Our Academy is a special place which is only confirmed when you meet with our young people and the staff that support them. Lisa McVeigh The Academy was established in 2008 by joint sponsors Sir David Samworth and the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham. Their vision was to create an inclusive place where people and students come first and where students can be educated holistically as well as academically and leave prepared for a long and happy adult life – 70 plus great years. Our emphasis and exploration of our Christian values, as well as our membership of the international Round Square organisation, encourages students to ‘Be The Best They Can Be’ and to explore their own (perhaps hidden) talents and potential in a wide range of ways. Our beautiful and lovingly cared for campus houses a range of sometimes unexpected facilities including a climbing wall, high ropes course, Dance Studio and Drama Pod, a Combined Cadet Force, a fully functioning hairdressing salon and well populated animal care unit. We are also committed to delivering the best academic education we can for our young people and to training and supporting our teachers to be the best and most innovative teachers they can be. Our teaching facilities are modern and well-equipped and we are always looking for ways to improve them further. We are very proud of what has been achieved by our fantastic young people in the past and excited at the limitless potential of current and future students. Together they have a combined experience of over 65 years experience as educational psychologists working across the UK. For 18 years since founding Inclusive Solutions they have offered a range of inspiring inclusion oriented services including casework, person centred planning, innovative training and community building. Previously as Principal and Senior strategic Educational Psychologists in Nottingham City LEA, they bring a wealth of practical, applied solutions and processes from their work with children and young people with exceptional needs aged between 0-19. Together they have written several books such as: Creating Circles of Friends, Circles of Adults, Restorative Solutions, Keys to Inclusion and Person Centred Planning Together.  Inclusive Solutions  is also a small publishing house and has published a number of books for other leading internationally renouned inclusive authors including: Incurably Human, Taking the Time, Seeing the Charade, Quiet Riot and Dear Parents. They have planted and built Community Circles in Nottingham, Scotland and Suffolk. They continue to co facilitate Nottingham NG Circle which has been running for over 8 years. Currently they are providing training nationally and internationally with a wonderful team of associates.

At Nottingham Girls’ Academy, we strive to fulfil everyone’s learning potential within a kind, nurturing and inclusive environment. We value high standards, hard work and a ceaseless desire to improve. But, most importantly, we enjoy the journey together. Research shows that a single sex environment empowers girls to realise their potential. We foster a caring, supportive and happy environment which encourages our girls to flourish. In terms of behaviour, uniform and Academy standards we are very traditional and have high expectations. We expect pupils to wear the full Academy uniform correctly, attend well, behave respectfully to others and to work hard. We also believe that education is more than just academic success and aim to develop the whole person. Our curriculum nurtures the development of qualities and skills alongside the acquisition of knowledge. It is broad and balanced, develops ‘cultural capital’ with enrichment activities and is complimented by a wide range of extra-curricular activities and events, which we encourage all girls to take part in.
