Kinship carers are people raising relatives or friends’ children who would otherwise need to enter the care system. Since Special Guardianship Orders were introduced in 2005, Local Authorities have increasingly chosen to place children with friends and family as an alternative to adoption and long term fostering. Kinship care has now become the main route out of care for children in England, overtaking adoption. There are approximately 200,000 kinship families in the UK, though the actual number is likely to be much higher. Despite the growing number of officially recognized kinship families, this has not gone hand in hand with increased levels of support. Kinship carers are expected to parent traumatized children with little or no preparation or support, and often have no access to the services that are normally available to foster carers and adopters. Recent data indicates that Covid-19 has disproportionately affected kinship carers; most have been unable to shield, even when vulnerable, and they have not been prioritized in vaccination and other support programs.

Connectforce Community CIC is a social enterprise building connection, creativity & confidence within marginalised communities through collaboration with our network of artists. Why artists? Artists and performers are trained communicators, brimming with empathy and openness, and Connectforce is passionate about providing an accessible outlet for these skills to have a positive impact on wider society. With a network of over 100 artists, we work with communities to build programmes that best suit their needs. Through one-on-ones, mentoring and group workshops, we bring together artists with people of all ages who would benefit from support. Our story Connectforce was established in May 2020 as a COVID-19 emergency response, seeking to combat the isolation and growing disconnect for UK care home residents. Initially set out to provide the means with which these residents could communicate with their loved ones: donating electronic devices to over 165 of the most critically in-need care homes across the country. Since then, the national and global situation has developed, and Connectforce has grown and adapted; recognising the importance of going much further than the donation of physical resources to get to the root of the profound problem of social isolation within the communities that we work in.

Aya Aromas was founded in 2020 in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. We (Georgette & Sophinne) are sisters who both share an obsessive love for ethical home scents that are reminiscent of good times. We developed our scent range around childhood memories growing up in the UK and through family trips around Europe and Ghana. Aya is an Adinkra symbol in Ghana meaning resourcefulness and endurance represented as a fern and was used as a symbol of hope throughout the pandemic. The fern artwork in our packaging represents the Adinkra symbol and our commitment to being an eco-friendly brand. We are 100% environmentally friendly, vegan and sustainable and with our rebrand decided to plant a tree with every order as we believe climate action is everyone's responsibility. Each of our products have been designed to transform spaces and fill them with colour and character through the art of scent. We have been recommended by numerous major publications such as; Harper's Bazaar, The Times, Cosmopolitan, Stylist, House Beautiful and HSBC along with many others. Our Aya community has grown significantly in our first two years with customers from countries all across the globe including the USA, Switzerland and Saudi Arabia.

Tecnis Academy began out of my interest in teaching children and supporting them to develop their confidence in their academic work. Tecnis Academy started as a one person team with me visiting students, homes to provide 1-1 tuition, this often involved driving from one house to the other with my then baby daughter (Now 9 years old) strapped on my back. At one point, I was visiting 20 homes in a week. In 2016, I made a decision to invite all my students to a small office space that I rented. 18 out of the 20 students followed me to the small office at the time. We grew from a small office to 4 centres across Kent after which the COVID pandemic hit. Tecnis Academy moved all tuition services to virtual tuition during the pandemic and we have not looked back since then. Tecnis Academy now helps to improve learning for over 2000 students across 10 countries and we work hard to improve the quality of our students’ learning experience every day. We provide regular free webinars and Live Talks offering Parents advice on the UK Educational System and Processes as well as free tips and tricks to help our students become high achievers in their academics.

