Hi, my name is Lian. I live in Winchburgh with my fiancé, Stuart, and my two little girls, Maddie and Connie, and I run classes in the Edinburgh North West areas. I am originally from Manchester and before moving to Edinburgh travelled the world working on a cruise ship. After meeting Stuart, we decided to put down some roots in Scotland and start a family. I attended lots of baby classes with Maddie, she spent most of the time sleeping but for me it was invaluable - being able to chat to other mums going through the same things at the same time. Also, being new to area meant I was able to meet, what have become, lifelong friends. In June 2020 I had my second daughter, Connie, in the middle of a global pandemic. My maternity experience was very different. Not having the opportunity to go to classes and share experiences with other Mums made me realise even more how important these baby groups are, not just for my baby but also for me. So this got me thinking about my future and where my passion was, then I discovered Tots Play and knew I had found exactly what I wanted to do. I wanted to offer the same opportunity for new mums and the experiences I had to Edinburgh North West. I immediately jumped at the chance to bring this fantastic programme to families in the area. My aim is to offer you and your baby a relaxed and friendly environment, where you can spend special time with your little one playing, laughing, learning and bonding together. Each class brings with it a unique structured play programme, where you can share experiences through activities such as baby massage, yoga, music, sign language, sensory play and much more all in one place. When new drivers are improperly instructed on the fundamentals of driving, and the “rules of the road” it negatively affects everyone’s safety on Missouri roadways. Unfortunately, schools have been eliminating driver education from their curriculum nationwide; including schools in Springfield. In September, 2019, Mercy Hospital phased out their driving education program costing Southwest Missourian’s their most trusted driver training program. A lack of community resources means parents are forced to shoulder the responsibility of driver training. Parents understand introducing their teenager to driving can be a unique challenge. Scheduling time for Parent/Teen driving instruction is difficult and lessons often create stress, conflict and tensions in the family unit. We’re convinced there is a better way to develop better drivers. In September, 2019, Todd Vermillion, a retired Sergeant and Dan Bracker, a retired Lieutenant both from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Partnered and opened Premier Driving Academy. With over 50 years of combined law enforcement experience, they recognize the inherent risks involved in operating motor vehicles, particularly for young, inexperienced drivers. They collaborated with industry leaders and administrators and developed a proven curriculum that makes their student drivers the perfect candidates for success. Premier’s teen driving program includes six, one hour, in-car driving lessons. Every lesson is tailored to the strengths and weaknesses of each individual student driver. The curriculum is based on a four step lesson plan; instructor explains, as student performs the task, instructor checks for understanding, student explains, then evaluated. The student will succeed in driving with repetition and practice. The goal at Premier is to develop skilled drivers for a lifetime. Dan Bracker, Lieutenant, retired from the Missouri State Highway Patrol in 2018, with more than 26 years of service. During his 10 year tenure as Public Information Officer, Dan presented driver education classes at numerous southwest Missouri high schools. He has presented highway safety and personal safety education programs to many civic, and private industry groups. Most importantly, he passionately instructed both daughters to drive. Todd Vermillion, Sergeant, retired from the Missouri State Highway Patrol in 2021, with more than 25 years of service. Todd was a Missouri Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) specialist instructor in the Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (E.V.O.C.) for over 11 years; training law enforcement officers in the safe operation of police vehicles during high stress, high speed maneuvers while providing in-car instruction. He also taught his three children to drive safely for life.

In the 1950’s there were over 50 native species of bee in the UK, yet just a few years ago there was just 27. In the past few years honey bees have experienced more substantial declines. The UK used to be home to 27 species of bee, yet sadly 3 of these are now extinct with many more under threat. Bee Worldwide has been established in direct response to the growing number of declining bees. The goal is to identify the reasons for the decline and work towards rebuilding the ecosystem that is vital for the bees to regenerate their colonies. PreviousNext 123 This programme has several aims: to raise awareness of our current situation to educate the importance of bees replant foraging areas that are fundamental to the survival and reforming of bee colonies complete and promote research which targets understanding the impacts bees and other pollinators have and the effects of their current and future environment has on them. take action to reverse any negative impact which has already occurred. Bee Worldwide primary focus is to promote individuals and other groups to help bees in their own communities by planting some bee-friendly plants in their gardens. We will extend this to finding donated land and use volunteers to plant flowers in these areas. We also hope to set up a franchise model to become a bee keeper under our own brand, and this will include training, equipment and advice etc. Our research will be world leading and we will also collaborate with universities who are also working in this field of study. This will include monitoring bee movements with trackers (little backpacks) bee counting and many more scientific experiments. With the results, we can see if we can reverse any of the issues and help promote these messages so others can assist with the issues. Over time, Bee Worldwide will create a learning environment that will be an invaluable resource for bee keepers and an aspiration to the public and the community at large. Interdisciplinary study Graduate School degrees use ideas from different disciplines to give students a more rounded understanding of their subject. Learning across subject boundaries Interdisciplinary learning is at the heart of the Graduate School. Core modules on Graduate School degrees use themed seminars led by subject experts from across the University. Students consider their subject from different disciplinary perspectives, developing an interdisciplinary understanding. This approach also enables students to show skills such as flexibility and creativity. Optional modules allow students to further develop the interdisciplinary character of their studies. In the end of degree project students explore a topic in depth. The project can also be interdisciplinary in scope and may have an applied character. On most degrees, students have a choice in how to present the project. This might be as a dissertation or in more applied format - such as a policy report or multi-media portfolio. Academic and personal skills Graduate School Masters degrees help students develop advanced subject knowledge and research skills. Postgraduate Society St Leonard’s Postgraduate College works closely with the Postgraduate Society. The Postgraduate Society is one of the Students’ Association's most active societies. These include beach bonfires, day trips around Scotland, pub nights, and graduation balls. History and location The Graduate School for Interdisciplinary Studies welcomed its first students in 2018. The Graduate School now welcomes students from around the world. In 2020 more than 90 students joined Graduate School MSc and MLitt degrees. Since 2021, the Graduate School has been based in the Old Burgh School. The Old Burgh School has office, teaching, and study space for the Graduate School. It is also home to the University’s postgraduate study centre. Graduate School Meeting Room The Graduate School Meeting Room situated at the Old Burgh School is available to be booked by staff and postgraduate students Monday-Friday between 9am-6pm. The room has a capacity of 6 (current covid occupancy) and is equipped with a projector and screen. There is kitchen facilities directly adjacent. Staff can book directly via our online room booking system. For student room bookings, please email gradschool@st-andrews.ac.uk. Priority will be given to bookings related to Graduate School or Postgraduate St Leonards College activities. Please note, this room should not be booked by students as an additional study space.
