<p>Your expert course instructor has over 40 years of experience in the Oil &amp; Gas industry. During that time, he has worked exclusively in well intervention and completions. After a number of years working for intervention service companies (completions, slickline &amp; workovers), he joined Shell as a well service supervisor. He was responsible for the day-to-day supervision of all well intervention work on Shell's Persian/Arabian Gulf platforms. This included completion running, coil tubing, e-line, slickline, hydraulic workovers, well testing and stimulation operations. An office-based role as a senior well engineer followed.</p>
<p>He was responsible for planning, programming and organising of all the well engineering and intervention work on a number of fields in the Middle East. He had a brief spell as a Site Representative for Santos in Australia before joining Petro-Canada as Completions Superintendent in Syria, then moved to Australia as Completions Operations Superintendent for Santos, before returning to Shell as Field Supervisor Completions and Well Interventions in Iraq where he carried out the first ever formal abandonment of a well in the Majnoon Field.</p>
<p>While working on rotation, he regularly taught Completion Practices, Well Intervention, Well Integrity and Reporting &amp; Planning courses all over the world. In 2014, he started to focus 100% on training and became the Technical Director for PetroEDGE. Since commencing delivering training courses in 2008, he has taught over 300 courses in 31 cities in 16 countries to in excess of 3,500 participants.</p>

He has worked across five continents, in a wide variety of environments from the world's largest oil refinery to a small drinks production line. He has 10 years of maintenance management experience in the process industry, so he brings a very practical approach to training. He moved into consulting with ABB Eutech as their global maintenance specialist where he led maintenance and reliability best practice panels, delivered a wide range of maintenance improvement projects and trained other consultants. <strong>He is</strong> <strong>a fully qualified CMRP professional, an approved SMRP* Proctor, authorised to conduct CMRP exams and a globally respected maintenance consultant and best practice trainer.</strong></p>
<p>He founded his consultancy and training business in 2002 to focus on maintenance and reliability improvement. As part of this, he developed a range of maintenance 'models of excellence' with inputs from authors, international lecturers and some of the world's leading consultants and operators. His work has been recognised as being at the leading edge of industry best practice, winning independent awards such as the UK Chemical Industries Association 'Excellence in Engineering' award.</p>
<p>He remains close to the industry as a respected specialist helping operating companies to achieve changes in performance. This ongoing field work enables him to continue to refine and extend best practice and the learning from this is continually fed into his training.</p>
<p>His unique experience of facilitating two major turnarounds when the Coronavirus escalated into lockdown have given him a unique insight into how events of this type can disrupt maintenance. Moreover, his involvement in developing management processes and leading a Coronavirus response on a major industrial asset means he can talk with direct experience about how to cope and innovate in this global pandemic.</p>

<p>Your expert course leader has over 35 years' work-experience in multiphase flow, artificial lift, real-time production optimization and software development/management. His current work is focused on a variety of use cases like failure prediction, virtual flow rate determination, wellhead integrity surveillance, corrosion, equipment maintenance, DTS/DAS interpretation. He has worked for national oil companies, majors, independents, and service providers globally. He has multiple patents and has delivered a multitude of industry presentations. Twice selected as an SPE distinguished lecturer, he also volunteers on SPE committees. He holds a Bachelor's and Master's in chemical engineering from the Gujarat University and IIT-Kanpur, India; and a Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Tulsa, USA.</p>

He has a strong focus on people with an emphasis on developing people and the practicalities of improving maintenance performance rather than just the theory.</p>
<p>He has worked internationally across Europe, America, the Middle East and Africa with extensive experience in Oil and Gas, the Chemicals sector and manufacturing as well as working with clients in Steel and Power Generation. As a result, he can bring best practice from a wide variety of sources.</p>
<p>He spent the first fifteen years of his career as a specialist trainer working for companies such as Lloyds British Training Services and Rolls Royce. He then went on to work as a Principal consultant for ABB consulting for 15 years. During this time, he refined some of the established improvement tools including how and when to apply them for maximum impact whilst still continuing to develop and deliver training in support of this. Recent work has included improvements to the Work Order to Work Execution processes of Engineering departments and focused on Reliability, Planning and Scheduling. This ongoing field experience has helped him test and refine specialist training in a number of areas.</p>
<p>He has been able to use his own experience to contribute with other maintenance specialists to the Carcharodon models of excellence. Its methodologies are recognised as 'Best of the Best' standards providing the inspiration for two books, projects that have won awards such as the prodigious UK Chemical Industries annual Excellence in Engineering award and form the basis of this training.</p>

How do I attend?

EITHER -
CLASSROOM OPTION - Attend one of our scheduled classroom locations, completing your Introduction to Phlebotomy Course over 2 days. You will also complete your Advanced Training at the end of the first day and your Competency Training at the end of the second day.

