The aim of this course is to provide the learner with an understanding of all aspects of this process including the effective planning, development, implementation and review of the care process and the effective management of issues to ensure that the care received is individualised and effectively meets the persons needs and requirements.

A 1-day course open to anyone wishing to explore the use of therapeutic touch to enhance wellbeing and improve engagement with a person living with dementia on their terms and with dignity. We’ll cover specialist massage techniques on easily accessible areas of the body i.e. the arms, hands and face with a view to meeting needs and facilitating expressing emotions in a dementia friendly way. We’ll explore the intricacies of consent, how the law impacts us and the benefits of massage so you can sell your service well all through a trauma informed lens. Person-centred approaches are a core skills framework that articulates what it means to be person-centred and how to develop and support the workforce to work in this way. Developed in partnership with Skills for Health and Skills for Care, the Framework aims to distil best practices and to set out core, transferable behaviours, knowledge and skills. It is applicable across services and sectors and across different types of organisations. Person-centred approaches underpins existing dementia, learning disabilities, mental health and end of life care core skills frameworks. This subject forms standard 5 in The Care Certificate.
