I hope that it will give you an insight into our vibrant academy where dedicated staff inspire our students to enjoy learning and to achieve more than they ever think they could. We are committed to the development of the whole child at Patchway. Supporting young people to achieve excellent outcomes at GCSE and post 16 levels is the most powerful thing we can do for those students and for the community we serve. Our results this year show impressive improvement, with 58.5% of students achieving A*-C grades in both English and maths GCSEs. In the sixth form, 68% of A level grades were A*-C, and in BTEC 86% of grades were distinction. We value and reward effort, determination and aspiration and we are proud that our learners become strong and confident individuals who are able to make a positive contribution to their local and wider community.

I am a qualified Primary School Teacher and have a BA Hons degree in Mathematics with Qualified Teaching Status in Primary Education. I have had over 20 years of experience teaching children across all ages. I have vast experience in managing children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). During my time in school I have been a class teacher, SENCo and SEN teacher and I have recently completed a Level 5 Diploma Teaching Learners with Dyslexia/Specific Learning Difficulties. I am DBS checked and insured. I have welcomed students into my home for bespoke one to one tutoring for over 10 years. I have tutored children up to the age of 16 in mathematics (including GCSE higher level) and English up to Year 7, as well as 11+ preparation for both grammar and independent schools. I believe with the right attention and approach in a fun, trusting environment; all children are able to achieve their best and make progress. I am passionate about helping children help themselves to become independent learners.

My name is Amy Powell and I am a catalyst for reconnecting people with their innate creativity. At Bristol Art For All we facilitate friendly, inclusive learning environments where people can explore their creativity. We started in 2015 running an open access drop in face-to-face community art class in Easton in Bristol. From December 2019 to March 2020 sessions moved to Hamilton House in Stokes Croft Bristol and since April 2020 have been online. Online sessions are run in partnership with local charities as well as sessions open to all adults. Current partners include Age UK and St Mungo’s Recovery College. All online sessions are around a theme selected by the participants, who use the art materials and skills they already have to devise their own projects. Support is on hand to give input on what is made. The sessions act as an online art studio with time for making and opportunities to share and get feedback on artwork. Participants are seen as artists first with the acceptance that we are all on our own life journeys. The focus is on creating learning environments where people enjoy the process of making. With this strong foundation people can have the confidence and resilience to develop further skills. This website gives a taste of the work made over the course of Bristol Art For All. Myself and Rosa Hewitt began Bristol Art For All in 2015. In 2017 Rosa went to the University of Hertfordshire to study Art Therapy. She now works in London as an art therapist with children. I continued with the project in Bristol with the support of volunteers, building my knowledge, experience and skills by studying courses in teaching, facilitation, communication and social enterprise. As well as volunteering with Arts and Health organisations including Studio Upstairs, Bristol Art on Prescription, Workers Education Association (WEA), Milestones Expressions programme and St Mungos Recovery College where I currently run their online art class. I love being a catalyst for people to reconnect with their creativity. It is a great privilege to have worked with over 200 people across Bristol and beyond. Some have attended for years others for one session but all have been welcome and encouraged in their art making. I am currently in the process of making Bristol Art For All into an online art school to reach people who would otherwise struggle to access mainstream arts education. I am interested to connect with organisations, which work with clients who would benefit from exploring and developing their creativity with the support of being in a group.

SOPHIE RAE IS A MURAL ARTIST WORKING PREDOMINANTLY IN BRISTOL, LONDON + THE SOUTH WEST SPECIALISING IN BOLD, COLOURFUL, BOTANICAL, ABSTRACT DESIGNS Sophie Rae loves gliding a paintbrush across a smooth surface, transforming bland grey walls into beautiful works of art. It is truly where she gets in the flow. She loves working on walls outside and in, large scale murals as well as smaller ones. She’s painted murals in gardens, cafes, bars, restaurants, offices, schools, shop and high street facades and hoardings, to name a few. Drawing inspiration from plants (glorious plants) and enlarging, and playing with abstraction until a sweet balanced composition emerges. As well as mural painting Sophie creates beautiful prints, lovingly handcrafted, without using a press. Shapes are sketched and refined, then cut by hand with a craft knife into stencils. A roller then applies ink in the gaps. This helps give each print its irregularities. If you’re after learning from Sophie Rae she can be found sharing her unique printing technique, inspiring and igniting creativity through (fairly) regularly teaching workshops. Once a month at Kiln Workshop, in Bristol and now and again at schools and colleges across the South West, sometimes even further! Check out the workshops page. Our aim is to raise the bar in inclusive youth coaching which will ensure all children have access to first class appropriate Football coaching.