Our Introduction to Phlebotomy and Advanced Phlebotomy Training Kits are supplied at no charge when booking our virtual classroom training option.
If you would like to add one or both of these kits to your classroom training option then these are available to add at time of booking. Our comprehensive training kits each mirror the same equipment and supplies used in the classroom and both include detailed video tutorials, allowing you to continue to practice and "hone" your skills after you have completed your practical training.

OR -

VIRTUAL CLASSROOM OPTION- Complete your theory training online at home or work, then join us for a one day Zoom session to complete your Introduction to Phlebotomy virtual classroom training, followed by your Advanced Training in the evening of the same day. You have the option to add a classroom-based competency session, awarding a CPD Accredited Geopace Certificate of Competency, at time of booking.

Our Virtual Classroom option includes two very comprehensive training kits - one for your introductory course and one for your advanced course. Kits are included at no charge (normally £79.95 each) and are yours to keep and to continue to practice with after you have finished your courses. The equipment and supplies included in your kits are the same as those used if you choose the classroom option.

Our Route to Competency Masterclass - Live Blood Sessions can only be completed in a classroom environment. This is included when you book a classroom option. When booking the virtual classroom option you can choose to add this at time of booking. You will receive a voucher code to enable you to book onto any upcoming dates or locations. For most of our two day course we run our competency training at the end of the second day and therefore you should be able to complete your full training programme with us over two days.

Definitions - understanding terminology relating to PIVC.
IV Therapy and NMC guidelines.
M2 - Legal & Professional Responsibilities:
Legal Obligations and Accountability. Criminal, Civil and
Contractual law in Healthcare. Vicarious Liability and your
Duty of Care.
M3 - Anatomy & Physiology:
Sites appropriate to IV cannulation. Hand vs. arm.
Advantages and disadvantages of relevant veins.
An overview of Homeostasis and Fluid Balance.
M4 - Hygiene and Infection Prevention & Control (IPC):
Reducing healthcare-associated infections. Keeping Safe.
Bloodborne Pathogens and Work Practice Controls.
Standard Precautions. Waste Disposal. Needle-stick injuries.
M5 - Indications and Advantages:
When to cannulate, infusion types and benefits over
alternative infusion routes. Continuous and intermittent infusion.
Prophylactic use before procedures and in unstable patients.
Contraindications.
M6 - Equipment:
Cannula types, sizes and colour coding. How to select
appropriate size. Equipment overview for total procedure.
M7 - Vein Choice for Cannulation:
Correct vein selection. Which veins to avoid.
How to manage an unsuccessful cannulation.
M8 - Procedures:
Full procedure for cannulation including correct documentation.
M8: Guide to Cannulation - revision

When inappropriate to cannulate including patients with specific health conditions.

A detailed look at potential complications during and after

Virtual Classroom - audio/visual checks and registration.
2 - Legal & Professional Responsibilities:
Overview and discussion.
3 - Anatomy - key points (appropriate to PIVC):
Arteries and veins. Selecting an approprate site. Sites to avoid and “first choice” sites.
4 - Cannulae - selection and types:
A detailed look at different types of cannulas, respective benefits and attributes. Selectinng an appropriate pVAD.
5 - Complications:
Complications of pVAD insertion including examples of
infiltration, haematoma, extravasation and transfixation.
6 - VIP Score:
Understanding and using the Visual Infusion Phlebitis score.
7 - Equipment - overview:
We take a look at all essential equipment required for PIVC.
8 - PRACTICAL SESSIONS:
Multiple practical sessions throughout the session.
9 - Fluids:
The importance of understanding fluids. Includes detailed overview of: maintenance fluids, Hartmann’s solution, Colloids (and risks), blood products.
10 - Infusion Rates:
Calculating infusion rates and drops per minute.

Our Peripheral IV Cannulation Course and Injection Course training kits are supplied at no charge when booking our virtual classroom training option.
If you would like to add one or both of these kits to your classroom training option then these are available for you to add at time of booking. Training kits mirror the same equipment and supplies used in the classroom and both include detailed video instructions, allowing you to continue to practice and "hone" your skills after you have completed your practical training.

OR -

VIRTUAL CLASSROOM OPTION- Complete your theory training online at home or work, then join us for your one full day to complete your cannulation and injection course training.

Our Virtual Classroom option includes two very comprehensive training kits - one for your cannulation course and one for your injection course. Kits are included at no charge (normally £79.95 and £39.95 respectively) and are yours to keep and to continue to practice with after you have finished your courses. The equipment and supplies included in your kits are the same as those used if you choose the classroom option.
