Rebels Gym Nottingham is situated within the community at Radford and works with various projects along with helping to get youths off the street into training within the gym environment, in recognition of this we were officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Nottingham in July 17. Its friendly and welcoming atmosphere is well renowned amongst its regular members and is often remarked upon by its passing trade. The gyms low cost no nonsense approach to its visitors has been welcomed by many and set to continue. Welcome to Soar Valley Archers. Our club has a rich and proud heritage of some thirty years standing. We are based in the beautiful village of Seagrave in Leicestershire. We are privileged enough to also have the use an indoor facility which allows us to continue our activities throughout the winter months. This last year has seen our membership nearly double which is great news for both the club and the sport of Archery. I am keen to encourage our Junior Members and we will be running 3 Beginners/new intake courses of six week duration throughout the year. This gives us more control over providing enough training equipment and to monitor numbers more easily. We have a varied membership ranging from 8 to 80 years of age and we are open to all members of the community. We are extremely proud of our safety record and there are always senior members on hand to provide assistance and advice when required. I am addicted to archery and it is so refreshing to be able to join up with so many like minded enthusiasts. Our members specialise in every different archery discipline from ancient longbow to more modern recurve bows and we also have a healthy number of compound archers who embrace the latest technology that the sport has to offer. If you want to take part in competitions and tournaments we regularly enter teams for major events or even if you just want some exercise and pleasant company. We are a friendly bunch and a warm welcome awaits anyone wishing to take up this ancient sport.

Making anything right now is a radical act in defiance of fear: making something however simple seeming – baking bread, making the bed; making art or a garden; a stiff drink or your mind up. It’s time to get creative and figure out how to keep our fingers busy, hearts full and souls satisfied. Time to roll sleeves up and get those hands dirty (as long as you wash ’em before and afterwards!) Finding ways to continue connections and sustain friendship feels so important, we’re glad that you’re a part of our community. Whatever comes next we have to make it together. Even if we can’t be with you here there are things that we’d like to share. There are tools at the workshop waiting for hands to use them. We’ll be glad to see shavehorses, benchhooks, chopping blocks, mallets and whittling tools loaned out to good homes, keeping folk crafting. We were so lucky to recieve a lot of wood before the doors closed, we’d love to see it go out to people who can use it. Let us know if you’d like a delivery of fresh green cherry, birch, whitebeam or oak. There are books in the library that could keep you busy learning something new over the next weeks and months. We’re working online too, hosting a shared space to chip away at whatever you feel like. Making a place to talk, weep, dance, laugh while we carve something beautiful together. Fridays are a good time to try, if someone is in the studio then you are virtually welcome to sit and have a cuppa, what’s on your mind?
