Founded in 1991, we have been delivering international education students for 31 years. Today, our courses help over 50,000 UK and international students achieve academic success every year. Our History Oxford International Education Group was founded in 1991 as ISIS Education and Travel by David Brown and Robert Darell. The company started operating outbound tours for UK University students through the academic year from September to June. During the summer, we established summer English languages courses for international students. To gain financing to grow the business, the Founders turned to the Prince’s Trust, one of the UK’s most successful youth charities. The Trust offered David and Robert a £5,000 loan and two mentors to help see the business through the next stage of its lifecycle. Oxford International has grown to be one of the top 10 businesses sponsored by the Trust and remains closely associated with it today. The education opportunities we can offer students from around the world have grown in diversity and size since then, enabling us to support over 500,000 students since 1991. A Brief Timeline of the last 29 years In 1993, we established our first UK adult English language school with the acquisition of Greenwich School of English. In 1999, we opened the Brighton School of English, offering General English courses. Oxford International added Bucksmore Education to our family to provide high-quality summer courses to individual students in 2003. Growing our presence in the UK’s academic centre, in 2010, we were delighted to acquire Oxford Sixth Form College in the centre of Oxford next to Oriel College. In 2013, Oxford International went international for the first time, acquiring our Vancouver and Toronto English language schools. The same year, Oxford International was very proud to sign a Pathways partnership agreement with De Montfort University to open and run the Leicester International Pathway College (renamed to De Montfort University International College) in the heart of the great De Montfort campus. Our first students arrived in June 2014. In 2014, we were proud to invite Bowmark Capital on board as a minority investor in Oxford International. Bowmark are very experienced investors in the education and travel sector, with their support, we were able to pursue our ambitious strategy for growth in the UK and overseas. Also in 2014, we added San Diego to our centres in North America. Back in the UK, d’Overbroeck’s School was welcomed to the Group, and we acquired Homelingua, now known as Bucksmore Home Tuition. In 2016 Bangor University International College welcomed its first cohort of international students. Since then, we have continued to grow our University Partnerships division with two partners in the UK and one in Germany. In 2017, International College Dundee began teaching integrated Bachelors and Masters courses. The University of Greenwich International College followed in 2018, becoming our first embedded college in London. In 2020, we launched Jacobs University International College, our first embedded college in Europe, the first of its kind in Germany. In 2021, Oxford International strengthened its position as a premier university partnerships, digital education, and language provider through a management buyout backed by THI Investments and the sale of its schools division to Nord Anglia Education. Oxford International’s launch of the OI Digital Institute and European partnership with Jacobs University in 2020 has further developed the international education sector online and in Europe. Courses offered in the OI Digital Institute have supported over 5,000 students in achieving UK university admissions and delivered unrivalled partner services for higher education institutions. The university partnerships division has launched a new UK pathways collaboration with the University of Bradford, while its first partnership with De Montfort University has been nominated in the PIEoneer awards for public/private partnership. The English Language division, which opened its latest language school in New York, North America, continues to enrich its academic offering by equipping students with language skills necessary for the modern-day learner. We believe we’re just getting started and the best is yet to come. We are located in the beautiful, rural village setting of Kinver and serve a wide area also comprising the South Staffordshire villages of Stourton, Swindon, Bobbington and Trysull. Over recent years a substantial number of children have travelled in from Dudley and the southern and western parts of Stourbridge including Norton, Wollaston, Wordsley, Cookley in Worcestershire. Our coaches pick up from all of these locations. Kinver is also conveniently located for travel to and from Bridgnorth and Kidderminster. Academic work at all stages at Kinver High is important, but our idea of education goes beyond the classroom. We have an exceptional range of extra-curricular activities, through involvement in sports teams, musical performances and a variety of lunchtime and after-school clubs designed to engage and inspire students to pursue their own interests and develop their talents. Tutor Matching Service (TMS) was created to promote student success with the core mission of increasing access to one-on-one education in higher education. Since our founding in 2008, we have expanded our purpose to now be able to curate the best technology options for learning centers, tutors, and students, helping to enhance the tutoring experience, in-person and online. We are established partners