That was the time I decided to start the journey of forgiveness and i totally refused to let those circumstances hold me back from achieving my dreams. Beloved, I assure you that through forgiveness or letting go of the past as some people may put it, you will find a sense of worth and purpose, a urge to refocus, clarity to achieve your dreams and be of service to whoever crosses your path. As much as the past enables us to shape our future, we should not let our past experiences keep dragging us back. The Blue and Green Badge is recognised internationally as the qualification of excellence in site and heritage interpretation, and in communication skills. It is awarded only following extensive training and vigorous examination. The Guild is run by an Executive Council, elected by the membership, and salaried office staff, and provides support and advice to its members on both policy and all issues covering guide services, sites, coach operators and health & safety. The members are kept up-to-date with weekly e-bulletins and regular newsletters packed with informative articles and updates on guiding-related issues; monthly diaries listing major events, opening times and admission prices; access to an extensive Continuing Professional Development programme. Guild members are covered under public liability insurance, which provides annual cover up to £5million. A copy of the policy is kept at Guild House and the office staff can assist with any enquiries you have as to extent of cover, which includes cover whilst on tour anywhere in the world. The School is accredited by the New York City and the New York State Board of Education. INCEPTION AND GROWTH On the orders of Ayatollah al-Khoei, Al-Iman School in New York opened its doors to four children in September 1990; with that it started an evolutionary process that, within four years, resulted in the first fully fledged Pre K-12 Islamic school in North America. The growth from Kindergarten to Grade School to Junior High to High School can only be described as phenomenal. Every year, between 1990-1994 several grades were added simultaneously as applications poured in, pregnant mothers registered their children and waiting lists grew by the day. In September 1994, Al-Iman School added the high school component and in 1998 the first class of seniors – a historic moment – graduated to go to various reputable universities and colleges such as Stony Brook, St John’s, Columbia, New York University, Baruch etc. in the country. My work invites meditation upon nature and its relationship with colour, light and movement. As I draw or paint, I gradually unravel the underlying qualities of balance and harmony within my subject matter. What interests me most is observing the formation of line and pattern: from the blades of grasses to a bird’s feather; from the shifting of clouds to the beat of my heart; from the maps of stars in heaven to the trunk of an old oak tree. I continuously strive to reveal beauty and elegance within the natural rhythm of life and look to my art as a place of well-being, empowerment and inner peace. The materials I love to use are water-based pigments, powders, and Japanese black ink. These are natural and organic and are deeply connected to earth and nature. They afford a rich palette of hues and allow for both extreme precision and flow of movement. I am captivated by the way they blend together and create a whole that is more than its' individual parts. Occasionally, I also add hints of gold and silver, as these reflect light differently at each hour of the day, changing the glow of the work from within. The materials I use embrace that moment, echoing their mark on the paper or canvas, and becoming eternal for a short while. I hope that others understand my work with their hearts and emotions; that they are touched and moved by it, and that it evokes a sense of balance, hope, and joy.
