The arts can help foster a sense of self and identity and create space for expression, reminiscence and learning. Creativity can help foster connections in new and varied ways, making it a powerful tool in dementia care, and in creating and sustaining relationships. Symptoms of dementia often result in progressive changes to cognition, memory or ability for individuals. These symptoms may mean a change of communication needs for both those living with dementia and those who support them. There is a lack of accessible creative resources available to people living with dementia and we want to change this. We aim to provide access to effective creative arts activities that build connection, identity, confidence, and joy. We have experienced the magical moments that occur when people are enabled to express themselves creatively, and we want to empower you to make magical moments of your own.

New Life on the Old West will deliver wildlife habitat enhancements in green spaces and surrounding countryside within areas close to the Old West River in the Cambridgeshire Fens. The project will create a series of small-scale habitat improvements – ponds, scrapes and wildflower meadows – in the arable landscape, the extensive ditch network and community green spaces. Together, these improvements will create a more resilient landscape in the Cambridgeshire Fens; connecting dispersed species and habitats, while creating demonstration sites for others to learn from. The project will help ensure that a wider range of people can access and enjoy the local fenland countryside. Through a diverse series of events and a dynamic volunteering programme, we’re building a stronger connection between people’s green space assets and the biodiversity on their doorstep. The three-year programme has been developed by Cambridgeshire ACRE, working closely with over 50 local and regional organisations, specialists, and community groups. Our National Military Survivor Seminar and Good Grief Camp has been held annually in Washington, D.C., over Memorial Day weekend since 1994. That was an average of 25 new survivors - every day. TAPS provides an array of programs, comfort, and resources for the families of the fallen. TAPS held over 930 events that welcomed and supported more than 15,000 participants. We answered over 15,700 calls, resolved over 6,459 casework challenges and connected military survivors with over $241 million dollars in education benefits. We shared our experience and expertise, conducting nearly 71 training sessions on grief, trauma, and suicide postvention nationwide and worldwide reaching over 8,300 individuals.
