Using a bespoke arts programme we are aiming to address some of the issues that can affect an ageing population of a city. We want to help improve the social well-being of older people and make our over 60's more visible and active in society.
Nottingham Castle Trust is delighted to be working with University of Nottingham colleagues and city cultural partners as part of this innovative project. We are keen to develop and build on the existing digital interactives which play a key part in the new visitor experience at Nottingham Castle, as we emerge from the challenges of the pandemic.
Our Pre-Primary Ballet Classes (for boys and girls) are aimed at slightly older children. Each week children begin to learn the basics of ballet as well as continuing to develop posture and coordination of motor skills. The school follow the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA) syllabus where children have the opportunity to work towards examinations and medals (it is however not compulsory and children are more than welcome to just participate and move up to the next level without assessments taking place). Alongside learning the IDTA syllabus children will also participate in other ballet class exercises and activities designed by the Teachers to help build imagination, creativity and social skills.
