Every year around 300 places are taken up at our training courses or events, a figure that was doubled during the pandemic as we transferred our courses online to support media workers across Wales. We provide skill-building courses, redundancy support, wellbeing sessions and conferences that examine the future of journalism and communications. The project is funded by the Welsh Government's Wales Union Learning Fund (WULF) and is delivered by a team of experienced freelance journalists and trainers, providing essential skills and refreshers to journalists and communications professionals from Wales and beyond

Hi, my name is Lian. I live in Winchburgh with my fiancé, Stuart, and my two little girls, Maddie and Connie, and I run classes in the Edinburgh North West areas. I am originally from Manchester and before moving to Edinburgh travelled the world working on a cruise ship. After meeting Stuart, we decided to put down some roots in Scotland and start a family. I attended lots of baby classes with Maddie, she spent most of the time sleeping but for me it was invaluable - being able to chat to other mums going through the same things at the same time. Also, being new to area meant I was able to meet, what have become, lifelong friends. In June 2020 I had my second daughter, Connie, in the middle of a global pandemic. My maternity experience was very different. Not having the opportunity to go to classes and share experiences with other Mums made me realise even more how important these baby groups are, not just for my baby but also for me. So this got me thinking about my future and where my passion was, then I discovered Tots Play and knew I had found exactly what I wanted to do. I wanted to offer the same opportunity for new mums and the experiences I had to Edinburgh North West. I immediately jumped at the chance to bring this fantastic programme to families in the area. My aim is to offer you and your baby a relaxed and friendly environment, where you can spend special time with your little one playing, laughing, learning and bonding together. Each class brings with it a unique structured play programme, where you can share experiences through activities such as baby massage, yoga, music, sign language, sensory play and much more all in one place. KIRAN (also known as KIRAN Cymru) is committed to improving mental wellbeing of Black Asian Ethnic Minority people living in Wales. We particularly focus on people over 50 and young people. However, all of our activities are ‘open to all’, and we welcome everyone to participate. We currently have several projects to promote mental wellbeing. Please see below to learn about the projects and visit their respective websites. KIRAN Legal - Free Legal Help This is a pilot project by KIRAN Cymru. We help financially disadvantaged BAME members in Wales by offering free legal support (Benefits, Housing and employment) and interpretation/translation services in Bengali, Hindi, Urdu, Sylheti, Punjabi and Gujrati. Please visit, kiranlegal.co.uk for more information. Friends in Need - Befriending Service This is a pilot project by KIRAN Cymru. Since March 2020, we have been helping BAME people in Cardiff with their day-to-day needs, i.e., grocery shopping. We also ring elderly community members regularly to keep in touch and overcome loneliness through our befriending service. Our ‘Friends in Need’ service helps BAME people in Wales to connect with other people and fight social isolation. Our Communities Our Strength - Wellbeing for BAME People This is a project by KIRAN Cymru. This project started in March 2021. We aim to combat the adverse effects of COVID 19 pandemic by creating regular and structured opportunities for BAME community members to connect with each other through virtual meet-ups, games, and cultural activities. We offer various opportunities for all BAME people in Wales to connect with other people in virtual social meet-ups, e.g., book clubs, bridge clubs, learning musical instruments, e.g., Piano and Tabla. There is also a community musical group for you to join. As a part of this project, we have started an English Online Magazine called Story Cloud. All community members are encouraged to take part in creative writing. KIRAN Cymru offers free guidance and training on ‘Creative Writing’. It is a beautiful skill and can improve the confidence and self-esteem of the writer. Please get in touch with us if you want to take part in creative writing. Story Cloud will publish the selected short stories, poetry and feature written by community members. Apart from the above, we offer other befriending services for local communities. Since graduating from her undergraduate degree from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Bethany has spent 10 years performing professionally on stages throughout the UK and Europe. Bethany also studied at the Royal Academy of Music for her Masters alongside being accredited a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music in Singing Teaching. Whilst a student at the Guildhall, Bethany performed in various concerts at prestigious venues such as the Barbican, Wigmore Hall, Royal Albert Hall and began recording as a soloist and ensemble member with Delphian Records.. Since graduating from her Masters, Bethany has performed professionally with companies such as Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Scottish Opera, D'oyly Carte, Norwegian National Opera, Iford Arts, English National Opera Works, Grange Park Opera, Opera Holland Park and Wexford Festival Opera. Bethany has spent most of her career singing classical repertoire, opera and crossover musical theatre. She has been lucky enough to have travelled to New York, Norway, Italy, Dubai, Austria, Prague, Germany and France with her performing and coaching work. Bethany has also extensively toured the UK in national touring productions. Bethany has a portfolio career and when she is not performing onstage, she records sung voiceovers, teaches voice and holds a vocal massage practice. Bethany recently recorded vocals for the national TV advert for Metcalfe's Popcorn, you may also have spotted her singing on BBC, ITV and Channel 4 TV shows such as Jimmy Carr's 8/10 Cats does Countdown and ITV's This Morning. Her singing has been aired and recorded on BBC Radio 2, RTE Lyric FM and Classical FM. Releases on Opus Arte (DVD). Teaching & Vocal Massage Bethany is a qualified laryngeal release practitioner and is qualified in Estill Figure Proficiency. Bethany is experienced in Bel Canto, SOVT and Accent Method Techniques and is always expanding her knowledge on contrasting vocal techniques and styles. She is a fully insured member of Musicians Union. Bethany is based in Olney, Milton Keynes, UK and is a singing tutor at Emil Dale Academy. Bethany holds a small in person private practice at Olney Music School alongside teaching online. Since the covid pandemic Bethany has been able to reach new clients through her informative social media reels on vocal massage and vocal technique. She has been able to teach students online across the world, recently allowing her to hold a pop up coaching and vocal massage practice in France. Bethany has a true passion for teaching healthy vocal technique and guiding her clients towards towards their own musical goals. Bethany has had students go onto train professionally at drama schools, music conservatoires, Musical Theatre youth training programs, National Youth Choirs of Great Britain and to compete in Britain's Got Talent and The Voice Kids.
