We look for the individuality and magic in every young person that we train. The Television Workshop train students between the ages of 7 and 21. “Workshop doesn’t look precious but what you get from it is precious. Cherish it.” Vicky McClure - Line of Duty / Trigger Point / This is England Who we are The Television Workshop is a BAFTA award winning drama group and TV casting resource with a strong focus on diversity and inclusion. Founded in 1983, and a registered charity since 2012, the group has bases in both Nottingham and Manchester. At the Television Workshop we look for the individuality in every young person that we train. Our students are authentic. We don’t want you to recognise a Television Workshop student because they are all the same. We want you to know that they are hardworking, truthful in their performance and willing to listen, learn and deliver. Over the years a number of our students have gone on to great success in the industry. We have award winning actors, writers and directors as well as editors and production crew. Many others go on to successful careers outside of the industry, working in everything from construction to medicine. We’re incredibly proud of all of them and they all carry a little bit of Workshop magic into everything they do. As a charity, The Television Workshop is able to keep fees affordable and offer places purely on the basis of talent.

Maria Falconer is a professional photographer and part time lecturer in Photography at De Montfort University.  She also runs online and live workshops with her partner Paul Hill in the UK and Europe. She holds an MA in Photography, is a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society and has exhibited in the UK, France, Belgium, Ireland, South East Asia and the US. Originally a photojournalist, Paul has had a rich career as a photographer and and a teacher. In 2008 he was awarded an MBE for services to photography and in 2014 the Royal Photographic Society award for Photographic Education. Tranquil Plants are bringing the inspirational and health benefits of plants back into our world by working with Kokedama. Stefan Thomas, Tranquil Plants’ professional ‘plant whisperer’, has a personal passion unlike anyone else after being inspired by botanical decor when his father built 13 tropical houses in Australia. He is an expert in the Japanese art form of Kokedama, and his talks are beautifully illustrated with sparkling inspiration, intriguing history and horticultural allure.  When Stefan started his journey to founding Tranquil Plants, he was inspired by the fact that Kokedama had no pots but still looked beautiful and functioned just as well, if not better, than plants with pots. The more he started to play around with the idea, making moss balls and watering them in his bathtub, the more he realised how easy they were to look after. He discovered that, unlike normal houseplants, Kokedama have an in-built barometer to test whether they need watering: simply lift your plant. If it’s light, it’s ready to water! Stefan now shares his passion with the world.
