LADS aims to provide a proactive approach to tackling social issues, mental health & wellbeing alongside practical interventions for men and boys of all ages. The LADS project is a long-term initiative for West Yorkshire, set up with Men and Boys at its heart with a focus on ethnic minority communities including faith communities, marginalised communities, intersectionality, socially and economically disadvantaged communities. Our focus is on Intervention and prevention. The project is a co-production and co-design model of service delivery. LADS aims to work in partnership and have a coordinated approach to service design. We will build on these partnerships and collaborate to ensure the services we provide continually meets our clients’ needs. We will develop Prevention and Intervention programs that fit with the communities we serve. We will do this by involving the community through our member’s groups alongside community cohesion work. We aim to work with and alongside mens groups and women’s groups to end VAWG and VAM&B’s, ensuring we support men from diverse Muslim communities and ethnic minority backgrounds to ensure the wider vision of ending VAM&B and VAWG is reachable.

Sporting Influence was founded in 2012 with two key aims: To improve the standard of teaching and opportunities in Primary School Sport. To improve key Social Skills through Sport. At Sporting Influence, we firmly believe that teaching sport correctly gives children the best chance in school to develop a positive attitude towards a healthy lifestyle and the potential to move into secondary school with those important social skills. Our drive to develop well rounded and healthy children is at the core of everything that we do, in every lesson, after-school club, competition or day at our holiday camps. Since the business started we have recruited and invested in our team of teachers and I can confidently say that we have one of the strongest most dedicated teams of experienced professionals across Yorkshire. We are excited to launch our Sporting Influence CIC Foundation fully in 2022 and look forward to making a big difference in the community to children and families in need of extra support. Our work takes place at our venue, a grade II listed textile mill in Halifax. Here you will find our art school with extensive creative production facilities and equipment, our gallery where creative practices and processes are shared and showcased as well as our artist studios, where 20 artists and creative practitioners make their work. Our work also takes place out in the community at schools and community venues, online and in peoples homes. Artworks is a community interest company so we don't work for profit. The income we generate is used to support the communities we are established to serve. Thanks to our funding partners and supporters we are able to make many of our activities free. Where we don’t receive any subsidy we make sure that access is affordable while always paying artists a fair rate.

I’m Matthew and I’ve been helping my students succeed at school and university since 1992, including over 13,000 hours of one-to-one tuition to over 400 students. My philosophy is: more than higher grades. I teach A level Maths and Further Maths, A level Statistics, and A level Physics. At GCSE level I have worked very successfully with students aiming for a grade 6 and above. I also help undergraduates on courses with mathematical content, such as Economics and Business Studies. My focus is on achieving high grades through understanding the material. I tailor my approach depending on individual needs and interests and I believe in making the subject as simple and enjoyable as possible. I am enthusiastic, friendly and approachable. I really want my students to succeed and I’m very happy to be contacted for help outside of their lesson time. I was recently invited by Talksport Radio to be their “maths expert” to speak on the topic of coin tossing, in the context of determining who bats first in a cricket match. You can read a fuller version of what I said here. UCAS + OXBRIDGE ADVICE It is not enough simply to do well at A level, of course: students need to be given the tools to succeed at university. To that end I take a very full interest in their education generally. As one student recently put it, I am “so much more than just a maths tutor”. For example I give guidance and support with university entrance, including the UCAS personal statement, applying to Oxford and Cambridge, and interview preparation, and I have personal experience of working in both the legal and accounting professions. I’ve written a detailed guide for university applicants: Writing your UCAS personal statement. ACADEMIC HISTORY + TEACHING EXPERIENCE I have an outstanding academic record and over twenty-five years experience as a teacher and examiner, during which I’ve received excellent feedback from my students and their parents. I have tutored over 400 students in Harrogate: that’s over 13,000 hours of one-to-one teaching since I started tutoring in 2006. FEES My fees are £220 per month, which covers four one-hour lessons and ongoing continuous support and help outside of lesson time. I do whatever I can to help my students succeed: I’ve even answered messages from a frantic student at midnight, and I’m always happy to talk to parents and guardians. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Because I tutor full-time, I only teach from my home on Victoria Avenue, in central Harrogate, and online. I teach on weekdays from 4pm to 9pm. The organisation was set up in 2000 as an independent charity to run a community facility. Since then it has gone from strength to strength by expanding the space available for activities and delivering its own services such as childcare, adult learning health and well-being projects. Outline below is our story: 1999 - In 1999, with the closure and demolition of the Foundry Street youth club, a meeting was held by representatives of local Ravensthorpe based community groups about the possibility of acquiring a building for general community use. After many meetings and discussions between them and Kirklees Council, it was agreed that if representatives could come together to form a group, Kirklees Council would support them in acquiring and running a community building through available European SRB Grant funding. With St Johns Ambulance Centre looking for new premises their building came up for sale, it was purchased by the newly formed group in 1999 and renamed as the Ravensthorpe Community Centre. 2000 - The building underwent a series of alterations to make it more suitable for use as a community centre, the building had disabled ramps put in and the rooms were changed to make then suitable for community use. In May 2000 the building was officially opened by Mayor of Kirkless. The building subsequently became very popular with regular users such as a wide range of community groups, the local further education college holding learning classes and a local provider delivering crèche facilities.
