Oxfordshire Chinese Brush Painting Group (OCBPG) was set up about 6 years ago by a group of enthusiasts who wanted to learn more about this fascinating art form, and practise their developing skills together. The aim of the group is to promote Chinese Brush Painting in all its’ forms. We do this by meeting regularly, holding workshops, talks and visits and organising exhibitions of members’ work. In addition, we organise a programme of day workshops from experienced Chinese Brush Painting tutors throughout the year. In 2018 and 2019, we held one day Workshops, including one with the international artist, Qu Leilei, one of the original members of the Stars Art Movement in China in the 1970’s and 80’s. In 2018, we began exhibiting our work and have several exhibitions planned in the future. We hold regular monthly meetings on the fourth Thursday of the month from 1pm to 4pm in the excellent facilities of Stanton Harcourt Village Hall. Here, you can get support from friendly like-minded people, borrow books from our excellent Library, and, we are beginning to stock some basic Chinese Art Supplies for members to buy at cost. We are a warm and welcoming community and you are more than welcome to contact us if you would like to try out this beautiful art form, or if you are a more experienced painter and want to share your skills and learning with others

Alongside providing professional computer recycling services, including free computer collection and secure data destruction, we also deliver free accredited training programmes for people not in employment, education or training. What we do Working under supervision and as part of a team, our trainees learn how to refurbish donated machines which are then sold at affordable prices, to fund the program. As an organisation we are committed to bridging the digital divide in our area so a percentage of our refurbished computers are donated through our community partners to ensure they reach people in need. Why support us By donating your unwanted machines, not only will you be stopping them from going to landfill but you will be providing meaningful training and employment opportunities for people with learning difficulties and SEMH (social, emotional, and mental health) needs. What we need Working desktops, laptops and tablets up to 8 years old. We don’t collect WEEE waste as everything is reusable. If “WEEE” is to be re-used, then it never becomes a waste and can be classified as used electrical and electronic equipment (UEEE). Therefore, UK waste laws do not apply. Secure Data Destruction Data destruction takes place at our secured London premises. We issue certification giving you complete peace of mind that your data has been irretrievably erased.

Octavia Raheem is a wife, mother, author of two books Pause, Rest, Be and Gather, rest coach, chief executive daydreaming officer, and yoga educator. She founded Devoted to Rest + Starshine & Clay Online Yoga and Meditation Studio for Black Women and Women of Color. Within her rest and work she threads poetry, prayer, and time tested practices into a blanket of experience under which individuals can gather and rebuke stress, fatigue, and burnout. The foundation of Octavia’s rest work is Black Church (rooted in the South USA), restorative yoga, Yoga Nidra, and meditation. Her deepest offerings lead driven, ambitious, visionary, and highly impactful women to awaken the fullness of their wisdom, power, and clarity through rest. Octavia has over 20 years of experience and well over 10,000 hours of designing and delivering classes, restshops, workshops, immersions, and trainings that transform, heal, and restore individuals and organizations. In 2021 Yoga Journal magazine recognized Octavia as one of fifteen experienced yoga professionals who have elevated and changed the field on a global scale. Closer to home and as a beacon in her local community, she was named one of four luminaries who have lit the way and created new avenues to yoga in Atlanta, Georgia, and the Southeast in September 2019 by Natural Awakening Magazine. Cobra Foundation is an independent charity, founded in 2005 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the establishment of Cobra Beer Ltd. Registered in the United Kingdom, our mission is to provide health, education and community support for young people in South Asia, especially through the provision of safe water. Our charitable objectives include giving help with Disaster Relief in the Region. The Foundation has supported more than 200 charities and good causes, either with financial grants or the provision of complimentary Cobra beer for fundraising events. There were generous responses to our appeals for funds for relief from Cyclone Sidr in Bangladesh in 2007; the Bihar floods in India in 2008, the widespread floods in Pakistan in 2010, the earthquakes in Nepal in 2017 and the cyclone in Tamil Nadu, India in 2018. It is certain that natural or man-made disasters will strike in the future and we will again play our part. The logo of Cobra Foundation is a mother elephant with her offspring and it reminds us never to forget those in need.

Woodwork and design have been lifelong interests of mine. My introduction to woodwork was with my father in his workshop at home. I studied woodwork, together with metalwork with Ted Mills in Maidstone and had regular lessons from Chris Hoad our local village carpenter in Marden, Kent. Woodwork runs in the family, I inherited my great grandfather’s tools and the workbench – a number of which which I use. I draw inspiration from many sources: the Design Museum is a particular favourite, but skilled work is all around. Recently I took part in a ‘Build a Tiny House’ course at the Centre for Alternative Technology. Their commitment to sustainable living is particularly important for me.I attend courses, exhibitions and trade shows regularly to keep up with the latest trends and developments. I established WoodWorks in September 2016. Our approach is practical, and we put our clients’ priorities first – be they design, practicalilty, affordability, aesthetic or sustainability. Wood is a wonderful material, flexible, strong and incredibly versatile. Most things are possible. If you’ve got a project in mind and want to find out whether and how it will work, I’d be happy to talk it over with you. In September 2020 I established Woodworks Learn, the teaching arm of the business. This was long an ambition of mine, using my background in teaching, coaching and informal community learning. I find immense pleasure helping people to develop their skills and to complete projects.
