a retail space as well as a gallery environment for you to take a mindful moment away from daily life. With work by over 300 designers on display at any one time you're sure to find what you're looking for; whether it be for inspiration, gift buying or simply to while away a peaceful lunch hour.

Welcome to our inspirational school that is delivering a unique, quality and individualised High School education to autistic students. Lighthouse School came about through five families with children on the autistic spectrum who had identified a great demand for a school that specifically met the needs of students on the autistic spectrum. Our vision was to create a school where students can thrive, where their needs are fully understood and met, where learning is individualised and aligned to their destination, and where the environment supports their specific learning styles. We want to enable our students to develop independence, a true sense of their own self-worth and the capacity to contribute to society and live a full and happy life. The Government’s Free School Programme gave us the ideal vehicle to turn the vision into reality and we were fortunate to be the first Special Free School in the country to open its doors in September 2012.

tyro studios

The word ‘tyro’ is the Latin word meaning ‘a beginner or a novice’ and at Tyro Studios we have created a space for all to learn without judgement or pressure to be anything but a beginner. TYRO Studios is a studio / retail space based in Shipley, West Yorkshire, where we host creative workshops and lifestyle events. It is also home to a curated range of gifts & lifestyle goods. At TYRO Studios we run different workshops and events from floral arranging, to modern calligraphy, water colour painting, macrame & much much more. Our spaces are inclusive and safe for all people. All our workshops are run by incredibly talented and passionate tutors and are perfect for beginners. Our tickets are fully inclusive, you will not need to buy anything from us when you arrive; this includes all your materials and refreshments - all you need to provide is enthusiasm. Our workshops are aimed at adults (18+) as we serve alcohol. Our classes are small (6-10 people) to ensure that everyone gets as much direct assistance from our tutors as possible and run from 1.5 hours to 3 hours maximum (please check your specific workshop for timings) We cannot wait to meet and host you!
