Greenwich Peninsula

CLOD ENSEMBLE create provocative, finely crafted performance and participation projects driven by movement and music. For over 25 years, director Suzy Willson and composer Paul Clark have developed a highly original performance language, in collaboration with dancers, actors, musicians, medics, architects and orchestras. Our core team work from our studios in the Design District on Greenwich Peninsula, and we work with a wide range of freelance artists on each project. Each production has a unique visual identity and distinctive musical score. Highlights include Silver Swan, featuring a choir of seven unaccompanied singers; Under Glass, where performers are contained within glass cases, from a jam jar to a test tube; An Anatomie in Four Quarters in which the audience cut a path through the auditorium of a large theatre and Red Ladies, a chorus of identically dressed women who transform, celebrate and interrupt the familiar streets of a city. Our work is presented in London, across the UK and internationally in theatres, dance houses, galleries and public spaces including Sadler’s Wells, Tate Modern, The Lowry, Wales Millennium Centre, Serralves Museum Porto and Public Theater New York. Our approach to performance making embraces difference and ambiguity, allowing us to work with complex ideas in complex systems. Each of our projects upholds movement, music and visual languages as vital ways of knowing, learning, and communicating. We offer a wide-reaching programme of education and participation projects in schools, higher education institutions and NHS Trusts. These different areas of our work overlap, creating fertile ground for dialogue, debate and collaboration. We offer a rich programme of Talent Development, developing the next generation of music, dance and interdisciplinary artists. Through learning programmes we inspire young people through music and movement in formal education settings and beyond. Performing Medicine is our award-winning, sector-leading initiative, primarily focused on the education and wellbeing of healthcare workers – developing their skills through creative practice so they can build healthier, respectful, caring, creative communities.

Barking

BARKING ABBEY SCHOOL IS A VERY LARGE SCHOOL ON TWO CAMPUSES IN EAST LONDON THAT SERVES THE BOROUGHS OF BARKING & DAGENHAM AND REDBRIDGE. We are a non-selective, comprehensive twelve form entry school with a proud tradition of academic and sporting success. The school is very popular in the local community for both Year 7 and sixth form admissions and is heavily oversubscribed. Barking Abbey School was founded in 1922 as one of the first co-educational grammar schools in England at the site in Longbridge Road. At the time, it was situated in a largely rural area, with fields and farmland close by. Gradually, as Barking began to expand as a residential centre, the school became the focal point for the community with an educational provision of national standing. In 1970, Barking Abbey Grammar School was merged with Park Modern School to form the Barking Abbey School we know today. Many traditions of the old schools remain, but with important developments to enable the school and its pupils to be fully prepared to meet the challenges and opportunities of life in the twenty-first century. One thing remains central, however: we are an outstanding success. Barking Abbey school has a very large Sixth Form with approximately 450 students. As a result of this we are able to offer a large range of courses to our 16-19 year olds. We are proud of the fact that we are a multi-cultural community and we seek to celebrate our diversity in as many ways as possible. Tolerance of, respect for, and understanding of others are vital aspects of preparing young people for adult life. We want all of our pupils to Belong, Aspire, Succeed.

Films Without Borders

London

Films Without Borders (FWB) is a non-political UK registered charity that provides hands-on educational filmmaking workshops for youth between the ages of 15 – 19, living in challenging countries around the globe. FWB’s intention is to break down barriers, build bridges, and create a dialogue whilst simultaneously teaching youth the first stages of film production.. Since our launch in 2010 we have run more than 20 successful workshops in countries which include Israel, Rwanda, South Africa, Palestine, and most recently in aboriginal communities in Australia, enabling us to access over 300 young people living at risk. Our FWB participants subsequently made a series of high quality short films, which have been screened at prestigious international film festivals, including the Cannes International Film Festival. We are delighted that our films were screened during royal visits in Australia and South Africa, where they were shown in the presence of President Zuma and the Earl and Countess of Wessex. The films have also been shown on various networks around the world. In 2013 FWB won the Brit Week Innovation in Philanthropy Award in Los Angeles. In 2014 FWB arranged paid work experience at the Jerusalem Cinemathèque/Film Festival for a Palestinian FWB participant. She continues to work for the organization on a paid freelance basis. In 2015 we are delighted to announce that Lionsgate UK has supported three internships, one with a casting director and two on a major feature film. The interns are from Israel, Rwanda and a South African township. This has resulted in the Israeli intern working on a paid freelance basis for the casting director. The South African intern has been moved out of the township and placed into a job created by S-ABC in South Africa. This has all been initiated and financially supported by FWB. We are currently looking at supporting a Masters in film for the Rwandan participant. We share an independent partnership with the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, whereby we incorporate award participants into FWB’s global workshops. Our other major partners include Swarovski, Lionsgate UK, Swiss International Airlines, Twickenham Studios, Deluxe Post Production/Encore, The Editpool. FWB enjoys the invaluable hand on support of George Lucas, Whoopi Goldberg, Mike Newell and Sam Mendes, to name but a few. We are very proud to have Nadja Swarovski as our Patron. Cavendish Learning

