Learn how to make a functional and fabulous hand-bound book with local Bookbinder Cass Barron.In this 3 hour workshop, Cass will take you through the process of folding, cutting and stitching your own leather or pleather book using a range of upcycled and vintage materials to give your book its own unique character.All materials will be provided but there is also the option to incorporate your own decorative papers, including maps and personal mementos&nbsp;should you want to theme your book to suit your occasion.&nbsp;The books you will produce make for great notebooks, journals, sketchbooks and memory books, as well as lovely gifts for friends and family.Following the workshop you will receive a reminder of the steps covered and a comprehensive materials list should you want to make more books at home (it&#39;s a most addictive craft).Cass offers a wide range of workshops and book structures. The Arienas Collective private classes are run from our supportive and welcoming home-based environment within a Georgian mews home in Edinburgh&rsquo;s City Centre New Town. We invite you to join us, leave any day-to-day worries behind, and immerse yourself in being creative.
Access to all the equipment you will need is included in the price.&nbsp;
Private classes can be themed to suit the occasion, such as a special birthday, hen do, or family celebration. Just let us know when booking and we can discuss the options.
On full day classes you are welcome to bring your own lunch. Alternatively, there are a wide range of independent sit-in or takeaway delis, caf&eacute;s, supermarkets and restaurants within a 5-10 minute walk. We can also provide a buffet style lunch if you prefer, just let us know your dietary requirements and budget, and we&#39;ll source some options.
PLEASE NOTE: Our workshop space is on the first-floor of a Georgian mews building and unfortunately we do not have lift access. The workshop space is in our home which is&nbsp;not&nbsp;nut free. Please let us know of any skin or food allergies before booking.

Work events
Most of our private classes are also available to book for staff team building and well-being purposes, or as creative treats for your customers. You can find out more here.
Age restrictions
Our workshops are planned with adults in mind. Many are suitable for teenagers, but some may require under 16s to be accompanied for insurance purposes. Please check with us before booking. Complimentary alcoholic drinks are served for 18s and over only.