About We believe the future needs people-centred designers to make the world a better place. A brief history of Design Club 2021 2020 2019 2018 2017 2022 Slow start to the year after a pre-Christmas rise in Covid cases. With heavy (but hopeful) hearts, we made the decision to shift focus. Our new strategy is to create a curated directory of design tools for kids - products, projects and programmes that get kids doing design and design thinking. 2021 We're rebooting! Looking for Reboot Supporters to fund 2021/2022 activity. We've learned a lot from our first remote after school Design Club. And partnered with Multiverse and Future to reach new audiences, online and IRL. 2020 We started the year with new after school clubs in Coventry, Haslemere and Woking, and exciting plans for weekend clubs, but we had to hit pause due to Covid. We experimented with online delivery and invited parents to run design projects at home. Bright spots: Elsewhen ran a remote club and we got a bit of funding from Grant for the Web (which enabled us to think about how to reboot Design Club. 2019 We supported mentors to run 15 after school clubs, including the first Design Clubs outside London, in Blackpool and Dundee. You can Meet the mentors on our blog. Our weekend squad ran pop-up clubs at Science Museum, Kingston University and MozFest. Reached 500 children and had more than 800 people register an interest in mentoring. Started hosting peer-led Meetups and recognised our Super Mentors. Won funding from The Funding Network. And Growth Supporters helped us grow. 2018 We set up as a Community Interest Company in April. We're limited by guarantee, meaning all profits go back into growing Design Club. Founding supporters came on board. Reached more than 500 children through a mix of after school and weekend clubs. Ran our first mentor Meetups and got accepted as one of Makerversity's Makers with a Mission. Partnered with BMJ, WIRED and Token Dad to try new formats. 2017 We piloted our first after school Design Club. Reached over 150 children through a network of 50 volunteers. Partnered with Marvel and Moo to develop the learning experience. Partnered with CoderDojo and iOi to deliver weekend Design Clubs. Partnered with British Council to deliver Design Thinking mentor training. How Design Club is free We're a Community Interest Company limited by Guarantee This means we're a non-profit. We've raised some money through grants from The Funding Network, Mozilla and Grant for the Web. We're also backed by the design industry to inspire the next generation of design thinking. Since the 1920s, Morley Exhibitions has been supporting the creative development of Morley’s students and providing cultural engagement across all centres and subjects. Based across nine display spaces at the Waterloo, Chelsea and North Kensington Centres, Morley Exhibitions maintains a regular programme to showcase the talents of the student and staff community. Morley College London is home to artists working across all art forms and at all stages of their careers: students, emerging and established. Our exhibitions programme presents new ideas and different perspectives in ways that are inclusive, innovative and inspiring. Most prominent of our exhibition spaces is Morley Gallery, a two story state-of-the-art art gallery in a converted pub at the Waterloo Centre. Opened in 1969, it is currently in the last stages of a major refurbishment and will reopen in Spring 2021. We’re excited to announce a new programme of shows in the new year. Morley Exhibitions also maintains our important permanent collection of artworks on display around the college buildings. This including murals by Edward Bawden and large installation paintings by Martin Froy, John Piper and Bridget Riley. Also on show are portraits of Morley’s principals painted by Maggi Hambling, a highly valued member of our teaching staff since the 1970s. Urbed (Urbanism, Environment and Design) Ltd to close-Urbed Trust unaffected It is with great sadness that we announce that our partner organisation Urbed (Urbanism, Environment and Design) Ltd will close early in 2023. The employee-owned cooperative finds itself with no option, following the completion of several projects and operating in an incredibly difficult post COVID environment, particularly with public sector tendering. Urbed (Urbanism, Environment and Design) Ltd formed in 2006, and grew out of the original Urbed (Urban and Economic Development) Ltd from 1976. It is one of the last surviving members of a group of consultancies that pioneered the process of urban regeneration in the 1970s and 80s. Since that time Urbed have undertaken ground-breaking work on the reuse of industrial heritage, managed workspace, town centres, sustainable urbanism, domestic retrofit, urban design and coding. Their closure will not affect ourselves at the Urbed Trust. We are a separate not for profit company run by Urbed’s 1976 original founding director Dr Nicholas Falk. We will continue our work on smarter urbanisation and sustainable housing in both the UK and India. Who are the URBED Trust? The URBED Trust is a not for profit company with charitable aims set up to promote research into the future of urban areas, and to disseminate best practice. The trust was reconstituted after Nicholas Falk and David Rudlin won the 2014 Wolfson Economics Prize for showing how to build new Garden Cities that are visionary, viable and popular. A group of expert board members are overseeing different projects, in partnership with other public bodies.
