When Broughton Public School opened in 1896, the motto chosen for it was Sic Itur Ad Astra (rough translation: Reach for the Stars!). I think the School Board in those far off days chose that motto wisely. They may not have dreamt of emails and websites, but they were certainly forward thinking enough to realise how appropriate it would continue to be in the twenty-first century. It very neatly encapsulates our philosophy, which is to encourage in all our pupils the belief that they can achieve anything in life as long as they put their minds to it. I am a firm believer in the importance of the partnership between school and home and the role it plays ensuring a high quality education for all pupils. Therefore I hope that we can work with our families within a climate of trust and mutual respect to ensure the highest possible learning experience for our pupils. The Courses Golf has been played over the links at Gullane for more than 350 years. Today, Gullane Golf Club is one of Scotland's most prestigious member clubs, mixing the finest tradition with some of the most admired natural links land in the world. Gullane is blessed with superb turf and a climate that allows all year round golf. Visitors are welcome to play our championship courses which offer dramatic coastal views and a golfing challenge to savour. Gullane No. 1 (1884) has a long history of hosting national and international championship golf events, including the 2018 Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open and Ladies Scottish Open, the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open in 2015 as well as Local Final Qualifying for the Open Championship at neighbouring Muirfield. Gullane No. 2 (1898) was laid out by the legendary Willie Park Jr and has also been used for Open Championship Qualifying as well as the Seniors Open Amateur. Gullane No. 3 (1910) was also designed by Willie Park Jr. It may be the shortest of the three courses, but it provides a wonderful test based on shot-making skills rather than power. Gullane offers a unique range of golfing experiences for members and visitors alike, combining a major role in the history of golf in Scotland, great golfing conditions, and a truly spectacular environment. I have been practicing yoga in many forms on and off since I was about 6 years old, but don't worry it's not as intimidating as it sounds! I have always been drawn to South Asian culture and the yogic path. I believe it is very important to honor yoga's long standing traditions and ancient roots and will always try to bring this authenticity to our classes. I am also Scottish and feel deeply connected to the Celtic traditions of following the wheel of the year and being in connection with nature. It's fascintating how these two ancient cultures have so much in common and there is even evidence to suggest they were once closely linked before time and geography honed them into two distinct cultures and societies with a forgotten mystical connection. In my yoga teaching I hope to bring the wisdoms of these two great cultures into our modern lives and celebrate how natural connection can support us on our yoga journey.

Established in 1985 by Director Tracy Hawkes, Dance For All amalgamated with the prestigious Theatre School of Dance in Stockbridge in 2000, where full-time dance training and classes were offered for nearly four decades, training a large majority of Scottish dancers, teachers and choreographers. Principal Director Tracy Hawkes RTS ARAD SDS IdB(1) is one of Scotland’s best known dance teachers who has performed and taught extensively in schools and companies in the UK and abroad, including Basic Space Dance Theatre, Napac Ballet and Durban City Ballet. Tracy is a registered teacher and associate of RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) and the only Spanish Dance Society qualified teacher in Scotland. Promoting excellence and enjoyment in all forms of dance, she directs an inspirational faculty of dance tutors, comprised of many of the most respected and renowned dance professionals in the business today.