cavendish learning

London

Cavendish Education is a family of independent co-educational day and boarding schools and colleges for students between the ages of five and 21. As a group, we are transforming the common perception of specialist education and throughout our schools, we challenge what it means to be neurodiverse by supporting our students to excel in ways they never thought possible. We believe we are unparalleled in our approach, which sits between mainstream and traditional special school education. Our curriculum supports and nurtures students with a diagnosis of autism and associated communication and language needs, as well as those with specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, dyspraxia and dyscalculia. Seeing potential in every student The ability to think differently is celebrated and encouraged at our schools and colleges. Seeing extraordinary ability in every single one of our students, we unlock and nurture their potential. The holistic and differentiated academic curriculums in our schools and colleges are designed to ignite the imaginations of students with unique learning profiles and nurture their innate talents and abilities. A range of enrichment activities, such as sport, technology, the arts, outdoor education and life skills, further enables our students to grow. In the ethos of Cavendish Education, each of our schools and colleges has developed its own character, facilities, and strengths. Together, our schools and staff are committed to allowing every student to shine while they are with us and to achieve success in education or employment when they leave us. We are very proud of all our students and their many achievements. They show that with the right support, those who think differently can make vital contributions to our world while leading happy and successful lives. History Our founder, Aatif Hassan, was inspired by his own life experiences to establish Cavendish Education. Having been through the education system with dyslexia, he understands the need to give those who are neurologically diverse the tools to create successful and meaningful lives. Aatif himself went on to achieve a successful career, both in business and as an officer in the Army before founding Cavendish Education in 2013. Cavendish Education is driven by Aatif ‘s dedication to nurturing those young people who think differently, enabling them to lead happy and productive lives. It is his desire to change the perception of what it means to be neurologically diverse through the achievements of Cavendish Education’s students and the quality of its curriculums.

Prendergast School

prendergast school

London,

Welcome to Prendergast School. It is an honour and a privilege to be Prendergast School’s eleventh Headteacher and to work with staff, students and families. Staff here are passionate about ensuring the very best opportunities and education for all students. Our motto and ethos is ‘Truth, Honour, Freedom and Courtesy.’ We are all on the same side, working to support all students to excel. We take pride in building strong relationships with students and their families. We have a long history of providing exceptional education to young people. We were founded in 1880 as Prendergast Grammar School for Girls on a site in Catford provided by the Leathersellers’ Company, which then funded the school’s move to its current site in 1995. We are now part of the Leathersellers’ Federation of schools, a group of three secondary and two primary schools as well as Prendergast 6th Form. We are very fortunate to be part of the Federation and receive a lot of support from the Leathersellers’ Company, that helps our students succeed. We are very proud of our last Ofsted judgement of Outstanding in all areas, our third Outstanding judgement in a row. We are described in the most recent report as ‘exceptional’ and having ‘exemplary attitudes to learning’ across the school. We do achieve great academic results at Prendergast School (more information is on the website). However, as a parent or carer you also want to know that your child is happy and safe. This is very important to us and we pride ourselves that students feel confident in school and thrive under our care. It is important that when students leave after their time with us that they do so as well-rounded individuals who have had many different experiences, able to overcome challenges and most importantly to learn from their mistakes. It is important that students get involved in school life as much as possible. We have a wide range of extra-curricular activities and we do encourage all students to get involved. We expect all students to attend school journeys. Communication is very important to us. We always like to know what we do well and what we can improve on further. We ask students and families to get in contact with us if there is something that they would like to ask or raise with us.