in the learning center community, partnering with over 200 colleges and universities, as well as being long-time members of the National College Learning Center Association (NCLCA) and the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA). TMS’s Web-Based Tutor List CONNECTING STUDENTS TO TUTORS, OR “THE BEGINNING” TMS was originally piloted and financially sponsored by a handful of university tutoring centers (learning centers), career centers, and student governments including IUPUI (an Indiana University campus), Caltech, and NYU-Polytechnic (now NYU Tandon). At many colleges and universities across the country there are gaps in the free tutoring services available to students. This can be due to limited space or hours and tight budgets. Often there aren’t tutors available for students in upper level courses in departments such as physics, chemistry, engineering, finance, and foreign languages. Tutor Matching Service helps solve these problems by providing a safe, simple environment for connecting students in-person and online with private tutors across a wide variety of subjects. Also, colleges and universities often get frequent phone calls from parents of high school students looking for high quality, inexpensive peer tutors for their children. Parents want to find tutors for a variety of situations, from the student who is having difficulty passing algebra, to the AP student who needs a tutor and role model. Local brick and mortar tutoring companies charge $65-$95/hr, which is not affordable for the majority of families. By using TMS, learning centers can support their local community by allowing their certified tutors to tutor privately in a safe and secure way. Tutor Essentials ENHANCING TUTOR’S SKILLS, OR “NEXT STEPS” After increasing access to tutoring for students across the country, TMS recognized a need for a simple yet effective tutor training program that could be provided to their school partners. TMS partnered with Purdue University to develop Tutor Essentials, which is being used by learning centers across the country to enhance their tutor training program. It is a College Reading and Learning Center endorsed, self-paced, and the only complete online tutor training course that counts for 4 hours of CRLA Level 1 ITTPC Certification. GoBoard ONLINE TUTORING FOR EVERYONE, OR “WHERE WE WENT NEXT” After many years of connecting students and tutors for online tutoring sessions, TMS decided to develop their own online platform that met the growing demand for an exceptional online tutoring experience. GoBoard is a first-in-its-class online tutoring platform that combines video conferencing, an interactive canvas, and educational tools like a graphing calculator to create a highly engaging online tutoring session. It even tracks the hours for reporting purposes and records all sessions in a secure administrative panel. It has been thoroughly tested by over 60+ learning centers and is for higher education learning centers to utilize in their day to day operations. Study Edge WHEN STUDENTS NEED A LITTLE MORE HELP, OR “WHERE WE ARE GOING” While there are hundreds of excellent tutors available on TMS, students often need additional academic support to access on their own outside of the classroom or tutoring session. To fill in this gap in support, Tutor Matching Service is excited to introduce a new resource to learning centers- Study Edge. Study Edge is the best option out there for 24/7 academic support in historically challenging courses. Study Edge provides engaging, to-the-point video content, practice problems, quizzes, and helpful PDF study guides for college courses, all delivered through easy-to-use web and mobile apps. Study Edge resources are highly effective at supporting students with often challenging material. The content is aligned with the most commonly used textbooks, including OpenStax. Hello!! My name is Muge and I am the founder of My Breathing Path! I was born in Istanbul, Turkey and I lived there until 2018. I was working in the Turkish finance industry for more than 10 years and during that time I was suffering from an advanced hernia in my neck. Working in a high stress environment and dealing with lots of problems at the same time, made me a super-achiever. I first came across breathwork in a workshop in 2010. It was extremely powerful but also it was completely different to the other techniques that I had tried before. As I continued to go to the sessions, it helped me to understand my behaviour as a perfectionist and its subsequent consequences for my life, the hernia and my unbalanced relationship with my family, friends and colleagues. After experiencing healing and transformation myself, I decided to become a facilitator. Since 2014, I have been working in the field of Transformational Breath as a Certified Transformational Breath Facilitator in private sessions, workshops and seminars while I continued to work in my finance career. I have experience in working with a wide variety of people – each possessing their own set of needs and goals. My further qualifications, Basic DNA Theta Healing Practitioner and Reiki II Certification are used in conjunction with Transformational Breath sessions to help people reach their potential and achieve their goals. Life is a combination of different journeys and within my new journey in the UK, I look forward to sharing my experiences through transformational breathing sessions with others, who want to discover more about themselves with transformation in their life, increase their self-awareness and live a healthier lifestyle.
