If you did not have a pass last year but wish to have one this year (and you live more than 1.5 miles away from your campus and are studying a substantial course), please see the Bursary team in Programme Management to apply. You will be able to travel on the buses without your pass until you have been given your new ID card during your first week. If it is your first year, you will be issued your FREE Warrington’s Own Buses bus pass at enrolment. The bus pass will be printed as a QR code on your College ID card. Your College ID card is also your bus pass, so you must keep it safe and you will need it with you to access Warrington’s Own Buses services by scanning it on the bus. If for any reason at enrolment you do not get a pass on your ID card and you wanted one and are eligible, please see the Bursary/Bus Pass team in Programme Management. Compost Works is a Liverpool-based social enterprise with the mission of diverting food waste from incineration and landfill. We set up communal composting facilities and run educational activities to do with composting awareness. We want to inspire people in the Liverpool City Region to compost their food waste. Our premise is that food waste is not rubbish! It shouldn’t go into a landfill or be incinerated, which are not environmentally sound waste disposal practices. Composting is a natural process where food waste breaks down through the activity of microscopic organisms and larger soil creatures, such as worms. This builds soil life and makes nutrients available to plants. Since 2019, we have set up a number of composting facilities in communities and for local business across Liverpool City Region. Compost produced from these sites is used for local growing projects and to enhance community green spaces. Cheshire Woodworking was established in 2012 by Ciarán Ó Braonáin, a furniture designer and woodwork teacher from Dublin, Ireland. Ciarán’s passion for hand-crafted woodwork has inspired beautiful pieces for shooting, home and hospitality for clients across Cheshire and the UK. From his workshop on the Sandstone Trail in rural Cheshire, Ciarán specialises in combining hand-crafted techniques with new, precision technology thanks to the EU LEADER Fund investment. Seeking out the finest raw materials, including high-grade woods, feathers and leathers, he works closely with clients to understand their ideas and uses his expertise to create unique pieces tailor-made to their requirements. Ciaran's expertise was recently called upon by the BBC for their latest hit television series, Jay's Yorkshire Workshop. The show, on BBC2, involved Ciaran and two other experts, along with their two apprentices, designing and creating bespoke wooden gifts for individuals or organisations nominated for their acts of kindness in the community.
