Our Vision Nottingham Education was founded in 2017, with the main purpose of providing holistic, nurturing and exceptional education to re-engage learners who are unable to access mainstream education. At Nottingham Education we understand that all our learners have been on a personal journey through education which at times may have been turbulent, leaving them feeling vulnerable and disengaged. Therefore, we work closely with our commissioners, students and parents to ensure flexible, individualised educational intervention where students feel valued and able to succeed. Ultimately, we want our students to reintegrate into suitable long-term education, training or employment. When they move on from Nottingham Education, we want our students to feel a sense of pride and achievement, knowing they are valued and understood. Chris Barson founded Positive About Autism in January 2009. Prior to that Chris was External Training Manager for the National Autistic Society. Chris has a long involvement with disability and autism. After studying drama at the Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff he started out as a drama tutor with Arts for Disabled People in Wales. Chris trained as a learning disabilities Nurse at University Hospital Wales. After qualifying Chris became a Community Nurse for people with learning disabilities. Moving from Community Nursing into a specialist setting, Chris gained experience in intensive support for people who present a severe challenge to services. Chris first joined the National Autistic Society (NAS) in 1996 as a Project Officer in Wales on a Children in Need project reviewing short term care provision. After working with the NAS Regional Development Team promoting service development throughout the UK. Chris went to work at the Royal College of General Practitioners, in 2000, where he managed Professional Development and Quality programmes. Chris rejoined NAS in 2004.Chris has contributed to the design and delivery of courses provided by Canterbury Christ Church University, and University of Cumbria. Chris is a contributing author to ‘The Autism Spectrum in the 21st Century:Exploring Psychology, Biology and Practice’ Jessica Kingsley Press 2010 (Highly Commended 2011 BMA Medical Book Awards)

With strong partnerships in place between the local authorities and additional funders we are proud to create a wide array of opportunities for so many individuals. From Employment and Training to Emotional Health and well-being support, our dedicated team offer their advice and assistance across a number of topics so if you’re unsure as to whether we can help, feel free to get in touch and we can point you in the right direction. The Partnerships activities cover the Nottingham City Council boundaries of Area One, being Bestwood, Bulwell and Bulwell Forest wards and surrounding areas. For those that are not comfortable with the terms Bulwell Forest wards this includes areas also identified as Top Valley, Rise Park and Highbury Vale areas. Our strategic approach and commitment to the wider area increases year on year as a reflection of our hard work and positive impact, These areas may change from time to time depending on contractual funding and newly identified Partnership working. The Bestwood Partnership is a charitable company that is: Community – owned Community -governed Community run For the people of Bestwood, Bulwell, Bulwell Forest and surrounding areas. With funding from Nottingham City Council area based grant (ABG) and the European Social Fund (ESF) we work in partnership with local organisations to support young people and adults. Founded and led by Emma Armstrong, A mother, doula and illustrator from Nottingham. Loosing her mother in 2019 to cancer whilst she was carrying her first child, Emma realised that more support and simplification needed to be given around birth, choices and informed consent. She trained as a Doula with Nurturing Birth & completed her Hypnobirthing training with Best-selling author Sophie Fletcher. The Naked Doula was born and has ever since been on a mission to revolutionise birth. To create evidence based, bite size tips and information for pregnancy, birth and postpartum so that parents can feel confident and informed on their journey! The Naked Doula represents informed choice, transparency and nakedness in the REAL delivery of information. Everyone should have the opportunity to feel excited about their birth, to celebrate it in all it’s glory. As a doula, Emma understands the importance of creating an inclusive community of which YOU can feel comfortable, connect with others & make the best decisions for you, however that may look & feel. Signposting you whilst offering a refreshing approach through fun yet informative illustrations! The Naked Doula loves to share easy ways for birth to be understood, as well as presenting solutions to every problem, capable of changing the way you see birth and making your journey a unique experience! Gayle founded Mindproof Ltd after working with adults and young people aged 16+ in mental health for over 10 years, predominantly within NHS services. During her time with the NHS, Gayle has helped many clients overcome a wide variety of common mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, OCD, phobias and trauma and specialises in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) as well as EMDR therapy. Gayle is a fully accredited member of the industry’s governing body, the BABCP, which is regarded as the highest ‘gold’ standard a CBT psychotherapist can achieve. Gayle has written several research papers on topics such as burnout and engagement within the workplace and the use of CBT for the prevention of depression, for which she was presented an award from the University of Oxford. Gayle holds a full CBT Diploma and graduated with distinction from the world renowned University of Oxford’s Cognitive Therapy Centre (OCTC). Gayle also has a first class Masters degree in Psychology and has achieved further distinction in postgraduate studies of Psychological Therapies (PG Cert) and has trained to the highest level (Level 3) in EMDR therapy. Gayle has a wealth of experience working both within clinical and non-clinical environments and has run numerous training and workshop sessions for corporates, universities and public sector organisations. Our Vision The Curriculum Department of Thabyay works for a future with: A society offering relevant and equal educational opportunities for all Active citizens with appropriate knowledge and skills to participate in the peaceful development of their communities and society Educasia’s Mission Educasia supports the development of post-secondary and adult education initiatives in Myanmar. Its focus is on non-formal groups working for positive social change and development. Thabyay’s Curriculum Department prepares and distributes contest-appropriate curricular materials and teacher training. It focuses on preparing adult learners from marginalized communities in Myanmar for effective participation in developing their communities, and for further education. The Curriculum Department currently operates two programs: Educasia works to support the development of non-government post-secondary and adult education initiatives in Myanmar. Educasia’s objectives include: Enabling students in post-secondary and adult education to develop the skills and knowledge required to participate effectively in the development of their communities, and pursue meaningful further education. Building the capacity of teachers in low-resource post-secondary and adult education to develop student-centered teaching skills and create active analytical learning environments. Supporting post-secondary and adult education programs, in both formal and informal settings, to develop and implement effective context-appropriate curricula and syllabi which prepare learners to participate effectively in the development of their communities, and pursue meaningful further education. The Curriculum Project’s objectives are broadly similar to Educasia, except that the program works with Myanmar populations (refugees, exiles, and migrants) based along Myanmar’s borders.
