We operate 10 libraries, 4 sports centres with gyms and pools, a 330 seat theatre, 18 community facilities incorporating a wide range of halls, social function and events venues, community centres and pavilions. We also manage the letting of 35 schools in the evenings and weekends. We deliver a wide variety of programmes like sports development (including swimming lessons, sports coaching, Active Schools Programme), arts development (including classes and events), and library and literacy programmes (ranging from Bookbug to Book Week, authors’ talks to book groups). PARADICE A BRIEF HISTORY One day in the early 1970’s Ross Blong, a farmer with imagination as it turned out, came home from a particularly unpleasant milking and told his wife Nell he had enough and wanted to find something different to do! After searching for a “people business” they decided on an ice skating rink in Glen Innes and purchased it in 1974. After a steep learning curve they established Paradice on the map as a great family entertainment facility in Auckland. By 1980 they had dreams of building New Zealand’s first international size indoor arena and had it up and running by May 1981 at our current Avondale location at Lansford Cresent. It has been popular ever since with families and as a “hang out” for teens and young adults. There have been several transformations since its opening with the most recent being completed in 2011 to include a state of the art ice floor, dasher boards and refrigeration system. By the late 1990’s the second family generation having being heavily involved in ice sports at an international level dreamed of a second, Olympic sized indoor ice rink, again a first for New Zealand, and it was built in 1999 at its current location Botany Downs. The rink is still going strong today. In 2012 Paradice owned and operated Auckland’s first temporary outdoor ice rink at Aotea Square which has turned into an annual winter wonderland type event with the addition of NZ’s first event ice slide in 2014. Our temporary ice rinks have expanded to Rotorua, Wellington, and Taupo. Through the years Paradice has operated as a family, customer focused friendly business with staff sharing their passion for people and ice with innovation!

Therefore, our college is committed to offering Christian love and care to each person within it irrespective of their faith background. As such, everyone is valued as a gift from God and treated with utmost respect. Our History Up to 1960 there was no secondary school in Dudley for Roman Catholic children. At the end of 1956 approval was given to build a three storey Roman Catholic secondary school for 400 students. Construction of Bishop Milner Catholic School began September 1957. The build cost of this new school was estimated at around £191,000, it was to include a gymnasium, science and art rooms, a library and a large assembly hall. As the school buildings neared completion, it was decided that the school would be named after Bishop John Milner, the vicar Apostolic of the Midlands. The official opening took place on 21st September 1960 and was conducted by the Most Rev. Francis Grimshaw, Archbishop of Birmingham. There have been many changes to the original building over the years. In 1963 a three floor extension was added to the main building along with a new dining hall. In September 1981 a “Secretary’s” block was also opened. In September 1994 a new large two storey building was built, which included drama and dance studios. In 2003 construction was well underway of what was to become the Bishop Milner Catholic College of today , with multiple ICT suites, Learning Resource Centre, study areas and many new class rooms to replace the 1960s buildings.

Canine Hoopers UK was formed in 2017 to provide UK handlers and their dogs with a fun, fast, low-impact sport. Clubs, societies and individuals are able to host Canine Hoopers UK shows, competitions and training by Accredited Instructors. Canine Hoopers UK strives to protect the long term well-being of the dog by maintaining flowing courses of low impact obstacles and aims to be an inclusive dog sport making sure that this sport is accessible to all dogs and handlers, in particular large and tiny breeds, dogs which require a little extra space, patience or understanding and also to handlers with limited mobility. Canine Hoopers UK endeavours to promote only force free modern training techniques through the training and assessment and of our Accredited Canine Hoopers UK Instructor scheme. All Accredited Canine Hoopers UK Instructors have been thoroughly assessed and only awarded accreditation when they prove their understanding, knowledge and teaching aptitude, meaning you are secure in the knowledge that your learning journey will be both fun, and safe, and that the instruction you receive will be to the highest standard. We are committed to making sure that all Canine Hoopers UK Accredited Trainers are consistently teaching to a high standard, they use only modern force free training techniques and are promoting everything this wonderful sport has to offer. For those wishing to showcase their abilities, there are Canine Hoopers UK shows held all year round throughout the UK. The International Consortium for Social Development (ICSD) is an organization of practitioners, scholars and students in the human services. It was started in the 1970’s by a group of social work educators to respond to pressing human concerns from an international, interdisciplinary perspective. The organization seeks to develop conceptual frameworks and effective intervention strategies geared to influencing local, national and international systems. It is committed to creating peaceful solutions to the problems of survival at the local, national and global levels. ICSD members use a social development approach to: Develop capacity of individuals and communities Promote world peace and social justice Improve access to adequate health care and education Overcome discrimination against women and minorities Create sustainable income and economic structures ICSD serves as a clearinghouse for information on international social development. We support parents with aspirations for their teenagers – those who want to gain admission to top universities. We help to improve Exam Grades in Core Academic subjects at GCSE and A-level. On average, our students are performing at around a B grade in school before they join us; within a year, they improve by about two grade points. Our main programmes are: Saturday School during term time and Intensive Revision during school holidays. We also have flexible unit-based learning and the premium Consultation Tuition (one-to-one by a top consultant teacher). At the start of the pandemic, we temporarily moved online but we have now opened our centres again for in-person teaching; however, we still run separate online lessons for those who prefers online. Our centres are now open for in-person teaching at: St James School, Kensington Olympia and Trinity School in East Croydon*. We cover the core academic subjects of Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English at both GCSE and A-level. In addition to all the above, we also provide for Further Maths, Economics, History and Psychology at A-level. At GCSE, we cover Further Maths and all the science options – Triple and Combined (double or trilogy) Our teachers are of the highest quality and we have a proven track record for over 16 years. Excel in Key Subjects consists of a group of fully qualified and highly experienced secondary school teachers. Some teach in the Independent and some in the State sector. Our main objective is to help improve grades. We provide classes in small groups for students aged 13 to 19 on Saturdays. We also have a Revision programmes during School holidays.
