Edge of Play, formed in late 2017, is an online coaching resource, providing football coaches with hundreds of football coaching videos from the grassroots and professional game. Our website is subscription based and features videos from grassroots coaches, elite level clubs, academies and professional players all sharing exciting ideas and insights. The site allows you to link in with your social media profiles to share content with peers, clubs and players. Our vision is to build a global, inclusive, online community of coaches: learning, interacting and creating, together. It is through our work with our clubs, that we have become acutely aware of the challenges facing amateur, semi-pro and even professional coaches. We know that in coaching (like most other jobs) people are always looking for new content to ensure their players remain in love with the game; to keep them engaged, learning, developing, and most importantly having fun. However, we are also aware that not everyone has the same circumstances, opportunities, or environment in which to coach. Therefore we are to provide the best service for the lowest cost! Leveraging our strengths as an innovator in online learning design, development, delivering, and funding, we volunteer our skills and energy and partner with organizations to deliver STEAM education to children in these developing nations, starting with Colombia. In 2020, after an intense 5-year review, Colombia was welcomed as the newest OECD member. In 2021, GeeLearn Ltd. Partnered with the Children’s University at the University of EAFIT (Universidad de Los Ninos de Universidad Escuela de Administración, Finanzas Instituto Tecnológico) in order to volunteer its skills, knowledge, and talents to expanding the reach of Children’s University via digital learning throughout not only Colombia but the whole of Latin America. Background of GeeLearn Ltd. and its Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative: Online Science Education for Children: Colombia to Latin America 2020 – 2023 GeeLearn Ltd. is a social enterprise headquartered in The Melting Pot, “Scotland’s Leading Centre for Innovation”. This volunteer effort for EAFIT Universidad de Los Ninos on behalf of GeeLearn Ltd. represents a social good and comprises a major part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative over a period of three years. The CSR initiative was approved by the company’s board of directors in the Autumn of 2020. The goal of the company was to engage with an educational initiative to help serve children in a developing country that is a member of the OECD. Colombia became an official member of the OECD in 2020, the 37thcountry to do so in the organization’s 60-year history. The directors of GeeLearn Ltd. have identified 6 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that its volunteer cooperation with EAFIT’s Universidad de Los Ninos touches upon and will help Colombia achieve. Touch Typing is an essential life skill and we find that children who learn accurately to literally type without looking at their fingers, will save time in producing homework and in exams etc. As experienced Specialist Teachers, we are able to effectively differentiate and individualise touch typing challenges so that all students achieve their potential. Multi-sensory learning, through games and incentives, create a brilliantly fun atmosphere in which children aged 7 upwards, thrive! We have children who want to learn good basic typing skills and those who need this skill in order to type for GCSEs, and A Level exams. Note taking, punctuation skills and real time typing under pressure are also explored with the advanced students. An encouraging, motivating and uplifting environment is created in which children of all learning abilities thrive. We specialise in helping children with dyslexia, dyspraxia, dysgraphia and hypermobility as well as for those just want to learn it as a life skill, or for application towards the skill section of the DofE levels. Our testimonies tell of children literally loving the courses to such an extent, that they often come back time and time again, bringing their siblings and friends for follow up courses! Our success and popularity as a college are built upon our commitment to providing our students with the best possible learning environment and highest possible standards of support and guidance. We are proud of the excellent relationships that exist between staff and students and our purposeful, lively and friendly atmosphere. Since opening, the College has been a popular choice for students and has continued to expand. There are approximately 2000 students on roll with a significant proportion travelling to Darlington from County Durham, Teesside and North Yorkshire. We also enrol a significant number from independent schools. The majority of our students have a full A Level Study Programme and the academic work of the College is of a high standard with an excellent record of examination success across the curriculum. In 2021 our A Level pass rate was an outstanding 100% with a high grade rate of over 64%. Over recent years, we have invested more than £7 million in our buildings and facilities at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College. Southend Adult Community College (SACC) is Southend Borough Council’s provider of adult education, providing education and training to more than 5,000 learners. SACC provides 100s of part-time leisure courses, English, maths, employability courses, traineeships, vocational qualifications, CPD and industry specific training for adults and for young people 16+ apprenticeships and full-time vocational programmes. SACC provides community outreach provision and family learning in local community venues and employee training and assessment on employer premises. SACC has three activity centres, its main Southchurch Centre, an adult centre at Belfairs Academy in Leigh and a specialist centre for young adults with complex and profound learning difficulties and disabilities in Westcliff. At our last Ofsted inspection, SACC was judged for the second time as a good college with outstanding features. Key findings are: • success rates have improved over the last few years and many are well above national rates • learners develop good practical, vocational and employability skills. They make good progress in developing these skills • learners on study programmes do well. The college has made a significant contribution to reducing the number of young people in the borough who are not in education, employment or training (NEET) • staff are particularly effective at finding good work placements for learners on employability programmes. These placements relate directly to learners’ aims and provide good workplace experience • teachers use their professional skills and knowledge well to help learners relate their studies to the world of work and gain employment or promotion • staff, at all levels, create good partnerships with a range of agencies. I have to admit I have never learned this language but I did manage to learn words and make little sentences just by overhearing my mum talking to other family members. Days after I was born, we moved to Madrid, where I learned Castellano. Madrid is where I was raised with my two older sisters. When I was 21 I moved to Ireland to learn English and after a few years traveling around the island and working, I came to England with my son and his Dad. I have brought up my son bilingual, which has helped him with his Spanish GCSE. Our friendly comprehensive swimming programme is spread across 29 progressive levels suitable for the early introduction of babies, from 10 weeks old in our Level 1, right through to children of approximately 7 or 8 years in our Child Level 29. We not only teach the children how to swim but also, water confidence, water safety and when older, snorkeling, rescue and how to use underwater scooters! And you can choose between many venues with weekday or weekend classes Not only has the Aquatots programme been carefully enhanced and adapted over the 22 years to be the best Baby, Toddler and Child swimming program available, but we also take care to ensure that the babies and children are swimming in a suitable and warm environment. For example our baby classes will always be taught in warm, shallow private pools ensuring the perfect relaxed surroundings for new parents and first time swimmers. Once the children are able to swim independently, we move to bigger pools providing the extra space required, so all swimmers are encouraged to develop their skills to their maximum potentials. We also want and need our parents to join us in the water throughout the programme, even into the later swim levels. This not only keeps this activity as a shared family event ensuring learning continues outside of our lessons, on holiday for example, but also avoids that common issue in many other swim clubs without parents, where children sadly spend lots of wasted time waiting for a Teacher to swim with each one individually. During that time they often start to get bored and lose their enthusiasm. Having a parent in the water ensures that each child has a personal assistant at all time, to enhance and speed up the learning process altogether.
